The Desert Eagle had such an impact on me as a kid that I still pick it in every game i play today, bc I feel like an absolute badass. Definitely 1st place, no discussion.
Yeah i feel the same man, specially cuz i grew up playing games like Tomb Raider and Resident Evil, which both gave godlike treatment to weapons like Desert Eagle/Magnuns and Shotguns, having me love those weapons ever since, no matter the game they're in.
@@msvalentine1902 i know this is 8 months late but if you want to play them with a controller there are fan made patches or engine replacements for that. Tomb1main TR2Main tomb3, tomb4 and tomb5
Yup, the Desert Eagle is definitely the champion of guns - looks cool, sounds cool, works like a charm against all enemies. BTW, I really like how Lara looks with the MP5 on her back, so I always make sure to select it briefly before switching to something else while playing TR3. Just seeing that SMG on her back makes her look sooooooooooooo badass! One mystery that may be worth looking into - what did Lara do with the Meteorite artifacts after the events of TR3/TLA? They seem pretty dangerous ot be kept in the trophy room, so I suppose she hides them in some distant, isolated place...
Seriously, the Desert Eagle has the best sound, I kinda wish I would've made a point about that in the video. I agree completely, the MP5 looks amazing. Especially during the Nevada chapter, in that outfit, she looks so badass with that gun on her back. That's a very good point regarding the Meteorite Artefact 😅 I wouldn't want those things laying around the Croft manor, that's for damn sure!
Great mystery I never thought of that! I love TR3! Imagine if we could have gone right through Croft manor? Also been thinking the same for years! Where did the media PACs,flares, ammo and guns come from!
There was also the mixup with gun models in the classic games. In promos and in game she's usually using Browning Hi-Powers, but a lot of in game cutscenes she's using either 1911's or Desert Eagles. They tried to reference that in Anniversary by making the magnums Deagles in that.
I discovered your channel a couple weeks ago and binged all the videos, it's clear that Tomb Raider is as big of a part of your childhood as it was may peoples, including mine and I love the doses of nostalgia your videos bring! Thanks for another great one and always with the funny intros about the mysteries of life lol! 😁
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it. I love the Tomb Raider games so much. I played them over and over again as a child, and they clearly left a huge impression on me, since I'm here nearly 25 years later making videos about them, haha. Thank you so much for watching 😊
The harpoon gun deserves its spot. For some perplexing reason it's the only firearm that has animation for reloading. It's just a cumbersome weapon and not fun to use all around. The UPU in TR3 by comparison got rid of that reloading nonsense. I don't like the vehicle itself, but it did make engaging with enemies underwater less frustrating.
Oh right, the reloading... I should've mentioned that. That's so odd, and out of place in Tomb Raider, really. Like I said, I love the idea of underwater combat, they just managed to make it "not fun" :/
Desert Eagle is my favourite weapon as well, I loved the part when you escape from the High Security Compand, this is such an epic moment 😃 Uzis and shotgun are very practical as well for annoying enemies
I just love ur videos 😂ur narrating voice and style, the quirky intro and how elaborate and fun ur videos and ideas r ❤ always up for one of ur videos.
Yay! Another video from you, so amazing! 🥰 I love this so much and agree with your ranking! The Desert Eagle is absolutely number 1 for me and it’s so sad it’s only in TR3! The only one I would change is I would put the grenade launcher higher as I love that one a lot and it makes me laugh 😂 but this was an amazing ranking! Thank you for the video! It’s my birthday this week so this video felt like a great birthday treat 🥰❤️❤️❤️
Hahaha, yes, I remember your Coastal Village Grenade Launcher frenzy, that was so damn entertaining! 😂 Imagine the criminal investigators arriving at the island, only to find hundreds of pieces of people everywhere. Eww, that was gross. Oh that's awesome! 😃 Happy birthday when the day arrives! I hope you'll have a great day, without any flying turkeys or crocodiles 😊 Thank you SO much, I really appreciate it! 🥰
My favorite weapons are the Dual Pistols and Bow and Arrow. I would like to have on the unified timeline these two weapons available from the beginning. I also like the Shotgun, Uzis, Rifles and the others, they fit very well on Lara's journey. Hey, AxMania, could you please make a video about how did the animals get on those locations on the classics and how could they survive there? I'm replaying the games and I was wondering that. Nice video as always, you are amazing!
I actually like the bow and arrow from the prequels as well, but I just miss the dual pistols so badly. Yes that's a huge mystery as well, especially in areas like St. Francis Folly, Colosseum and so on. These ancient places without vegetation, and far away from civilisation. A great suggestion, thank you so much!
Find my self much in agreement with you here sir!! Besides the awsome pistols, I always felt the safest with the desert eagle and I personally find it so much more slick in comparison to the revolver. The Uzi's definitely come next, I always wished there was more ammo for them around so I could use them more often 😄 Also yes!!! The TR3 desert eagle moment was amazing and the track playing is one of my favourites. And 100% agree on the dual pistols. Why would crystal be so cruel as to set up this awsome, almost dual pistols origins moment, at the end of TR 2013, having us all like ohh Lara's sooo starting with them in the next one.. and 10 years.. still nothing. And they even had Rost being with the dual pistols in that game, much adding to the set up for Lara weilding dual pistols in the future, sort of taking after her mentor.. Well, here's to hoping !!! We have being doing a lot of that for quite some time now 😄
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that! I agree with everything you say here. There definitely is too little uzi ammo. As a kid, I almost exclusively used the dual pistols through out the entire games, because I didn't like the thought of running out of ammo 😂 - which is a bit stupid. And yeah, come on Crystal. We need those pistols back so badly now.
