With this movie, it’s good it has a low budget. The creepy characters could only look this authentic from genuine limitations.
I thought of the reference in Mayham a little differently. If the Muppets in the real world are actors, it would be the same for them and this is what is up with them recently.
You never fully know what to expect
From what I've heard, Frogs of War was financed separately from the rest of the movie. That's why the segment has its own name in the first place, to trick investors or whoever into thinking that it was an unrelated short film.
Actually 'Meet the Feebles' was originally meant to be a TV series pilot, but the Japanese investors insisted that they do a movie which would be lower risk. So the Vietnam scenes were shot after the fact to pad out the run time.
That's a common rumour, but it doesn't seem to have any basis in fact. Feebles was always an entire film concept. I think the fact that the Vietnam stuff was shot separately (due to budgetary reasons) helped create that rumour.
There are rat and cockroach characters in the Muppets. Like, recurring characters with names. Rizzo and Jacques. I'm pretty sure both existed before Meet the Feebles, as well.

@@PlatinumBassYT You're thinking of Pepe.
And Oscar the Grouch had a pet worm on Sesame Street.
@@KasumiKenshirou Slimy the Worm.
I remember this as my first experience of a Peter Jackson film. My mother rented a copy of this when at the old Video Library. She thought it would be a simple harmless puppet movie, much akin to the Muppets. Oh how wrong she was!
Pro tip: You can fix the PAL version by running it through any editing software at 96% speed with "Preserve Pitch" turned off , or if the file is 25fps, put it in a 24fps timeline, and the speed/pitch should change automatically.
I saw this movie in high school. A friend of mine said "You got to see this..this movie is WRONG! You got to see just how WRONG this movie is!"
8:16
Fun Fact: One way they actually tried to fix that problem was releasing the movie cropped into widescreen (1.85:1) for cinema releases, rather than present it in it's original open matte full-screen (1.33 or 4:3) release as seen on home video.
That's actually why some shots in the final film have a black bar on the top frame, as they intended to crop it them for a widescreen release.
Would this be considered a direct follow up to the original _Meet the Feebles_ video you did back when the channel 1st started?
Not necessarily a "crazy part" of "Meet the Feebles". But I do love the song "Garden of Love" as I find it genuinely beautiful to listen. (Also I first watched "Meet the Feebles" back 2018 here on RUclips, but that's beside the point.)
I saw this movie randomly on youtube.
This movie is both insane and incredible.
Watching this movie while not understanding what it was i was watching (a real movie) and seeing things my brain was not equipped to fully handle was one of the best movie experiences of my life.
They referenced Meet the Feebles on one of this year's new Simpsons episodes too. Peter Jackson shows up to meet Mr. Burns for an interview and you can see a picture of the Feebles walking down the street parodying Abbey Road in the background.
Would that be called Meet the Beatles, then? 😂
"So, you wanna join the feebles?"
Yeah no
13:07 Imo he should have just said "Yeah, it was a bad night" and skipped the second sentence entirely.
For real, I really wanna watch this movie when I can, as it seems like quite the interesting interpretation of what a more cruel and shady version of the Muppet crew would be like
@mediamementosofficial Where can I learn more about your stage adaptation? you don’t need a massive budget to put on a stage musical, just concepts alone can bring a vision to life. Simply drawing the set or putting a collage of clothes and makeup for the costumes can be enough to give a good idea on how the stage version might work in your vision. There are lot of community who are more than willing to hear out your idea for a Meet The Feebles stage musical. Also since the owner of the rights barely care about copyright they might just give you the stage rights for free if you email them a pitch.
God I love early Peter Jackson. What a killer lineup of films to debut with
Don't forget to check out the second channel for some MM-based side-content! Link in the description!
11:29 to 12:01 I dont mind, cause i like pal-shift. I think it sounds better in pal most of the time than regular. 💙
Came for the plot of the Feebles, got something better.
