As a former student of both Bret and Heather’s, I’m so thankful that they CONTINUE to teach me about complex systems on a weekly basis! And also, as an Evergreen graduate, thank you for being truly great examples of brilliant minds that Evergreen did once have, amidst the quackery and rentseeking. I’m both proud of AND embarrassed of my degree at times, but the pride comes from having been taught by these two lovely human beings. And had the Evergreen controversy not happened, I’m sure I would still have my head buried in the sand.
@ I will definitely say it has been very eye opening to watch someone/s you know quite well be routinely mischaracterized and demonized by people who have NEVER met them. Bret is my favorite teacher I’ve ever had. And it helps to understand that it’s often the case that you spend 30hrs/week in one class for a whole year in Evergreen programs, and with Bret and Heather we would take quite a few field trips with camp fires and other activities that really give you an opportunity to get to know your professor much more in-depth than a traditional university. So yes, it’s surreal for sure. But if I hadn’t KNOWN them to be of such high integrity from my experience with them, it might have been hard not to be swayed by the mob of negative “hit pieces”. I have plenty of friends from my time at Evergreen who did NOT see Bret and Heather in a favorable light, including my own brother. However, in EVERY such case, the other person had NOT ever been a student of Bret or Heather’s. It was very telling. And obviously Evergreen is now infamous for catering to a particular type of young activist (noble in their intentions, but not necessarily willing to think carefully before pouncing) who is just eager to scream “injustice” in a situation like that which happened to Bret.
Appreciate your first-hand insight about Bret. I am a retired elementary teacher whose eyes were opened by the "shunning and demonizing" of people like Bret, Jordan Peterson, Jodi Shaw, and so many more. Bret, Heather, and their guests are intellectually honest people who helped me navigate the last four years and make more informed decisions about a vast range of topics. Thank you again for your comment, and good luck to you in the future.

Regarding the "Gulf of America", I respectfully disagree with Bret on the suggestion that it missed the mark. I think this name reimagined with the word America in it, from a stereotypically left-leaning point of view would be "The Gulf of the Americas" and from a right-wing point of view it would be "The Gulf of the United States of America". To me "The Gulf of America" is a middle ground that does acknowledge its importance to all of the Americas, but without making it too wordy or pedantic. We take for granted that people call the US simply "America" as a means of shortening a mouthful of words that is "The United States of America". "America" is not and never has been the official name of a country. America is a group of two Continents with regions of North, South, and Central, and all of these can rightfully be understood collectively as "America", so I think Gulf of America is as inclusive as the phrase needs to be. Mexico is one country. America is two entire continents.
Sanity… that word is completely misused if you’re referring to Trump and his band of billionaire cabinet members, plus a few very under qualified individuals who have more experience as tv hosts than running any successful organization.

Yet the US got a drunk secretary of defense, a russian meat puppet as head of the NIA, a guy getting kickbacks from suing companies that made the vaccines as head of the HHS. Yes, so much merit.
Actual Native American here. It is my hope to meet you guys someday. Honestly, everytime I tune into this show, I learn something. You do your best to outline everything in through known research and honesty. When I hear you analyze things, even when I don't think I agree, I think/feel like I am getting a fair shake at the subject at hand... not ideological twisting and narrative making. While I do agree with you that Native Americans and African Americans had a bad shake in the history making of this nation, I would like to point out that African Americans as people, never fought for freedom. Others fought on their behalf in a massive Civil War that threatened the very existence of this nation and took a great many of lives, and then the African Americans joined in to help. We Native Americans, in large, did fight for our various sovereign independencies. My tribe which is Sioux / Lakota, fought a decent amount of battles to retain our freedom. NO ONE HAS FOUGHT FOR US. It would be becoming of President Trump if honoring the treaties were forefront of the MAGA doctrine on relations with the tribes of America. The Treaties are written for us to surrender to you, in those treaties land, services, doctrine, funding, etc. were laid out. African Americans got an ammendment to the Constitution to set them free. We have treaties, and all we ask it that they are honored, much as any African American would want the 13th Ammendment to continue to be honored. Fight for the treaties!
Well on the other hand you got 4wheel drives (and horses) tap water, telephone, electricity, glasses tons of things to make up for no longer raiding other tribes and eternal warfare and seeking for food so I think the deal is in your advantage. Same for black americans living under cannibalism where they came from. Plus you have land enough to raise massive herds of buffalo and go hunt on horseback but for some reason indians prefer TV and basketball
From what we are finding out about health, real robust health like our ancestors (Im a white girl with plenty of Native American and West African and Reindeer People of Finland genes) had when Europeans got here and wrote about the subject in astonishment, I think the coolest thing would be to bring back the herds as both a perfect food for the perfect health of the people, and to restore and honor the land. Ruminant herds like the buffalo are the closest thing to a real miracle nature has ever created for human and environmental health. I dont know the treaties contents, but if they could be proposed to serve a huge purpose for American national success, given Trumps love of winning, there is a real chance imo. Less corn, more bison!!