Ohh and yeah about the backpack.. me and my best mate used to call it the Sport Billy back pack 😄😄 (probably this is a super old reference but it was so fitting)
The M16 was cool, but it was really hard to use in some combat situations with fast enemies. I always liked the Uzis and Magnum pistols. And the crossbow explosives were great for tough enemies or that puzzle. I remember using the shotgun a lot in Last Revelation.
I agree. It's really awesome for a level like Floating Islands, with those strong enemies levitating in the distance, because it's so powerful and fast. A shame about the limitations it puts on Lara's moveset, but it does make sense.
Oh, that's cool! I'm sorry I ranked it so low 😅 I don't really have anything against it, I just don't really happen to use it much, outside Egyptian Adventure.
New AxMania video - check It's a ranking vid - check ESC mystery involved - check XD Great vid as always!! And how funny is the scene with Winston walking around throwing goodies LOL
Haha, it kind of makes sense since it's a heavy weapon that requires precision, but yeah... It's a pain in the ass to use in some combat encounters. Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
Desert Eagle and the Uzis are definitely the best weapons. Im replaying TR 1,2 and 3 (+all Expansions) at the moment and its just great to do it all again :D
I’m not a gun specialist, I don’t like guns in real life, but when I was younger I was once taken to the shooting range. Of course, I wanted to be a Lara Croft and shoot from two guns at once, but instructors who were there told me that this is generally not the best way of holding a weapon. It’s much harder to aim well, be stable and be safe while holding two pistols. They said that while it’s not impossible to do well and with a lot of training some results can be achieved, it’s easier and better when holding one weapon correctly. Kinda like you can train to be able to write with both of your hands at the same time, but it’s probably better to write with your dominant hand anyway. But of course, single gun doesn’t look as badass, so that’s why there are so many movie and game characters that are portrayed with double guns :D I did wonder if the weapon choice was supposed to compliment inexperienced Lara with simpler weapons and show her rise to greatness (as she did get to shoot dual pistols at the end of TR2013), but they seem not to have gone for that angle. Shame, the bow is so unoriginal in my opinion. And not easy at all! That being said, the dual guns only came to their real utility in Underworld, where Lara could actually aim at two targets at once. One of the reasons why TRU is my favourite modern game :D
Yeah, me neither. I don't like guns outside video games or movies, at all. That's an interesting story, thank you for sharing! It makes total sense, as I imagine the aiming would be really difficult, without using two hands to line up the pistols aim with your target. Especially considering how surprisingly heavy pistols are :P I like your point about why the dual pistols are missing in the prequels, as Lara is too inexperienced in those games to pull off firing two pistols at once. That makes total sense. I agree, the bow is not iconic at all :( It's a sort of go-to weapon for a character in a survival game or movie, so yeah, unoriginal for an iconic character like Lara, who already HAD her own unique weapon(s). I haven't played Underworld for ages, but I remember that game had the best combat in the series. I absolutely loved using the pistols during acrobatics in that game, it was so fun.
Tomb Raider III was the first TR game I played and surprisingly (?) also contains my favorite TR weapons: uzis, rocket launcher, MP5, and desert eagle (in that order). I remember never being a fan of the grenade launcher, and outright hating the harpoon gun. I also remember that I often just kept using the pistols because I was afraid to run out of ammo for the 'special' guns and thought that I really need those later in the game (even though in most cases there is more than enough ammo lying around and if you do run out you can easily switch to another 'special' gun) haha
Hahaha, I was EXACTLY the same. I completed Tomb Raider III almost entirely using pistols, because I hated the thought of running out of ammo for the other weapons! 😂 I agree about the Grenade Launcher to an extent, what I really find annoying about it is how poor it's targeting is, when Lara jumps. The grenades are very unprecise during her acrobatics.
@@AxMania Precisely, that's it ;) but why the hell were we so conservative in weapon/ammo use, when experimenting/using different types of weapons/ammo against the different types of enemies is so much fun?! Oh well, at least we had a challenging playstyle ((almost) Pistols-Only), quite impressive when you play these games like that, especially if you are (very) young, come to think of it.
@@MdB92 Yes exactly! You'd think that children didn't have the discipline to save ammo, and just use rocket launchers on crows and what not, but apparently not. I've definitely become better at switching between the weapons now.
@@AxMania I think most children (and many adults?) are indeed that way (based on my experience). Some (including myself and you) are different. I never rushed through levels or simply fired away with the rocket launcher on a crow (haha) but really took my time to look around and find as most of the hidden items/secrets as I could to get the most out of the game, all while being careful with (the ammo of) my 'special' weapons. (Both playstyles (and any other) are obviously fine, you can play the games in whatever way you want, and one is not better than the other, just different.) This has not really changed even though I obviously am a lot older now, although I do experiment more, and yeah I also became better at picking the 'best' weapon for each situation/type of enemy.
Hahaha I love these videos because the things you talk about are literally things I spent hours thinking about as a child, especially why there are supplies like ammo and medi paks in remote places 😅 Also the crossbow might have had limited uses but I always kept it equipped anyway because I thought Lara looked badass with it in cutscenes!