For someone only making his 2nd film, the maturity and skill in the camerawork and editing is utterly amazing. There are several shots in this film that foreshadow scenes from LOTR, including a crane shot that is explicitly duplicated in The Two Towers.
One Of My Favorite Movies Of All Time Are Cats Don't Dance and Balto childhood favorites back In the 1990's
Wonder if the movie would have been better if they received help from the Jim Henson company?
It's so fun living in Wellington where this was filmed, so many of the locations are barely recognisable anymore
Now you got me interested into checking this wacky Film out, despite its Wild and Wacky History.
And I thought FoodFight the Movie (which I'm not sure you'll talk about it soon or not) had a very Wild and Wacky History.
I remember watching a french video on the movie a while back (and I think it used a low quality version, probbly one of the only verison available at the time). Seeing The Feebles in so high quality, feels quite surreal.
I also remember the video also saying that "Meet the Feebles" bassicly ment something about diarrhea, but I don't find traces of this online (Google/Microsoft Bing doesn't help, like at all)... Could some New Zealand natives confirm or bust this for me, please.
Nice job as usual!
12:43, So, I guess that means Meet The Feebles is technically canon within the Muppet Universe thanks to this clip, which I suppose that would make so much sense and would blow everyone's mind.
13:05, 😅😅😅😅I guess he had a different memory of what happened on that crazy night, since it has been so many Decades since he made the Film.
That is the best guess I can think of right now.
That Muppets meeting Feebles event could have been a separate incident before the movie. Robert said he has been a fan since he was a kid, I think.
8:15, Making Movies isn't always easy and sometimes you have to improvise
Great video mate, thanks for highlighting an unknown player in puppet media ❤
11:36: Thanks you for helping me understand more about audio pitching!!
I saw it for the first time yesterday and almost instantly fell in love with it it is absolutely hilarious I was constantly laughing.
10:14 as a Irish, this really upsets me
This is why I had to pirate it
Somehow I knew this was coming! Glad it did!
Got one of the bootlegs on VHS.
If you plan to do an Anti-Character Quest for 2024, can you do one on Tom's Owner from the Tom & Jerry Gene Deitch era?
I think PJ was talking about the Feebles as actors in Muppets Mayhem. Even then, they are terrible people!
this movie didn´t came to brazil. But now i am interested on watching this.
11:36 Music Tone Comparison Time in Meet The Feebles!
After watching your video I fall in love with the feebles and use it for my 12 grade English class assignment so thank you
I kinda wonder what would it happen if Percy Jackson were to ever remake the movie with the budget he gets for films now. I know it's unlikely but I just wonder what the film would be like with a bigger budget.
A remake of this movie highly unlikely giving the subject and jokes
That would be one of those ‘if I had insane money’ things I would try to have happen.
I doubt this will happen but I would love if it does
I can’t believe I find review and then just so happen make another video about it 😂😂😂
And now Peter Jackson is a billionaire.
Thank you for influencing me to not buy the bootleg dvd on eBay. Loved the video.
I would love an updated version of this. My tape is so worn out….
I’ve never see the puppets in such clear picture
Oh my!?! He did that zombie movie I watched that back then! 😊
13:10
It is.
Im pretty sure they referred to the couple that got married after.
have a Feeble new year!
Y’know I’ve always imagined if a widescreen movie was a thing for sometime
2:21 Rizzo >:(
It would be so fun to go to Jamaica or somewhere for this movie's 2025 release date premiere there 😆
Meet the Feebles is the most messed up film of all time. It exists so films like "The Happytime Murders" can walk.
7:44 Thomas moment
What about the fact that apparently there's a (partial) fan restoriation also on youtube by Liam?
He mentions it in the video.
I know he talked about the fact that the movie is available on youtube, but unless i was really distracted and i didn't hear a part of the vid there's a specifically partial fan restoriation by a user named Liam, i want to know if that's the definitive experience or something.
