No no no please bring back that open turret space… with a super long chandelier! Gosh what a missed opportunity. Hope they revive that beautiful turret space
Such a cute and funny reaction! They need an “oh wow” counter for the husband’s reaction, that would be funny. I really love the design of their house too!
EXACTLY! It's such a shame that everybody's so programmed by the matrix to do what everybody else is doing. What makes a house grand to me isn't it's size but unique features like the turret. PATHETIC
It looks very good especially the kitchen and front door entrance. Painting the paneling was a good choice to update the living room, on a budget . What a huge mistake to close up that amazing architectural open ceiling !!! I’m so bummed about that. It took something special & made it bland. I would have preferred if they just painted the paneling and let the open height stay . Doing the same floors throughout the main level was a plus . That was also unnecessary work & money to change the outside brick color and shorten the outside balconies. Just some new paint on the iron work & plants on the balconies would have been fine. Then the budget could have been extended to the whole home .
it would be cold in the winter and you know how much heat you would need to warm that up? plus because they closed it off they made an extra room upstairs. the nice thing about that room in my opinion is the shape not the open ceiling.
I was almost impressed by the whole design BUT to close up the most unique feature about the house just to make a SECOND dining space!? Is there a reason we didn't get to see why they chose to do that? IM at a loss?!?!
@@gonegitty I am.not surprised at all, I think they really sued because, they didn't like the way, their home was decorated at all, they put on a big front, but, behind the scenes, when the cameras went off, they probably lit in on Jennie and her husband, that house was not Fabulous at all, when they finished with it,
The renovation reveal started out great but quickly faded when they got to the kitchen. It looked/felt like a cave, and then to close in the turret was no only unnecessary but added to the cave feeling. Folks, don't leave every decision in your contractor's hands!
@@beatricemitchell2384 All the furniture is "staging furniture" used to show what the house COULD look like. Homeowners are given the opportunity to purchase the new furnishings or not. The $75 thousand dollar lawsuit stems from Permit issues and construction defects the homeowners had to bring up to code out of their own pocket.
Jenny and Dave had to be sued by this family for sketchy construction and not having a contractors license with the state. Big NO NO in the construction world. Shady
Honestly I didn’t like the idea to remove that big chandelier view … maybe they could’ve changed the paints to white or something but introducing that low height ceiling and that disco chandelier threw me off !!!
J,aime beaucoup ce que font Jenny et Dave et en plus ils le font avec coeur . Je n,ai pas malheureusement Liker toutes leurs vidéo mais je les aiment toutes. Continuez de donner du plaisir et de l,aide aux gens. Bravo
This family had to file a law suit for sketchy construction and Jenny and Dave did not have a license with the state at the time. Family sued for $75,000 in damages. Very shady.
Who else watches these shows and goes away inspired and sad? Heartsick not for what you don't have, but rather what you will NEVER have. (Not picking on this show) at all, but it used to be that DIY shows were about affordable fixups. Now, all we see are mac-mansions that will suffocate you in debt. Losing a beautiful home to the bank after the renovation cost crushes you is worse than COVID because it destroys marriages, families, hopes, and dreams. Don't get me wrong, I love all these shows but rarely watch them anymore.
Beautiful. It is so wonderful to see this old-world style of design executed so exquisitely. It seems like all we usually see is modern meets midcentury modern - yuck.
i dont understand: 2 dining rooms? they took out that gorgeous high ceiling to bring in low ceiling with an exuberant chandelier that is way too low? SHE is the designer and yet, he came up with idea for pantry (which they didnt even show us or the clients). not enough time spent on showing us the after, cam moves too fast and also, plans would have been helpful.
Viewed this video because the show hosts/contractors are being sued by these homeowners. I did an internet search to find if others had commented on Fixer to Fabulous design choices that seemed like safety problems (and possible building code violations - at least they would be where I live). The homeowners allege that the couple did not obtain necessary building permits along with a few other issues.
I would have made the entire out side, siding, Stone, like the rest of the Home--- And that room at 9:33 looked like a Miniture Beauty & The Beast room--- I would have left it, but brighten it up
Just love all your work super the day I'm able to buy 2 cantiners hope you would design. My little home, love you dearly sending prayers and love to you and your family. Laura from Atwater Ca. Hope I can get in touch with you 🙏 be safe and take care.
looks pretty but why 9:20 close up the ceiling in the last room?...7:29 please dont tell me, that is a fake plant standing in the corner.the outside looks great and most of the inside as well...sorry for my honesty, I know you could care less about my comments
Kitchens shouldn’t be so commonly “open”. It’s nice not to have to look at appliances and cabinets all the time, and it’s also really nice to isolate the cooking smell to that part of the house, rather than making all the bedrooms smell like garlic every time you make a pasta sauce.
I think these "crooks" decided to file a suit after reading the comments about the second floor. The way it was set up it was inconvenient and dangerous. I remember this episode. Now this couple claims emotional distress and want at min. $75K. I also see they were on another HGTV show. What amazes me is that most likely those who have claimed how sad it was to place a second floor, would have done the exact same thing in order to gain the square footage. Added value and yes, safety.
There's a ton of stuff that was not allowed to be said about was done to destroy portions of this home during this "renovation".... and there's a major reason that you never got to see the "new space" created by the new low ceiling. That kitchen was not even functional when this video was taken. Dana couldn't even cook dinner FOR MONTHS. Do some more research... they even closed off access to a stairwell that was a primary access to the house. So don't go calling people crooks until you know all the details.
leave it to this unseasoned lady to remove the spice of this house aka the most beautiful and interesting part of the house, the high ceiling tourette to create a room with ridiculously low ceilings that feels super claustrophobic..
They made that house look ordinary, to be honest, the only thing I didn't like were the bars around, the front of the house, that house was not Fabulous at all, when they finished with it, and that pie cabinet should have been painted white or cream, they took away things in the home, that made it look fabulous to began with and replaced them with everyday ordinary furniture.
This just irritated me. They went in and painted everything plain a$$ white and took away the coolest part of the house. The only reason it looks nice plain white is the furniture. It was better inside before.
Living room was pretty. The rest of the house they just butchered - inside and out. Terrible. The house had such unique and beautiful features before they layed their hands on it