What impressed me most about the day one and two executive orders were the quality and concision of the prose and the editorial selection of the subjects. They point to the high level of the staff that generated those orders. Bret sure did overreact to Whitney Webb. Was it really that hard to stay on topic? To refute basic historical facts instead of going all-in on character assassination with your first response? We can do better. She’s right. She has a point: It’s important to stay vigilant with Trump, as funding Gates isn’t that different from funding the WHO.
Brett's reaction was out of character. I interpreted Whitney's writing as a reminder to consider what was, compare it to what is, and question it. Isn't this what a critical thinker does? I thought Brett's comment was haughty.
I missed it. Could you all give me a time stamp? I thought his speech about naming Trump Goat is premature, and doesn't mark of critical thinking at all! Aesthetically, "Denali" is by far a superior name and also the most appropriate one. McKinley was a noteworthy president in surprisingly many of the ways in which Trump also aspires to be noteworthy (for better or for worse), but I doubt if there are many Americans who know anything about him. HIs VP was Teddy Roosevelt, who became president when McKinley was assassinated by an anarchist in the first year of his second term in 1901. Trump delights in tempting fate ;-).
In your head or materially for most of us? I’m very curious because materially nothing has changed, and we have yet to see what any of this will actually DO, not feel like it’s doing.
@johnk2347 The Biden-Harris Administration created and hired a huge number of DEI Federal Government employees. This helped substantially pad up the Biden-Harris Administration's jobs reports. It also created one of Democrats favorite things; a bigger Federal Government! A larger Federal Government increases the cost of running the government, and keeps inflation high. President Trump has removed DEI hires from the Federal Government, and he has also demanded employees return to work instead of letting costly run Federal buildings remain empty. His Administration has ended the practice of Federal employees working almost exclusively from home since the Pandemic. Many of them are choosing not to return, which will lower the cost of government and, thus, inflation also. President Trump also has his team investigating the feasibility and need for careless USA tax payer paid for government spending, such as the USA sending $50,000,000 to Gaza for condoms. Again, less goverment spending lowers the cost of government and our inflation. President Trump is actively engaged in arrangements to set up his goals to "Drill Baby Drill"! More worldwide sales and cheaper energy costs will lower the cost of everything! The absolutely terrible Biden-Harris misadministration drove up inflation and prices to disater levels in their 4 big spending years in office. Democrats complaining that prices havent been lowerd in only a week of President Trump being in office is solid evidence of the kind of fantasy, out of touch with reality thinking that got Democrats voted completely out of power! President Trump has had an impressive week in begining to clean up the high prices and mess the Biden-Harris Administration left.

