This VHS promo video for Alien Romulus is maybe the best piece of marketing I have seen for any film release in recent years. It really boosts my confidence for the movie knowing that the director (Fede Alvarez) cares so much, even right down to the small details. God I hope this film nails it!

Im so close to seeing this in the imax and i cannot belive it. By this clip only, i feel so positive and i have a feeling i will start calling him his true name: Fede "the fu*king legend" Alvarez. Im pretty sure he is as much as a fan of alien and aliens as you and me and will bring order to reality and for us fans and just give us the best movie since my dad went and saw terminator 2 and brough me home a signed poster and braged about it! Dude, you have to keep making regular videos such as this, for us! How else will some of us get to freely vent our emotional damage (and have it recieved in such good nature by yourself) . I think maybe my doom and gloom posts are just a way to disguise my inner exitement.

It's hard for me to hide my excitement at this point. I couldn't have asked for better visuals, sound, and atmosphere. Whoever edited the trailer is also a genius. The acting seems good, and we already know what the main story is, but I hope we're in for some surprises too. Now the last thing that remains to be seen is the character development. Will they make us care?
@@techstacker5361 you said it, it's all about caring. Even if this was another AvP film but we cared about the characters then I'd be just as happy.

I'm surprised nobody has de-interlaced this footage, upscaled it to 1440x1080 at 60fps and uploaded it - just for the hell of it. The clickity-clack ratchet sound of the seat gives me nostalgic yeebie-jeebies. Whoever cracked the whip on this at Disney must've gone up to the Me-Too Lesbians on the Board (yes, they have them) and went full Jack Nicholson SHINING: I HAVE LET YOU FUCK UP MY LIFE SO FAR BUT I AM NOT GONNA LET YOU FUCK THIS UP. It is everything the STAR WARS/INDIANA JONES reboots were not. Can't wait to see those tapes turn up on eBay for a hundred grand right next to that 1998 McDonald's Mulan Szechuan Sauce for McNuggets (all hail Rick & Morty). I grew up in the country and we had to ride bikes to a country gas station to rent those old tapes, it also had PHOENIX, GALAGA, POLE POSITION, and PLEIADES arcade cabinets in a little room - it was like civilization to us. They never bothered to check for age and thus at 15 were able to watch the Rated-R THE TERMINATOR.
I love the drama of the drop ship takeoffs and landings. For anyone thinking the real deal is a picnic, I submit to you this footage from inside the empty ARTEMIS moon capsule during re-entry testing last year. If no one told you what it was like and you were onboard, you would think were about to die. The popping sound is the valves opening and closing for the attitude jets... which you would hear were you, say, matching the roll vector of a space station (I wonder if Fede will tip to the hat to Kubrick w/ "2001" music just as Cameron did in ALIENS?). If it looks like she reentered the atmosphere and skipped back out then came in again, it's because that's exactly what she did:

Looks great. We had a chat about Longlegs the other day, one thing that happened, the showing was an hour late as the projector wasn't working so we got a complimentary ticket (VUE) so I guess I'll be using that to watch this little beauty 🤙

This is a great piece of marketing.
I think that they could have done a scene between the group on the Colony like a 5 Minute Promotional Scene like the Last Supper from ALIEN Covenant.
So we can get to know the Characters a little before the Movies release
A fun idea. I'd imagine it could be like Blade Runner, where you just see them pacing through the streets buying noodles and chatting on how to get out 😄

believe it or not they have just released copies of Terrifier and Terrifier 2 commercially on VHS. I can imagine they may well release Romulus on VHS

oh you means science that might have occurred somewhere from the date of Renaissance station onwards? It would be interesting to imagine that we altered its evolutionary process somehow.
Yeah, something like that. I like that better than 'black magic goo', because the goo kind of overrides millions of years of honing the xeno's ability and instinct as a space survivor and as a predator.
Not gonna lie, I was super skeptical about this film at first. The confirmation that the Big Chap does in fact make some sort of appearance just seemed like a cheap and lazy way to connect the films. And if the Big Chap did in fact survive and is the cause of more death and terror, then everything Ripley endured and suffered through was all for nothing! Still not 100% sure how I feel about that but further plot leaks and all the excellent marketing up to this point has helped me change my mind a bit and I am now actually getting excited for this film. Cinematography and practical effects look FANTASTIC. Additional leaks and footage indicate that it will in fact be a different Xenomorph that terrorizes the crew so that's very reassuring. We'll evidently get to see an expansion of lore by witnessing more of the Alien's life-cycle. And Alvarez's assertion that this will be a back-to-basics straight-up horror film is a welcome relief from Ridley Scott's ridiculous bullshit attempt as more deep underlying philosophical themes. It's a freaking monster movie, man. Monsters stalk and kill people because that's what monsters in horror films do. As usual, a movie like this will come down to characters and story but I am much more hopeful now than I was a few months ago. The marketing has been absolutely brilliant so let's hope that's not the best thing about this film!
@@mattearhart2776 I was kinda on the same page as you. It's really got me more excited about the film also. Still very unsure how the performances will play out but everything else seems to already be in the bag at least. The promos recently from TV spot to the VHS all looks very real and has a gritty and authentic feel thank god. 🤞🤞🤞
I can almost smell an easter egg of how this movie ends for the creature, when the oxygen saturated environment of that ships cabin lightens up the flame of the lighter and burns the cigarette in 2 seconds...
I was imagining that guy using the lighter as a torch which suddenly reveals an alien near him like what we saw with Dallas in the original with his flame thrower 😉
Hopefully these Zoomer actors can carry the same spirit as previous characters in Alien Movies.

I just pray it'll be half decent ...Alien and Aleins are my faviroute horror sci fi movies and anything that came after them was a let down (for me anyway)...I know that Fede Alvirez is a massive fan of the first 2 movies also and that gives me a bit of hope but I've also got that little niggle at the back of my mind that the vile Disney owns the franchise now ....we can only wait and see

It looks promising. But we'll never know if the movie will be a hit until we hear the dialogue and how they act upon things, pacing and if the alien can appear frightening. I'm not hoping for a reinventing the wheel-movie, just something that stay true to the atmosphere and seriousness of the first 2 movies. The replay value is very much about not getting annoyed at things in the movie from pretty much the first minute, as we can experience over and over again watching garbage Prometheus and trash bin Covenant.

Yeah man, I got the same vibe. As someone who loathes those same (loathsome!) things the OP just mentioned, that by themselves are the utterly unforced errors that EASILY _ruin_ good-films-that-could-have-been-great (Prometheus/Covenant being such PRIME examples) with such unforgivably deliberate annoyance that you can palpably sense the intentionality involved by the writers to actively ruin a good thing... I _DON'T_ get that feeling, here, with this.
My hope in this movie continues to actually GROW with each promo released, and with every little thing I hear about it. 👍👍👍!! ZERO unforced errors, yet!
Prometheus was not garbage, Covenant was though.

My thoughts exactly. It's a nice promo, but when you think of the high quality medium available now, this promo on VHS at its best would still have worked. I'm probably in the minority here, but I think Aliens really lost something with all the constant releases just to improve the quality, there was just something special about that grainy look.
it's a nice thought and tip to the originals but I don't want to see a movie that has a bunch of remember that and remember that. I want a good original alien movie without a bad script, bad actors, black goo. if they read some of the books or comics they wouldn't have to tie in Ripley or the black goo.
@@RoaryUK I haven't actually watched the 4K release as I've heard all the negativity and it's put me off. I saw some of the weird artifacts and I was like "Hell no" 🤣
Another Alien, another spaceship, another fight. Another dud script. Another dead-end story. A VHS promo tape? Crasse.