seriously? lol
Cute couple; she’s hilarious with her disco 💃...
I really want to see how the second story of the turret looks now! That would be such an amazing library.
Such a cute and funny reaction! They need an “oh wow” counter for the husband’s reaction, that would be funny. I really love the design of their house too!
Oh no! How many people have a turret in their house? But you put a ceiling on the bottom floor? Such a shame! 😞

Kids and a two story drop? No thanks. Love the ceiling.
Drinking game...take a shot every time you hear ,"Oh, wow".
Adorable couple
The formal diningroom and lounge are stunning! 💞💞
“A half century old” great way of saying it’s from the 70’s haha
THEY MASSACRED MY BOY!!!

Could not agree anymore about the exterior. I think they lost the beauty of original characters of the house too
LP
Dave and Jenny are beautiful 🥰
I would've kept the dining room open, maybe. It looks closed in now.
Why would they close that gorgeous ceiling? Now you get a low ceiling and it's not visually interesting 🤔
Maybe they use it as another space
This is my favorite! Y’all are amazing!

So beautiful
Love that kitchen ❤️

Amazing video dear. Thank you for sharing.
"Created the balcony" rather removed most of it! But loved the plant lights. But again what were thinking with that low lying ceiling transformation.
Cute flower beds, but who in their right minds has the time and energy to water those every day (or even several times a day)?
Very nice thanks

I agree! That room was amazing! I would have been pissed to see that they put in a ceiling in that room.
I agree.. I love the gorgeous ceiling too
I really wanted you see that pantry.
I wouldn't have added the ceiling in the formal dining room....
Lovely couple
AMAZING!
I liked the before one more than the after one

the red bricks looks nicer before...
WOW so pretty!!!!
Some day I want to invite both to my house for Christmas and my house renovation
I would have made the entire out side, siding, Stone, like the rest of the Home---
And that room at 9:33 looked like a Miniture Beauty & The Beast room---
I would have left it, but brighten it up
do not think painting outside brick is good idea and I also would like the open ceiling...... love the decor and styling done beautiful
I can't believe they trashed the original kitchen. I would have it!
Why would they close the ceiling?? 😮
That kitchen is beautiiiiiful
Do homeowners on this show get paid for overly dramatic reactions?
this is nothing...watch some other shows and u will turn the sound off
sorry.... that high ceiling was much needed!

I don't like the color outside
Jenny & Dave were sued by family for sketchy construction and not having on contractors license with the state.
The kitchen is beautiful. Nice not to see open shelving. I love those pendants.
I love the patriotism...An American flag wherever you can!
I liked it better before. 🤷🏼♀️

What is important is the owners are happy! I will be happy when monotone color schemes are less dominate! And the script is really really reaching !!!
High ceiling,!!, big mistake to removed it !!!!!
fab
Second dining room is so bad.. the ceiling is too low. The exterior does not need a change..
She is beautiful inside and out
before was soooo much better and interesting. now it's just dull

yes.. i would love to add door to my kitchen, so the smell doesn't go all over the house
I preferred the cúpula there, shame they took it off
What's not to like?

I think they need a second living area like they had before.
Except the kitchen, everything else looks like a downgrade.
Bingo
First one is better
❤️
Yuke to all that wood paneling on the walls
Didn’t like the white paint on the outside shoulda kept the original stonework

The way they did the work was very messy, especially the way they removed the kitchen cabinets 🤦🏼.

Please tell my WHY Jemmy & Dave ALWAYS put an American Flag outside of EVERY home they do. . Are they Trump supports ???
Why would you assume they have to be Trump supporters to appreciate living in the USA? 🤔
These 10-minute video clips are too short. They only give a faint flavor. The clips should be of at least 15-minute duration!
The new exterior was an obvious downgrade. You just destroyed a great piece of work.
If that is the case, I should've been born a boy.
They blocked that ceiling...how stuuuuuuuuuuupid

The chairs of the dining table are so ugly ... l don't know why the almost always buy those chairs??
investing in crypto now is the only big chance of making money
That won't bother you if you trade with a professional like Williams Brown
