After reading many of the comments about only one strip animating while the others freeze, my solution in the NLA is to open panel on the right, select "Strip" (not just "Extra") and make sure each armature is switched from Hold to Nothing.
Yep, this works for me. I am using blender 3.4 and the two "skating" animations ("peddling" and "coasting"). I used the "peddling" as the "skinned", and the "coasting" as the "non-skinned". It seemed that, with "Hold" set on both, the "skinned" animation would (I guess) "Hold", but even with "Hold" on the "non-skinned" animation, the "non-skinned" animation would run but the "skinned" animation would not run.
Thank you for this tutorial. This trick of adjusting the curves in Graph editor at 7:20 is the best solution I found -in years- of connecting disparate mocap animations (which unlike neatly cleaned Mixamo animations will never start at origin, they will always be differently oriented etc)
For everyone not getting the multiple tracks to work, follow this: in order to get each track to play simultaneously no matter it's track position, you need to 1) Hop over to the "Active Strip" options (Press N, then go to the "Active Strip" area 2) In the "Extra" dropdown menu, select "Nothing" 3) In the "Blend" dropdown menu, select "Combine" That's it! Just make sure to do this with each action strip and everything will work good.... Note: You have to select the Action Strip itself, not the Track This way you can have multiple tracks, like shown in the video. Which actually will follow up after each other. In the standard settings only the top track works.
@@tloumahlaba4710 Did you also make sure none of the stars on the left side are checked? Because if so, it will only play that specific track. So you gotta set the Dropdown menu's as I said above, AND make sure none of the stars are selected. I hope this helps :)

You must select STRIP. Then, you must change Extrapolation to Nothing and Blend to Combine. You must select each individual action strip and repeat the process. Hope this helps.

I had the issue with the NLA strips not running for the IDLE and SAVE on my desktop until I followed your advice and switch the Extrapolation from Hold to Nothing and it worked fine. Oddly when I encountered the problem I switched from my desktop to my laptop and didn't have to change any settings and I made it through the whole tutorial with no issues. I'm going to walk through the process on my desktop again to see if everything works ok there. Thank you so much.
I had problems in playing animatioins as shown at 5:31. If you also have the same problem, switch from Hold to Nothing in the Extrapolation parameter you find in the Strip tab (if you don't see the tab, press N with the mouse in the NonLinear editor)
great tutorial but having probs at 4.45 when adding new action strips i only get the rig animating as the two amiatures saved are not attached to the character like the first idle action strip is...what have i missed.. thanks in advance.
nope, my two strips do not play only the one on top that was second to be put in, if I swap them then the first will play but no the second strip.. wtf
For some reason I cant see the keyframes on the timeline after clicking on the skeleton. I can add keyframes but I don't see the one that is already there
I have three animations i.e., idle, start walk, walking. Where you select the hip bone and add cursor to selected, I select the left foot bone. And when I add selection to cursor after selecting the next frame, my object doesn't displace to the selected location rather it stays where it is. It only works when I select the hip bone but with hip bone's reference, the animation looks clunky. What should I do?

It's not working atall for me Is there a specific setting for this method of animation ?? After pushing down my actions and deleting the skeletal objects, I use G key to adjust the action strips I added but when I play the timeline, it's only the last added action strip that plays, the model only start to animate when the animation timeline reaches the last added action strip
Hi brother, bro there is a problem one left time 5:20 seconds forward your animation is going down c up or play ho rehaan all animation (idle then saving then throw) but when i follow your same sequence mr i animations don't happen bas last (throw) only plays, but all other starting pod to animations don't play, but if i keep their sequence line wise tabs all plays easily. Thanks for the video really good. However I am having a big problem. When I get to 5m39 section, and I have added the actions to different tracks, It will only act out the top layer, no matter what. I change the order and it will only play the top track, if there is no gap between or they overlap. If I put the actions on the same tracks it will play them. Anyone else had this issue?

After combining my camera isn’t working. When i add a camera, set a view and press Cntl+Alt+0 camera should set itself to the view r8? But my camera is not working. It's not moving from its position. hi Please help I follow your instructions step by step and in slow motion but my X graph is always aligned but the animation is still misaligned therefore there's nothing to twig on the graph. I tried figling with the different points in the graph but I end up with the charactor going to to different spots before throwing the ball. What do you thing i'm doing wrong?

Hi MK Graphics, I have done a combined animation like this tutorial - but unsightly jumps between the animations are visible. I wanted to improve the weak points with Mixamo Addon. So I duplicated the armature - Then I created a control rig with the Mixamo addon and chose the duplicated armature as the source skeleton. Nothing happens - the animation is not applied. You need to press the I key on the eye Icon. If you try to press the I key on the viewport it will open the menu. @@huybuingoc3179