Haha, I'm glad to hear that! :D Yes, I completely agree! I should have included this in my video. I actually have the crossbow on Lara's back for most of The Last Revelation, because the weapon makes Lara look like a real adventurer.
@@AxMania Exactly! But it annoys me how if you equip the uzis they don't show up in her holsters. My favourite combo in TR3 was MP5 on back, equip uzis and THEN desert eagle, so she'd have an uzi in one pocket and the eagle in the other. She looked like a literal action hero!
I actually adore a crossbow - especially with explosive ammo, I like when how you can pick a target of the distance and blow it to pieces, I am using it more than granade launcher :D but I must admit that the poisonous arrows are quite disappointing...
My favorite weapon in these games has gotta be the magnum pistols, although I always ended up using the normal pistols to save ammo; and I hope you never run out of weird musical trivia, I'd love to hear something goofy about that 15 hour play by Richard Wagner if there was anything worth hearing about ot ; I think it was called "the ring cycle" or something 😂😂
I suppose I'd rank them pretty similarly, with one exception: The crossbow. It might not be very powerful, but its fun factor is really high for me! Sniping skeletons' skulls (or arms) is really amusing, and if I want to deal with them faster, then the explosive ammo is perfect. Haven't used the poison ammo, maybe I should try, might be fun too! And maybe I'd rank the shotgun a bit higher also for its anti-skeleton power. I love that you can use it to knock them off ledges in case you don't have any explosive weapons or just don't want to waste their ammo. And there's also one less-known use for the shotgun (which at least one TRLE level actually made mandatory to use, so good luck if you don't know about it) - using the look button, you can *aim* with the shotgun manually. In another TRLE I accidentally found a shortcut because the authors didn't expect me to not look for the revolver and the laser sight and instead use my shotgun to snipe what I needed to snipe :D But yeah, I agree with most of your assessments. And of course Desert Eagle would be number one, I expected nothing different :D
Haha, shooting the skeletons with the crossbow is fun, indeed! I should've highlighted that. It's really only the Harpoon Gun that I find a bit "meh" on this list, as I think they all have something valuable to offer. I had NO IDEA you could manually aim with the shotgun!!! I'm going to check that out immediately, haha! I'm glad you agree with my number one! :D
@@AxMania They gave the harpoon gun one ability that no other gun has to force us to use it no matter how bad it is XD Hehe have fun with the shotgun! Not sure if it works in every TR though, but maybe?
My favourite are the Magnums, but I might be biased because I only tend to play TR1 and TR2. I only like them because they look cool and sound even better. I tend to hoard ammo unnecessarily despite knowing ammo is plentiful so usually end up using the pistols. +(I'm glad I'm not the only person in the world to get Mars Bar vibes from their ammo). Agree with the harpoon gun being the worst, if I get a chance I'll find a place to shoot aquatic enemies from above with regular weapons or swim away rather than try and use the thing as I usually end up taking more damage especially against divers otherwise.
The Magnums are awesome :D And I'm glad I'M not the only one thinking their clips look like Mars bars. I'm the same, I very rarely actually use the Harpoon Gun, unfortunately. I always tend to lure the underwater enemies near the shore (like crocodiles in particular, which are near impossible to kill with the Harpoon Gun), and then shoot them from above.
The fact that in the remasters they added a pickup stash of all your items you collected in India and Nevada desert is amazing. There's like 60 or more desert eagle ammo you lose and it's awesome to be able to use the gun more often in the rest of the levels
Though they function similarly, the "automatics" and the "magnums" are different weapons, enough that they might occupy different spaces. The "magnums" of TR1 appear to be high caliber pistols, perhaps .357 Desert Eagles. I imagine the Desert Eagle Lara uses in TR4 is .44 caliber. The automatics, on the other hand, appear to be TEC-9, KG-99, or AB-10.
Oh, ok, really? That's actually really interesting. I don't know anything about guns, so I was solely going by "how the feel", gameplay-wise, in this ranking, and in terms of that, I can't really tell them apart. They do the same damage, similar sound, etc.
Interesting rankings. I would put the crossbow a bit higher, maybe above the grenade launcher, which I personally barely use, simply for the accurate and effective explosive ammo. Absolutely agree on the Desert Eagle being #1, though, and I rank the Revolver in the same place.
Yes, the crossbow is actually a better explosive gun, it's just strange that I never really use it much. There's something unsatisfactory to me about it. That's awesome! Yeah, the Revolver is very cool too, but I prefer the Desert Eagle due to the way it was introduced in the game, the levels it appear in, and it's sound.
Great video as always. I wish you did a mysteries video investigating the civilization depicted by the paintings on the walls of the caverns/temples in the levels "Furnace of the Gods" and "Kingdom" from Tomb Raider 2: Golden Mask. They seem to be connected and tell a story as to how the tribe used to throw polar bears on a pit, then they'd freeze and melt afterwards which unleashes a kind of dark entity. This is what I got from the paintings but I think you'd be able to do a better job at deciphering them.
That's really interesting, and a great suggestion! I'll definitely consider that, thank you. I'd love to do more videos about the expansions in general, since they in general seem to be a bit overlooked.
@@dg_777player5 Oh yes, that expansion is great. Especially Furnace of the Gods and Kingdom are some of the best and most beautiful levels in the series, in my opinion.
@@AxMania I couldn't agree more, they were fantastic. Now I just need to complete Nightmare in Vegas to be done with it which is a weird level to say the least.
Hey, these videos are great! Fun fact... the sound effects for the automatic pistols are taken directly from Robocops pistol! Keep up the good work, subbed!