Re: Gulf of America. Oh, dear, you took the bait. This is an inconsequential EO among all the hundreds, designed to get people wasting time talking about it.
To Heather's point on the death penalty, I'm not sure I understand the comparison that it's better for a guilty person to live a life in prison than for an innocent person to be killed by the state, because one can also argue that it's better for a guilty person to be killed by the state than for an innocent person to live their entire life in prison. Either way, the innocent person is screwed. If it was me wrongly accused I'd rather be executed than live my life in prison, separated from my loved ones with no possibility of parole, for a crime I didn't commit. Where's the QoL in that situation? How would my loved ones get closure and move on knowing I'm in prison suffering all my life for no wrongdoing of my own? At least if I died they could move on at some point knowing I'm no longer suffering. American prison is hell on earth, not a staycay. I'm honestly not sure which penalty is stricter and more harsh, life in prison or capital punishment, but to me life in prison is vastly sustained suffering while execution is brief suffering and by comparison mercy. I think you will find many people disagree on the matter. Some people can handle prison life. Others cannot. We don't hear about them. My solution would be to give the guilty party the option to choose between execution and life in prison for offenses in which the penalty is that severe. I guarantee you many would choose death. History tells us so. Then the wrongfully convicted still have some control over their own path too, whether they want to stay alive in prison with possibly some hope of acquittal, or whether they find that life insufferable and are at peace with greeting death. Imagine living a life in prison with some glimmer of hope you'll one day be found innocent, for decades, for your entire life, and the day never comes, and you die in prison anyways. Was that not another, more torturous form of death penalty?
I agree in general, but allowing people to choose to die (assisted suicide) also has some negative consequences. For me, the fundamental premise is: our justice system isn't supposed to make mistakes in the direction of punishing the innocent, and the price for that is allowing some of the guilty to avoid punishment. That is the design, and that premise is the basis for all forms of punishment. Is it actually true? No. But we must presume it's true to impose any sort of punishment. The death penalty is no different in this regard, because if you say that we can't impose it because the "found guilty" might actually be innocent, they same argument applies to every other punishment. For me, the only reason to use capital punishment is to grant some feeling of revenge to the victims (or their families). They like to use the word "justice", but what they mean is really "revenge". And I can understand how that can help people move on after certain tragedies. It's no different than stories where a father kills the abuser of his daughter - most people understand why he did it, and many would support him. The State replaces the father for many.
So long as you're alive, you can challenge the system which screwed up. No decision by the government should be so permeant that the next, or even current, generation can't stop and change course.
I have a little different view. Because I can compare it to living in a nurcing home. Where your children put you. I felt I had no choice at the time and thought it was my only option. Now ,, three years later. I hate my life and realize I could have chosen a different option if I had not been under derress. But too late. I think although I still have little hope. Of course money is an issue. But I could have lived in an apt and paid for home care occasionally. I hate living in my bedroom. Cannot eat what and when I want. Too much control. Sick people all around me. My like as I knew it is gone and I did nothing wrong nor committed a crime. So different kinds of prisons. This may not relate to the subject exactly, but just felt like venting. Feels like prison to me🥲😢🙏

Actually it in no way shape or form should be in the hands of the govt. It was fine before Nixon signed the HMO act which allowed for "managed care" to grow and take over the industry.
So, H&B, if one could guarantee that a given person slated to being put to death by the state was absolutely guilty, no doubt about it, you would be alright with their execution? For me, the possibility of innocence is not the reason for opposing the death penalty (at least, it is not the primary reason). The reason is that it is wrong, period. Vengeance is defeatist and childish, and execution is a tantrum being thrown by the state. It may be naive and childish of me to also say that putting someone to death implies that the person could never ever possibly do any single bit of good ever. To me, that is a terrifying abyss to look into: However unlikely, something that person says or does in the ensuing years of their incarceration could conceivably save a life, or improve a life, or maybe even prevent someone else from committing a crime. This is what I mean by "defeatist". I'm not sure I articulated this the way I might like, but I felt compelled to chime in, especially since I so rarely disagree with the two of you. And BTW, #DarkHorseWorldsMostImportantPodcast

Relatively large segments of (mostly) downtown Washington, DC get blocked off regularly! They do that for all kinds of reasons & events. There aren't always quite as many LEOs, but it can be such an inconvenience and frustration. It is particularly bad when there's a parade, a march or a marathon; it's not uncommon for an entire area to have no way OUT! Or for there to be no way to reach certain parts of the city without perhaps going to Maryland to get to Virginia, and back into DC (easily a 20-30 mile journey) to get somewhere that's less than a mile away! And then there are the motorcades for the POTUS or foreign dignitaries/heads of state. First a surprising number of police on motorcycles force all traffic to stop & move to the side of the street with an officer stopped about every 50 feet (at most). They "secure" the route quite a long distance ahead of the motorcade, so even though those vehicles come flying through at about twice the speed limit, there's usually a 10-15 minutes wait for them to come through (sometimes longer). And they keep the traffic stopped for another 5 minutes after the procession has passed.