@@mrpiccionedivino5598 Don’t worry. They’re the same restoration.
@@albertrobinson4576 thank you for the information.
I got to see it in a small independent movie theater in 1994 and the audience and I loved it. It's so raw and uncaring about any hint of political correctness that it's genius. It's not crass for crass' sake, though. There's really intelligent and insightful writing there.
This. It's secretly a masterpiece
One of Peter Jackson's greatest films!
I love madcap meet the feebles are as a concept
Meet the Feebles was made before Braindead
And also The Lord of the Rings
where can I find the stage adaptation of the movie?
Since he said he wouldn’t produce it on stage or anything, I think the best we can do is the script. He hasn’t released it yet I don’t think. I hope he does.
13:09 Okay so i have a theory regarding why Peter Jackson's dialogue regarding the Meet the Feebles ending is not the same as what we saw
When we see Sebastian the text explain that he was *negotiating the rights for a film based on his book* so in other words the movie we see and its ending may be THE movie the was rights went to!
And what Peter says its the true history
Its like one of those """based off real events""" type of movies
But again its just a Theory,if you have something more 'coherent' i will listen
i saw this movie for the first time when I was 8. I'm 33 now, I'm still not okay
9:45 Aaayy that's my birthday right there except i was born in 2001
Actually Meet the Feebles came before Braindead.
I say that in the video.
I think of this movie as the Muppet Show if it was made by John Waters. Low class, foul, despicable, yet somehow entertaining.
Apparently the M60 was running live rounds.
I watch the film on Tubi TV.
10:05 there are other release dates as well but they are not worth it i guess
Is that you Kenny Lauderdale?
It's just Peter Jackson's answer to The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, only more worser.
The film is disturbing and just sick I mean the Jokes are funny But it is still sick
It has some heart
Does it count as giving away the ending if it gets the details wrong anyway?
I get why it rubs you the wrong way, regardless.
Could you do a video on Hong Kong phooey? It's an old Hanna Barbara cartoon about a dog who knows kung fu. Yes, I'm being serious, this is real.
He doesn’t take requests.
@@DrewtheStew1999 That sucks. Why?
@@DrewtheStew1999 artistic integrity, I guess.
7:44 Thomas the tank?
That's right.
I have an idea for you The Complete History of X-Men the movie (2000)
I saw this movie back in 2020, and it was werid. It was like if South Park or Rick & Morty made The Muppets or Sesame Street.
WAIT A MINUTE, AREN'T YOU THE GUY THAT MADE VEGGIETALES ABRIDGED?
Hello again.
Now I know why you sounded familiar.
🤨 hmm, but are you sure it's you?
Also, I just finished the film, and I would like to point out that it's a twisted movie.
In the future, you should talk about the complete history of the Love Bug. Also I'd you haven't heard of it, it's on disney Plus and it's a really amazing movie to watch. In fact, it was the highest grossing film of 1969 from Disney.
The words “canon” and “muppets” don’t fit in any sentence. There is no canon and everything is hyper self aware. That said, I would wager that the Feebles reference was referring to the puppets that “acted” in the movie, not the movie characters themselves.
Also, how dare you ignore my man Rizzo
Yeah, that trailer is terrible. I did learn something interesting though, apparently the blitch costume was eaten by rats after filming. Oh the irony.

PRAY FOR ISRAEL.
The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.
Mark 1:15
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS AND ROSE AGAIN FROM THE DEAD. WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE YOUR PLACE IN HIS HOUSEHOLD?
THEN PLEASE REPENT OF ALL YOUR SINS TODAY, AND GIVE ALL YOUR LIFE TO HIM, WHOSOEVER READS THIS MESSAGE.
THE LORD IS GOOD, AND NOBODY IS OUT OF THE CANDIDACY FOR BECOMING A CHRISTIAN.
J3w$/israelis don't believe in any of that. Infact they celebrate the fact they persecuted Jesus. 👍
