I drove my semi into the Grand Canyon N.P.... oops!
I'd planned to find a spot along the road and drop my set of doubles and enter the Park with just the tractor. But not finding a spot I ended up at the entrance looking for a way to turn around. The gate had recently been relocated and an old gas station just inside the boundary had just been torn down. After a little discussion with the Ranger, she allowed me to park the trailers along the old raised fuel island (w/room so others could get around) and proceed with the tractor to see the rim. This was in Feb., so it being the off-season certainly enabled them to be more accommodating. I got extremely lucky!

I am not a trucker but I love this channel. I work in down town SF running a commercial HVAC service truck. SF is getting worse very quickly, if you haven't been here in a couple years you would be amazed at how bad it's gotten.

I've been and seen every single place you talked about except the Florida keys (someday)
Absolutely agree with your "don't go list" been to all of them (hated every single one) multiple times!
I want to add one to the list.... Philadelphia,,, I got myself into such a pickle there (when I was a new driver) that I had to call the non emergency police, they were very helpful and I thought I was going to get a ticket but no! The cop said, "if you would have continued on and hit that low bridge, then I would have a handful of tickets for you but you did the correct thing and stopped and called us!
    Awesome video Dave!

I like the US Highway 101 between Oxnard, California and Salinas, California!! I have grabbed my share of produce from that region and it is a beautiful trip as well!! I do agree with your picks on the worst areas also!! I have delivered many times to the Oakland and San Francisco Produce Markets on a number of occasions!!

A small correction. The Mackinac bridge doesn't go to the island, it connects the lower and upper peninsulas of Michigan. It's also pronounced Mackinaw. The UP is another beautiful drive in the non winter months. I also have to throw in the I-5 corridor once you get north of Redding, CA. You hit lake Shasta and have a few days off georgeous mountain driving clear to Tacoma.

Yep, occasionally I'd find myself way up in Wisconsin Friday morning and get loaded through the house for Monday (was otr flatbed) and instead of going through Chi-town, which was a REAL mess when they had the toll way dug up, (around '05-'06) I'd take US2 up along lake Michigan in the UP and pop out, cross the water down thru lower Michigan to the house in Ohio.

    Top 5 best scenery locations
    1. Trucking I-80 from Omaha to Salt Lake City. (I just love how things change as you drive this stretch of road.)
    2. Us Highway 35 from Dayton Ohio to I 64 in WV.
    3. Crossing the Mississippi River @ St. Louis at night near the arch.
    4. Painted Canyon in N. Dakota and the Black Hills in S. Dakota.
    5. Chesapeake Bay Bridge and tunnel.
    Honorable mentions.
Great River Road along the Mississippi River.
Highway 287 out of Colorado to Dallas Texas.
( and I know some people will be like what?) U.s. Highway 36 from st. Joseph Mo. - Colorado.
5 worst. ( pretty much everything that was mentioned in the video)
    Some dishonorable mentions...
    Greenville Mississippi
    Canton, Akron Ohio area
Philadelphia area Gloucester City New Jersey.

Aw man I go to the boroughs all the time. Honestly I'll take that over Atlanta or philly drivrs anyday people are always nice to me and the food is good. Petro in NJ is in bordentown, theres a loves there too they stay pretty clustered. There's also a pilot off 287 in mahwah but good luck ever finding parking there. One of my favorite scenic drives is going up US95 between I84 and the Canadian border. Get to drive along the river and there are lots of nice little towns through there.

My favorite places so far, I like going through back roads of Kentucky and Tennessee. Cambellsville ky has very beautiful scenery post card like in areas.
Upper peninsula Michigan I dont get to go there very often but it's nice. Western rural areas like Montana, the dakotas Texas is ok, but their entrance and exit ramps are weird.
Most of the southern states, a lot of Tennessee and Kentucky areas people are very curtious I just notice that alot there.
    Places I avoid
    #1 Chicago at all costs
#2 any place in Jersey and the northern east coast
New place unto avoid, pilot in Tuscolussa Al. Been there last week and was swamped with pan handlers. 5 at 1 stop.
Dave do you have any suggestions on how to repel these people? Or could you do a vid on this? Thanks