I know the M16 is cumbersome and frustrating to use, but that sound, to me, is Tomb Raider (My First proper gaming experience was helping my Dad beat 1 & 2). I just love the way it sounds.
There is one thing I noticed about the mp5 in tr3. It also has a much higher range than other weapons. I couldn’t aim an annoying turret in Area 51 with any gun... except the mp5! Very useful for sniping.
Yeah, absolutely, that's also why I love to use it against the strong mutants in Lost City of Tinnos, when they approach me on the bridge. It's got excellent range and does great damage.
Great video, as usual. :) Personally, I would put the Shotgun a bit higher. Also, I agree with the Desert Eagle being the best gun in the series, but I feel the Revolver is identical. It only changes name and appearance.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! Yeah, I kinda feel I underrated the shotgun myself, but my mind often changes a bit on these rankings after I post them. You are right about the revolver, the only reason why the Desert Eagle is so much higher, is because it's tied to an absolutely epic moment in Tomb Raider III.
Yet another great video! I agree with your reasoning. I will however say that the grenade launcher is so different in TR2 compared to the later games, that it feels like a different weapon.
Thank you so much! Oh, that's interesting! I've never noticed that. I would actually like and go back and see if I can notice a difference. They obviously look very different.
It's a super situational weapon compared to stuff like uzis and desert eagle, but my favourite is grenade launcher - it's actually a bit of a trademark for me between my other TR fan friends. :D About the Mars bar ammo, when I was like 7 years of age, I had a friend who I played TR2 with and we used to go over all the items and agree on what it looks like, hahah
@@AxMania lol, I think we called either uzi or automatic pistol ammo chocolate bars, large medipack candy bags, grenades chocolate eggs, flares cigarettes and shotgun shells tobacco pipes 😆We were slightly creative.
I agree that the Desert Eagle is the best of the bunch for all the reasons you mentioned. Other than that my personal favourite was the M16. it sounded awesome and was great at long distances, completely not practical but also made Lara look like a badass. (MP5 did the same trick in III, but personally looked less extreme)
The desert eagle is truly the best weapon in Tomb Raider for me and it was sort of underwhelming when TLR replaced it with the revolver, though that gun is nice too. It was even fun to use in Chronicles which is otherwise a trashfire and atleast both were compatible with the laser sight. I didn't use the grenade launcher that much but now that im replaying the games i'll try and see some uses for it instead of hoarding all that ammo for the very end heh. MP5/HK Gun felt so nice to use for me, i liked using higher caliber guns despite limiting your movement. Crossbow was good for utility and decent for combat but the poison arrows were such a waste, didn't knew how it worked at first and when i figured it out, i didn't care for it. Great video as always, keep up the good work!
I obviously agree with everything you say here, good points! I'm kind of disappointed that I've never quite clicked with the crossbow, I just find that weapon too... situational? Like it's designed for specific points in the game, and I don't find much use for it outside of those moments. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
@@AxMania Yeah, it's more of a tool that you can occasionally use as a weapon but atleast it's fun to shoot the heads off of the skeletons and watch them run around like a headless chicken. Though it makes sense why Core made it like this, considering the combat in TLR isn't as common as some of the previous games.
@@bencesipos6345 Crossbow is a must-have in later levels of TR4. Skeletons and mummies can only be destroyed with explosive ammo, harpies and giant scorpions are too powerful for other weapons. 3 explosive shots kill giant Scorpion, it needs 6-7 shots from revolver to die.
The weopans are an Amazing Part of Tomb Raider. I love how in Some TRLE they change the Weapons up, in one TRLE they had the Harpoon Gun with Explosive ammo
@@AxMania Yes it allows you to use Explosives underwater. Id Highly recommend playing some Custom Levels. Alot of them are better than the Origianals. Some People spend Years making these games. For people to play for Free
@@AxMania I am starting now a Long Play on my beloved Sega Saturn. I am sure, a Tomb Raider Lets Play with your producing skills will boost your channel.
The Desert Eagle was an absolute powerhouse in 3. It was also the inspiration as to why child me was like "I want one". Sure Last Action Hero and Commando were inspirations too but Tomb Raider is why adult me owns a Desert Eagle. Thanks...Eidos...
Ey man, really cool video once again! That intro template really works xD. l can mainly agree with that ranking, pretty accurate. l need to add a very small note that ranking can't be always accurate due to a bug existing with ALL dual weapons. Basically Lara by default, shoots with the regular animation which has the SAME speed with when shooting an enemy with only ONE of the pistols. Thing is that if you face the enemy again with both weapons, they shoot double as fast which makes dual weapons amazing! Not 100% if it's a bug tho but l felt it was a nice thing to note. Also it is kinda funny how you can beat tr1 with just regular pistols, l mean, l mainly use pistols in that game (since there were few gun types) and l ended up having like 4900 uzi XD. Although the shotgun was a must for the Torso Boss but still with some roll backing the ai gets confused pretty easily really :D Again, really cool video and hope you keep growing!!!
Oh that's a really interesting point, never realized that! Haha, I'm the same, as a kid I often only used pistols because I hated the thought of losing ammo 😃 Good point about Torso, that fight is so damn claustrophobic and intense that you just need something powerful - and quickly! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! 😊
10:37 it depends on where you go first because when i was playing tomb raider 3 for the first few times i always went to the dinosaur levels(i dont remember right now its name) but on the boss level of that area ot can be found in a secret in the end of the level
Yeah, that's true. Same thing with the MP5 actually. If you play South Pacific Islands first, you get it from the dead soldier in the room with the tiny green dinosaurs, whereas if you play Nevada first, you get it from an armory at the beginning of Area 51.
