The options 2x2FFD, 3x3 FFD, NxN FFD doesn't appear in my Sketchup 2018. Why does it happen?
try object exloded and regroup. then maybe u can find other options.

Not sure really - are you sure your group contains both edges and faces?

I'm using SKPMK17 and whenever I attempt to subdivide (even a simple 2x2x2 cube) using FFD the software immediately crashes. Any thoughts on why this is happeneing?

Sorry - I have no idea why this is happening. Start with a simpler model and see if it works then

@@zyzo99 Silly opinion - Google has killed just about every other acquisition they decided to make that they ended up not needing. SketchUp is about the only acquisition to escape that fate. Google DOESN'T WANT SketchUp

@@zyzo99 Well based on the fact that you're still using version 8, I highly doubt it matters if they do any more development on SketchUp or not. Good luck with that version

it is most likely because you have the option in which when you enter a group your entire view focuses on that group itself, "hiding" the rest of the objects outside that group.

FFD is REALLY Interesting but I don't know if it will work for me . I have a survey of my site with a number of points indicating the elevation . I want to create a 3D model of the site so that I can calculate the volume of dirt I will generate/need as I level the site to place the buildings and parking lot . From the video I don't think FFD will work so can you give me any suggestions about plugins that will produce a 3D site plan? Also, while we are at it my survey includes thee locations, size and types of trees on the site ... where can I find good 3D models of trees so I can add the trees into my model?

I'm looking for a tool that allows precise adjustment of an organic surface. Modeling aircraft canopies. See any image for a P-47D, P-40, etc. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I'll give it a look. I usually have the top and side view on model aircraft plans. If I outlined the top view profile with a line, and the side view profile with a line, I could use those lines as rails for some sort of sweep. but I haven't had much luck with that.

Hello. I am currently making an arena design. So may concept is like an armadillo carapace. Problem is I don't know what extension to use to pattern the skin of my building. Help please?
I haven't seen your building, but you may want to think about modeling the face, then bending the pattern along the face with Flowify - ruclips.net/video/Er0pwxQbMzs/видео.html - Hope this helped a bit
Hello, I have a problem which i cannot affect the shape although i have move the points. it used to be success in a few time ago, but after i turn off my sketchup and opening again, this problem happen, any idea how to reactive the ffd points so it can affect the geometry again?
In other cases the ffd point also cannot affect the geometry after I relocate my whole building, the points becomes cannot affect the geometry no more.
Sorry for my broken english, i'm very glad if anyone help me with my problem since i cannot find the tutorial to reactive FFD Points to work again.
Did you try deleting the group with the control points and running it again?

I installed the plug in scetchup 2017 and 2018, but I cannot select the points after double clicking on a grouped shape.
The points appear as light grey points. Any idea what could be wrong ?

Maybe try to find the points group in the outliner - sometimes I have trouble selecting them by double clicking in the model itself because they're so small
@@Thesketchupessentials I can't find the window you have on the right side of your screen since I have a MacBook hence me finding it hard to pick your ffd points which are on the group, your earlier version had points which were offset from the actual group itself which was much easier to select and navigate

I have such a problem with FFD that when my group is rotated, so its local axes don't match global model axes, FFD group will not be matched to group's local axes but to model's global axes istead. This doesn't allow me to use it precisely. Do you know if there's any way to force it matching group's local axes?
Reset your global model axes to match your local axes? Draw a box first so you can easily change it back?
If I first draw a group, impose an FFD cage and then rotate or move them together, FFD goes crazy and starts making terrible mess with the mesh. Even if I change global axes, FFD with stick to their original, "native" setting, that's strange. The same problem I have with Fredo Scale. Sometimes deformation box won't be automatically matched properly to group extents and clicking an edge to match it manually doesn't help. I don't know if Fredo Scale has any feature like "match deformation box to group's bounding box", so that orientation of deformation box would be like in native scale tool.

It should - I used it with SketchUp 2017 all last year, so it should work fine...
It works in 2017. That's the version I use and I just added the plugin and tested...
Make sure You are working with group. It seems, that FFD doesn't work with components.

@@Thesketchupessentials FFD only shows lock, unlock and make. This is on mac. Maybe a conflict with a plugin/extension?