That must be so surreal
You are so lucky to have had great professors who teach you to think for yourself .

Hallo Heather and Brett, I began watching your videos somewhere in 2020, during COVID and I found your differentiated and non-moralizing viewpoints so refreshing and educating.
Or... it could be to sidestep Biden actions that locked up areas of "the Gulf of Mexico" but not the Gulf of America.
I'm not American (see I did it) but what you say makes perfect sense.

Love you guys. Been following and sympathizing for you since evergreen state. You have thick skin and never gave up. Proud of. You.
It is well past time that the United States withdraw its membership from the U.N. and kick them out of United States, they could move to Geneva, Switzerland with their subsidiary, the W.H.O. The United States has contributed US$ 1.284 billion to the World Health Organization (WHO) during the 2022-2023 biennium. The U.S. government also paid more than $18 billion to the United Nations in 2022. The U.S. pays $116M each year to the WHO, or about 24% of the entire organization’s budget. I still don’t care. Just pick a name and stick to it so we can both understand what the hell we’re talking about.

I hope the animal recently sentenced to 51 years in the UK serves every day of his sentence.
Feels like prison to me🥲😢🙏
@@margaretvey8330 That is awful. Did they take all your money upon entry to the nursing home? They do that in my country which leaves people with few options. I will pray for you, maybe your children will wake up to themselves.
Bret needs to apologize to Whitney Webb. She was 100% right on her perspective of the withdrawal from the WHO
he showed his real self
After your recent unhinged rant against Whitney Webb I am leaving your channel after 5 years of support. YOU ARE BEHAVING LIKE THE LEFTIST CULT WE HAVE BATTLED FOR A DECADE!
Regarding 'The Great One', which I finally got to see last year with my own 2 eyes, I would prefer to keep the name Denali for the mountain and rename the park to MnKinley Natl Park. It would be a great compromise.
Control of healthcare should not be held or influenced by the private sector. Insurance itself is fatally conflicted.
Dude. The problem is evil people. Doesn't matter if healthcare is private or not.
There are going to be more luigis if we don't have a public medicare. Obama was right about this
Actually it in no way shape or form should be in the hands of the govt. It was fine before Nixon signed the HMO act which allowed for "managed care" to grow and take over the industry.
Oh, so now the leave it up to the free market crowd is advocating for SOCIALIST POLICIES?
Is anyone else astonished at Heather's incorrect reading of the DOGE thing? The termination of the temporary part "shall not be interpreted to imply the termination" etc., of the DOGE itself. Admittedly that is a bit obscure, but it leaves the thing open-ended, obviously at Trumps discretion. Note also that Musk is directed not to report to Trump, but to Chief of Staff Susan Wiles-- who has flatly denied Musk an office in the White House. The palace intrigue commences.
It's sad to watch them perform the gymnastics
I would have loved to attend the MAHA activities. Glad that you were there!
Had to give ya a thumbs up during the grilling/“Oh, geez.” discussion. 😂
Bret tip toeing into the realm of Norm Macdonald with that sponsor read😂
LED lighting is just as bad as the compact fluorescents. They don’t render color correctly and the electronics inside are unnecessary and lead to premature failure. Time will tell.
Thanks for sharing the EO overview. Enjoyed the chance to delve into some of these for a clearer view. Amazing how the new team is working. Bret you mentioned Panama and I saw your trip episode. If you want to know more about what the Chinese are doing there you should watch the latest epi of What is Going On With Shipping. The Panama episode. Sal is our true expert in this. Thanks for another great video!
I enjoyed the conversation and discussion, as always.
Sorry, I feel lost here. Are you not concerned about Trump’s apparent re-launch of MRNA under Stargate?
Also, thanks for saving me some time. Until someone addresses this I'm considering the whole MAHA crowd koolaid-drinkers.
Exactly. Brett is a limited hangout. I say this as a follower of his work for years. Same as Taibbi, Greenwald, et all. They're all paid under table.
@@sisterseeth When has he ever said mRNA tech was good? He's only spoken out against it.
@@sisterseethB&H have been largely responsible for several elite driven initiatives failing at this point.
Brett is one of the few who had gone in depth point out that the entire mRNA delivery platform is inherently dangerous. Not just the jabs and their specific composition and use of the tech.
WTF are you talking about?
I think it depends on how mRNA is used. The issue with mRNA wasn’t the tech but that it was not refined and then FORCED on the public. The latter being the greatest issue.
You’ve noted “A” reason why SOME people are against the death penalty. I’ve spent time with lawyers who specialize in the death penalty and they have different reasons for their opposition. I am not morally opposed but am grateful there are so many dedicated lawyers forcing the government to prove their case.
tried to explain to someone recently, 'sure all politicians ARE cannibals, but a rich one isn't hungry.'
1:00:04 " Naivite that borders on the pathological...". I think this is similar to Gad Saad's idea of suicidal empathy.
I so appreciate your rational approach to this analysis.
Word is the gulf of America is about getting around the laws preventing drilling in the gulf of Mexico
1. It is ours.