SO GLAD you put the Desert Eagle at #1!!! Without it I wouldn't have taken down Willard! As crazy as Lara's arsenal is in TR3, I just devolved to using the Desert Eagle (once I used the all-weapons cheat, don't judge me!) for every situation. And as iconic as Lara's twin pistols are, the Desert Eagle in my mind is everything Lara is: It may look like a dainty handgun, but it packs a PUNCH!
@@AxMania I only used it 'cause that was the first time I'd ever beaten it. Now I wanna see if I can do it without it! Even then though, I intend to play Nevada after India first!
I made several efforts thinking you could get that medipack in the quicksand in Tomb Raider 3, but failed every time. Quite a frustrating experience. I think the weapons Lara has in the artwork for Tomb Raider 1, are actually Mac-10s, not usiz, but the game versions obviously are usiz. I agree on the desert eagle being the best. It’s a beastly weapon.
You and the song contest... I love these Intros from you. 😂 7:55 ROFL 9:18 Haha, you´re right. 😅😂 It was a cool idea to rank the weapons. I really can´t say how I would rank them. It´s not easy. By the way: I wrote you an e-mail. ;)
I’d rank the uzis and rocket launcher in joint first place as they’re my favourite weapons to use in TR3, especially in New Game + where they have infinite ammo but enemies are much stronger.
Thank you for the video! Since you brought it up i agree that abundant ammo appearing in isolated ancient tombs / natural environment does not make sense, unless they appear with some visual decayed dead body of an earlier explorer or when exploring some modern buildings with armoured NPCs (TR3’s Crash Site’s big gun was introduced very nicely). The dual pistols really need to come back as they are part of Lara’s image. But I am okay with them not installed with infinite ammo. If there is one thing i think the reboot has done well, that would be the crafting and collection of materials to make ammo and medical stuff. So this kind of provides “infinite” ammo for Lara. Game developers need to work out on how to craft bullets tho (i think that’s why they adopted bow and arrow in the first place, still doesn’t change the fact dual pistols should come back) Even if they are with infinite ammo, the backpack from TR4 or maybe a new backpack she raided must be able to handle the storage!
Thank you for watching! That's actually a very good point about the reboot trilogy crafting. It doesn't really make sense that the dual pistols have unlimited ammo, but we would've been in big trouble in all the classics if we had to collect ammo for them as well, haha 😂 Yeah, someone suggested to me that the backpack must be magic, which I think is true 😉
Great mystery I never thought of that! I love TR3! Imagine if we could have gone right through Croft manor? Also been thinking the same for years! Where did the media PACs,flares, ammo and guns come from! Also being in Britain guns are illegal! Did you feel more free in the prior games compared to the parkour like gameplay now? Also gotta say great to see others still loving the classics,!
That's a great question. Yes, I definitely did feel more free in the classic games, than in the modern games. The modern games have more of the "standard" on-rails gaming, where cutscenes and gameplay sort of blend together, and you don't really figure things out on your own. The classic levels feel more like sandboxes where you need to figure everything out on your own, and if you die it's your own fault. If that makes sense? Likewise ;)
@@AxMania I agree 100% it's a shame really but fingers crossed they will go back to the original model as I feel they have kids turned it now into a assassin's Creed spin off in movement terms and gone very far away from there roots!
The games show Items that are Magical, so maybe the Back-Pack is just one of those Magical Items (kinda like the Suitcase in Fantastic Beasts that has an entire building inside it etc. (or a teleport, I don't know which it is)). Lara is an explorer so maybe she found the back-pack in an exploration (but we never see when or where) and the back-pack is larger on the inside.
Nice video man! My favourite has to be the classic dual pistols 😅 I always play 80% of the game with these weapons so that’s that! 🤟 2nf favourite are probably the uzis 🔫
Thank you so much! :D I had a really tough time not ranking the dual pistols first, because... they ARE Tomb Raider, basically. I used to do the same, as a kid I played almost entirely with the pistols. It's not until I've grown older I've truly started using the other guns, because I hated the thought of running out of ammo, haha.
Great vid! Although I think saying the M16/MP5 is useless is a bit of a stretch. The M16 is nearly indispensable in the Tibetan Foothills level. It kills the skidoo guys very quickly from a very long range giving you plenty of time and safety before he gets to you. The trick is to slow walk while firing, which is nice because much of TR's AI can be manipulated by slow walking forward or backward, like the Atlantean Mutants as an example. Looking forward to more vids! TR4 & 5 level ranking soon perhaps? :)
Thank you so much! Yeah, it is possible to get the job done, but I usually find it very awkward to use against close combat enemies, where Lara will take damage and struggle to lock onto the targets. It seems like it was designed specifically for long range enemies. They are awesome for Tibetan Foothills, agreed! I actually had no idea about the slow walk/AI thing, that's really interesting!
Came here hoping to figure out how weapons attach to Lara's backpack. Little me thought Lara had a really powerful magnet in it, lol. I once found a mod for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered that gives the backpack proper weapon holsters, but it mysteriously disappeared when I went to look for it again.