Just my 2¢ for what its worth. Anything west of I-35 is different mentality than everything east of there. I got out of it in 2000, I still miss my Northwest routes sometimes, they were the best to me back in the day.LTL seafood to Seattle, seafood back to Jersey, man what a trip!
    Best List:
#1 Missoula MT &Flathead Valley - layed over there once for the weekend, went skiing. Bob tailed up the slope, not most brilliant thing to do without chains!
#2 Grand Tetons in Wyoming - mountain scenery like none other in lower 48
#3 Maine Coastline on Hwy 1- Down East Maine at peak leaf season is stunning, postcard material for sure.
#4 Crater Lake, Oregon & the Cascades- you hafta take the drive off the beaten paths to understand!
#5 Utah & Southwest destinations - not as commercialized as Colorado, lots of great places to see & do!
    Honorable Mention:
Upper Peninsula of Michigan - out of the East Coast ratrace.
San Antonio TX- Great Rodeo if you can take time out.
California Hwy 101- Pacific Coast scenery for miles & miles, can't get in a hurry on this one!
    Worst Destinations:
New Orleans - had to many bad experiences there.
Bay Area of Cal- to many people, not truck friendly.
Miami & Orlando- Rough places, pushy people
    Boston- Narrow roads, congested
Detroit- Bad Roads, typical border crossing town.
    Dishonorable Mention:
New York, LA, Chicago:; if you know your way around town, it helps some.Definitely not truck accommodating!

Lmao people in Chicago friendly? You're insane brother, I used to work for USxpress my first year otr and upon arriving to our terminal in Chicago I realized that I was infact the ONLY white dude withing atleast a 1 mile radius including all of the drivers. I went inside and encountered some of the shittiest most rude assholes I've ever met in my entire life. I actually almost got into a fist fight with a fellow company driver because i was being too careful while stirring my coffee and held him up for 5 seconds.. I decided it was best to just avoid it like the plague rather than casually stopping in to take a break while in the area.

LOL. I have a a story about loop delivery . Unfortunately I run the N.E. corridor far too often. My boss knows that when I go NYC, I am in at night, out before light.
I enjoy running Dothan,N.O. & Texas coast. And you are right, AZ,NV desert I love. Straight roads, no light points, no traffic

Mt Rushmore was super cool. I pulled onto the road a ways and left it at one of the pull off areas and walked up to it it was awesome. Also Boston I went to Boston got the closest truck stop and took an UBER into the city. It was super cool to see all the old sites and revolutionary history.

I might be biased cause it's my home region but the midwest during the fall season. The fields ready for harvest and all the leaves on the trees changing to the reds, yellows, and oranges. People might find it boring cause yes it's the most common thing in the midwest but you'll miss it once you leave

My 2 favorite places I’ve trucked was 231 behind crater lake in Oregon, and all along i-84 on the Columbia river n crossing into Washington into battle ground Camas area, and twin falls Idaho. Worst was downtown Seattle by Mariners stadium and downtown Portland, i was sweating buckets backing into a super narrow busy street with 4 drop axle trailer, Minneapolis wasn’t too bad, delivered aluminum coils right outside the city

I'm not a trucker, but if you find yourself doing a run along the I40 in Arizona, Meteor Crater is just 6 miles off the freeway. It's well worth taking a small detour.

You pretty much nailed on both topics. I remember interviewing drivers for my trucks that said they will not run the NE US. I would say to them I haven’t decided yet if you’re good enough. No place for a rookie. Yeah it sucks but the rates are usually worth the trouble.

Agree with downtown Atlanta, also anywhere around Atlanta! They allow truck booting, costs $500 to remove the boot. Happened to me in Union City at the large parking lot at Planet Fitness. I refuse to take any freight there anymore.

I been to damn near all the dumper areas you talked about. Especially Atlanta. I hate the traffic to this day. It’s still some of the worst I’ve seen. Lol I live in Alabama so you don’t get much arguments about some of the Birmingham area but I’ve been to crappier places, *cough cough Camden, NJ*. I can agree with the desert states about the pretty scenery too. I enjoyed driving through the west coast, well except for this fuel prices.

You should do a video about some big cities you like driving though or delivering too. I live in North Carolina so I unfortunately have to deal with the eastern seaboard so often. None of the eastern big cities are fun to drive through. Jacksonville, FL always seems to have traffic and good luck getting through Atlanta without there being a wreck. I wished I lived out in Wyoming or Montana. Only traffic out that way is when it snows.

There is a rest area westbound in I think western Montana on I-90 that has a peaceful/beautiful river that is right behind where trucks park. I've sat out there for a while before enjoying the peace.... I need to ask for a load back to Montana haha, love that state.

Best "scenic route" in Canada from east to west; Hwy 17-Nipigon Ont to Sault st Marie, following Lake Superior Shore. Hwy 11 north - Nipigon Ont to Beardmore, following Lake Helen to Lake Nipigon Unreal scenery.