Listen to his speech at the WEF. This is whats going on behind the ex. order show
Did Trump go to the WEF?
@@grannyannie2948 Via telecast. Excellent speech plus questions & answers
@@grannyannie2948 Trump did a video call into the WEF today, and proceeded to talk bad about their green agenda (among other things) to their faces. I saw it on Right Side Broadcasting Network as a livestream sandwiched between commentary. I think it lasted about a half hour, first him giving an address then with some questions posed to him by CEOs there in an on-stage panel.

Thank you for reminding me why I love you guys!
The Gulf of America naming, is, IMO, a muscle flex by Trump against Mexico. Yes, they are a huge trading partner, but it has also allowed MILLIONS of people to trek through their country, at the enrichment of the cartels and NGOs. Mexico is at a distinct disadvantage and Trump wants to let them know that there's a new sheriff in town. Could be wrong and there might be another angle this that we don't yet know.
Heather: What does the G stand for, then?
Bret: Gangsta
(Pause. Both giggle)
Bret: I mean, it does. Ask the kids. 😆
Can we get some dung beetle merch? Caps, decals, water bottles, key chains, etc.
more plastic things to kill more fish.
lol! I think dung beetles are pretty cool and fascinating, but they last thing I want as "art" is a giant model of poop!
Appreciate your input.
Snow boots and parkas at coat check are pretty normal in Prince George BC in the winter.
You could say hell froze over on Trump's inauguration day hehe
When I lived in Alaska, I was taught that Denali is what the Natives called God. Because that mountain was the largest in Alaska, it was associated with God.
This was a great breakdown. Thank you. Stay warm you two.
Trump deserves spectacular wealth. He’s earned it. Just by what he has had to endure,. I do not begrudge him one thin dime.

Yes! First time I heard about renaming the gulf, my first thought was that it should be renamed Gulf of the Americas. Glad someone else had this same thought.

Should join MAGA and MAHA into MAGAHA. Make America Great And Healthy Again.
Or MAHAGA. And accidentally start saying mahogany.
By now I love you both so much! You two (and only a few others)are the ones I trust most to give me information and the lessons to learn how to weight them in the right way. So when Trump ore others in his administration is going the wrong way, I am sure you wil inform us. This gives me a sence of belonging in this world that I lost during covid! For cold weather black tie options, please consider: black overcoats, white silk scarves, white or black lamb nappa gloves, and also for the men, balmoral boots instead of the regular oxfords.I couldn't tell about women's shoe options, seems pretty problematic... I'll think about that for a while.