I would rank rocket and grenade launcher at the top, along with crossbow with explosive arrows, duh. I always hated how in old games she has no melee attacks, despite constantly using those in cutscenes, at bare minimum I'd want a takedown and Duke Nukem-like kick to enemies close to you. I wish someone would mod that into old games. I mean, animation is in the games for doors. Was Underworld the first one with Lara having proper hand to hand attacks outside of cutscenes?
Yeah, this has also always annoyed me. Lara is such a bad-ass, so it feels so unbelievable that she can't do any melee attacks. Especially because we see her do that on numerous occasions in cutscenes, like you point out. I find it really hard to believe that she couldn't deal with the prison guards at High Security Compound for example.
@@AxMania she can't kick little creepy monsters in Ireland, fight off bats or mice without guns which makes Lara look like Ray Liotta fishing in Heartbreakers! XD If remasters allow modding I'd love a mod that adds hand to hand combat hopefully on Metal Gear Solid level and makes pistol ammo limited. Hell it would be net upgrade for the final chapter of Chronicles, the one time we finished it we kept running out of ammo, thankfully the guys can be trapped.
Original dual pistols are the Brownings Hi-Power. In Anniversary they ware replaced with Colts 1911 (there are dual stack magazine 9x19mm variants of 1911s). UZIs are in fact not an UZIs, but the MAC10 Ingrams.
@@AxMania there's a page "internet movie firearms database". But it contain articles about videogames. You can find there articles about what firearms ware used as inspiration or modeled in Tomb Rider games. As a fun fact, Legend default pistols, pair of Heckler&Koch USP Mach ware in fact used by Core in Angel of darkness as a Vector R35. With mod or cheatcodes player can use dual R35s. So, to follow 2001 movie with dual USPs Mach for Lara was not only Crystal's idea, but also Core's.
The Desert Eagle had such an impact on me as a kid that I still pick it in every game i play today, bc I feel like an absolute badass. Definitely 1st place, no discussion.
Yes, totally! I obviously agree 😉
Yeah i feel the same man, specially cuz i grew up playing games like Tomb Raider and Resident Evil, which both gave godlike treatment to weapons like Desert Eagle/Magnuns and Shotguns, having me love those weapons ever since, no matter the game they're in.
I’d say the exact same thing about the Uzi and the MAC-10, all because of Tomb Raider. Use them in as many games as I can!
The only game where i did enjoy the Desert Eagle, it really has a punch, it's the first Soldier of Fortune game, late 90's.
@@dennissinned6299Never heard of it until now, but that alone is enough for me to give it a go!
Recently replayed the classics on steam after like.. 20 years :) Absolutely fantastic! I miss the old days.
Yes, they hold up amazingly well. I agree ☹️
Hey quick question, were you able to play using a controller?
@@msvalentine1902 i know this is 8 months late but if you want to play them with a controller there are fan made patches or engine replacements for that. Tomb1main TR2Main tomb3, tomb4 and tomb5
And Remasters now. Really injected a lot of life into the old classics.
If Lara's backpack leads to another dimension it would explain why she never got affected by the meteorite stones.
There it is: The Meteorite Artefact mystery solved!
4D Backpack XD
I guess we all did this as kids XD
There was also the mixup with gun models in the classic games. In promos and in game she's usually using Browning Hi-Powers, but a lot of in game cutscenes she's using either 1911's or Desert Eagles. They tried to reference that in Anniversary by making the magnums Deagles in that.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who made that Mars Bar connection!
Haha, me too!
I'm so glad you said it, the magnum amo totally looks like mars bars!
Hahaha :D
Love the random running gag of the Eurovision questions in the opening
Anyone else have love for the death animation the grenade launcher causes in TR2?
I do! 😃 It's so over-the-top, it's great!
I can't unsee the magnum ammo as Mars bars now 😂😂😭
Hahaha, I'm... sorry? 😂
I've guessed Desert Eagle quite right! Yes, it's fabulous. I also like Uzis and of course iconic Lara's pair pistols. Great job, thank you for video!
I obviously agree 😃 Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
Omg the Mars bars. I always wondered why those clips looked delicious x) Love you man, keep up the good work!
Hahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Thank you so much!
The desert eagle is my favorite too! Not just the damage but the name and design. Great video!
Yes it's awesome 😃 Thank you!
The Desert Eagle is totally the best weapon, it has the cool classic feel of the pistols while having so much power ❤️
Yup, it's so badass.
Desert Eagle is my favourite weapon as well, I loved the part when you escape from the High Security Compand, this is such an epic moment 😃 Uzis and shotgun are very practical as well for annoying enemies
Yes, that's seriously one of my favorite moments in the entire series! 😃
Hahaha Winston at the piano 😍 I love it
It's been over 20 years now and that sound the Desert Eagle makes is still my favorite gun sound in any game.
Agreed! 😎
Great video as always! And yes - the Magnum ammo definitely looks like Mars bars!!!
Hahaha, thank you so much!
THE WINSTON RUN!!!!! Best explanation we have and I'm dying of laugher here! Well played, my friend. :D
Haha 😂
I agree. The desert eagle is hands down the best, no arguing with that. The Uzi's come in a close second for me. Great video man.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! 😊
There's something so good about the way the MP5 sounds in TR3. It's like it's being pushed just a little bit beyond its maximum power somehow.
Agreed, that's a great way of describing it!
I just love ur videos 😂ur narrating voice and style, the quirky intro and how elaborate and fun ur videos and ideas r ❤ always up for one of ur videos.
Aww, thank you so much for your kind comment, I really appreciate that! :)

Haha, I don't think we'll ever run out of Eurovision oddities 😉
I hope you'll have a great day, without any flying turkeys or crocodiles 😊
Thank you SO much, I really appreciate it!
Heh, just a few hours ago I was thinking "I wonder what AxMania is up to, he's been quiet for some time" and boom - new video! Nice timing.
Aww, haha, thanks! I really appreciate it! 😎😊
Iam currently replaying the classics and Iam at TR4 so your Video came absoluty fitting ! :D
Oh I love your Channel
Have fun! 😃 The Last Revelation can be a difficult one to get through! Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
Find my self much in agreement with you here sir!! Besides the awsome pistols, I always felt the safest with the desert eagle and I personally find it so much more slick in comparison to the revolver. The Uzi's definitely come next, I always wished there was more ammo for them around so I could use them more often 😄
Also yes!!!
We need those pistols back so badly now.
i love that some youtubers post about TR to this day. Incredible game tbh
Haha, I don't think I'll ever run dry of things to talk about with these games ;)
lmfao the milk carton in the intro
Ohh and yeah about the backpack.. me and my best mate used to call it the Sport Billy back pack 😄😄 (probably this is a super old reference but it was so fitting)
Oh I know about Sport Billy! 😃 Now that's a blast to the past 😂
A shame about the limitations it puts on Lara's moveset, but it does make sense.
a little known fact that the skelatons in tr4 are super easy if you just shotgun blast them down a hole they instantly die
My favorite is the crossbow. It is accurate and efficient. Apart from that, all weapons have their use and are quite fun to use.
Oh, that's cool! I'm sorry I ranked it so low 😅 I don't really have anything against it, I just don't really happen to use it much, outside Egyptian Adventure.
@@AxMania it can also be used to snipe the skull off of the skeletons guards lol

Great vid as always!! And how funny is the scene with Winston walking around throwing goodies LOL
Hahaha, I'm glad you liked it! I'm sure that's the reason why there are so many medi-packs and ammo everywhere 😉
Another great video. I thought I was the only one who thought the Magnum clips looked like mars bars!
Haha, me too! They must've had them lying around on their desk when they designed the clips.
Oh, my god, I enjoy these videos so much. See you next month.
Haha, thank you so much! See you 😊
the assault rifle is supposed to be stationary only!?!? all this time i kept hating on it and thinking it was bugged
Agreed with the list, love it
Haha, it kind of makes sense since it's a heavy weapon that requires precision, but yeah... It's a pain in the ass to use in some combat encounters. Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
Another great vídeo legend.. valeu
Thank you so much Bruno 😊
@@AxMania I totaly agread with the list. The fealing using the Uzi and the Desert Eagle was amazing.
Desert eagle.. that moment in Nevada is my favourite part of the whole of franchise
Yes, it's awesome. So good.
Desert Eagle and the Uzis are definitely the best weapons. Im replaying TR 1,2 and 3 (+all Expansions) at the moment and its just great to do it all again :D
I'm glad you agree with me 😃 You know, I might do the same very soon. I just thought about it the other day.
I'd rank the exact same way! Brilliant video!
Oh, nice! :D Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
Desert Eagle was totally my favorite. Also liked the MP5 and M16 for long range targets. And the dual Uzis... were just plain badass.
Yup, agree with everything.
the TR3 MP5 sounds like an helicopter, so badass. I love it!
Yes, me too! I love the noise.
But of course, single gun doesn’t look as badass, so that’s why there are so many movie and game characters that are portrayed with double guns :D
I did wonder if the weapon choice was supposed to compliment inexperienced Lara with simpler weapons and show her rise to greatness (as she did get to shoot dual pistols at the end of TR2013), but they seem not to have gone for that angle.
Especially considering how surprisingly heavy pistols are :P
I like your point about why the dual pistols are missing in the prequels, as Lara is too inexperienced in those games to pull off firing two pistols at once.
Desert Eagle in tomb raider 3 way too overpowered, good video yet again 👍
Haha it is, but it's so fun to use. Thank you!
TR3 was my first too :)
Yeah, maybe I put the crossbow too low on the list. It's easier to use as an explosive gun than the Grenade Launcher for sure.
Haha, I was the same. I always conserved ammo to the point of almost only using the dual-pistols. Ohh, I heard about that somewhere! That was crazy!
In another TRLE I accidentally found a shortcut because the authors didn't expect me to not look for the revolver and the laser sight and instead use my shotgun to snipe what I needed to snipe :D
But yeah, I agree with most of your assessments.
@@AxMania They gave the harpoon gun one ability that no other gun has to force us to use it no matter how bad it is XD
Hehe have fun with the shotgun!
Great video. I'm picking the Uzi's simply because they were so dam hard to find in the first 2 games. The desert eagle is also great. Steve 👍
Thank you! The Uzis are a great pick 😃 Love their sound.
The fact that in the remasters they added a pickup stash of all your items you collected in India and Nevada desert is amazing. There's like 60 or more desert eagle ammo you lose and it's awesome to be able to use the gun more often in the rest of the levels
Yeah, I had no idea about that. That really makes Tomb Raider III much easier.
You should have more subs considering how good your videos are, and those jokes of Eurovision, are Exquisite
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! Hahaha, thank you! :D
Oh that song is the greatest
Crossbow with optic and explosive arrows FTW
@@AxMania Thank you very much, I played 2's expansion for the first time recently and was really intrigued by those paintings.
@@dg_777player5 Haha, that one I'm not so crazy about 😅
Hey, these videos are great! Fun fact... the sound effects for the automatic pistols are taken directly from Robocops pistol!
Keep up the good work, subbed!
Thank you! 😃 That's awesome, I had no idea! I'll keep that in wind next time I watch Robocop. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
I know the M16 is cumbersome and frustrating to use, but that sound, to me, is Tomb Raider (My First proper gaming experience was helping my Dad beat 1 & 2). I just love the way it sounds.
Agreed, haha! It's so... overwhelming, as if the weapon can barely even handle being fired itself.
Personally, I would put the Shotgun a bit higher.
Hell yeah, no quibbles here!
I will continue to watch you lovely RUclips channel
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
Hard same for the Desert Eagle! The M16 was one of my fav too!
Haha! Yeah, the M16 is cool too.
@@AxMania The way I remember it the weapons shoots out grenades in a straight line in TR2. In the later games however it sorta drops them in stead.
Love the Eurovision reference!!!!
Haha! 😂
It's a super situational weapon compared to stuff like uzis and desert eagle, but my favourite is grenade launcher - it's actually a bit of a trademark for me between my other TR fan friends. :D
About the Mars bar ammo, when I was like 7 years of age, I had a friend who I played TR2 with and we used to go over all the items and agree on what it looks like, hahah
Haha, that sounds amazing! Any other fun ones? I kinda thought that the TR3 rockets looked like lollipop heads with their wrapping on 🤔
@@AxMania lol, I think we called either uzi or automatic pistol ammo chocolate bars, large medipack candy bags, grenades chocolate eggs, flares cigarettes and shotgun shells tobacco pipes 😆We were slightly creative.
Yeah, but the sound of the MP5 is the best, haha! I love the insane noise it produces.
You should do a top 10 item list featuring all tomb raider games ever
That's a cool suggestion, thank you! 😮
Agreed, and that sounds amazing! Can you use it with explosive ammo underwater!?
@@AxMania Yes it allows you to use Explosives underwater. Id Highly recommend playing some Custom Levels. Alot of them are better than the Origianals.

Haha, that's awesome! :D
Although the shotgun was a must for the Torso Boss but still with some roll backing the ai gets confused pretty easily really :D
Again, really cool video and hope you keep growing!!!
Me too! The Desert Eagle is SO bad-ass, and satisfactory to use. I don't judge you, I've done exactly the same thing in the past :D
Yup, me too. Core Design could be so cruel sometimes, haha. Oh, interesting, I had no idea!
You and the song contest... I love these Intros from you. 😂
7:55 ROFL
9:18 Haha, you´re right. 😅😂
It was a cool idea to rank the weapons. I really can´t say how I would rank them. It´s not easy.
By the way: I wrote you an e-mail. ;)
I know! 😂 Thank you! Oh, I'll check that out later!
I’d rank the uzis and rocket launcher in joint first place as they’re my favourite weapons to use in TR3, especially in New Game + where they have infinite ammo but enemies are much stronger.
Yeah, I actually feel I put the two explosive guns a bit too low in this ranking. Especially the rocket launcher.
Game developers need to work out on how to craft bullets tho (i think that’s why they adopted bow and arrow in the first place, still doesn’t change the fact dual pistols should come back)
Even if they are with infinite ammo, the backpack from TR4 or maybe a new backpack she raided must be able to handle the storage!
Thank you for watching! That's actually a very good point about the reboot trilogy crafting. It doesn't really make sense that the dual pistols have unlimited ammo, but we would've been in big trouble in all the classics if we had to collect ammo for them as well, haha 😂
Yeah, someone suggested to me that the backpack must be magic, which I think is true 😉
The 2 Uzi's and automatic Pistols will always be my top 2. How mobile Laura can still be while shooting is why they are the top 2.
Yeah, Lara's mobility is a big reason why those guns are so great. She can deal a lot of damage, while moving all over the place.
i thought on the desert eagles too
7:54 did anyone noticed what he actually meant when he said "than her 2 pistols?" 😂
😇😅
Have you already made a video rating Lara's outfits?
If not, please do!
I've made a Tier List about Lara's guns in the past and I ranked the Desert Eagle at high rank
Oh cool! Good taste, haha ;)
That's a great theory! We actually see her finding it in Angkor Wat, so you may be right! 😮
I totally agree. Desert eagle is the best weapon from Tomb Raider. I cannot defeat the last boss without it.
Yeah, it really is crucial for that fight!
As a kid, I always thought the magnum clips were candy bars when I’d stumble upon them 😂
I'm glad I was not alone! 😂
Does anyone have hd sound effects of the guns
The only separate sound effects I've found have been pretty low quality, unfortunately 😕
Yees!! New video 😎😎
Kinda hate that they have to nerf every gun in some way. Particularly the assault rifles.
Also, back pack mystery: Lara is Mary Poppins
Yeah, but it does make sense that there is some kind of limitation to Lara's moveset when she carries such big guns.
Oh my, you solved the mystery!!!
9:16 Yep, I see it.
Haha, yay! 😅
Haha 😂 I've never heard about that, that sounds pretty cool.
XD
If remasters allow modding I'd love a mod that adds hand to hand combat hopefully on Metal Gear Solid level and makes pistol ammo limited.
Ohh, interesting, haha. I had no idea.
