- A little walk-around and sound clip of my big 292 grind cams. Im unsure if these cams are still available through Schneider Racing, but they are probably to big for any application unless you like them for the sound. Enjoy!

This sounds amazing, VG30ET is underrated, nobody knows they sound good because there's so little aftermarket support barely anyone builds them.

My cam core was just sent to Schneider can't wait to get it back. I have a 240z l28et...mod list... um the shell is stock. it's easier to say that and even that isn't completely stock lol. I decided to go .460 lift 280 intake duration and 270 exhaust on a 114 (power band 2800-7000k) Apparently that really widens the power band and spools the turbo. I can't wait till I get it back. I thought about going bigger and maybe I will in the future but I do a lot of driving on the street with a bunch of track days. I hope mine sound close to yours.
Schneider does still have this grind available, but it's recommended for n/a engines.
Richard Holdener has basically proven that a good n/a cam is also a good turbo cam. Basically if it increases intake and exhaust flow over stock cam it doesn't matter if there's boost or not the cam will help make power over stock cam.

Where did you buy your cams from? I was told to look at some 280s.

Just so y'all know these cams are stock re ground cams they still do it and its only $280 ish. A good garret turbo used is quadruple that. As far as i known re grind is the only way to get a better cam in a vg30e/33e turbo or na. These days vgs are rather obscure compared to a rb or ca or vq hell even a ka but still one hell of a motor. Not uncommon to see 6-700 hp on mild build. Pretty formidable compared to your average boosted honda or vw or Subaru id say. With those toyos i bet with practice you could hook pretty good and eat subies for lunch all day.
Wayne Frisby Sure thing boss... too bad this car is older than your mom and all it would take is a few clutch dumps and hard pulls and you would have to call a wrecker to take it to pick a part and get your 150 for scrap lol
@@clcampbell85 You clearly have never owned one of these, my friend has one with over 200k miles with a ton of different mods increased boost, and he floors it all day long with no problems whatsoever, this is an a overbuilt motor that the japanese made. When people actually do regular oil changes and maintenance these engines last forever.

Wayne Frisby bro you are not getting these over 400 even with a good build and some major head work and sleeving. Let alone a bigger turbo, better intake and ported heads or maybe even vg33 heads. Cool engines don’t get me wrong, I love my z31 but in order to build one even to high 400 low 500. You’ll spend twice or three times the amount of just building an all motor LS with cam, headers, tune and a better flowing intake. Can’t beat modern engines man, the 30yo engine in these is just a giant paperweight at this point.

You can get cutoff valves anywhere. Amazon, ebay, direct from suppliers. Just type in cutoff valve in Google search.

Is this the only cam for the VG31 …. I have my old 86’ 9:1 pistons ported & polished heavily matched the gaskets as well … chromeMolly rings … and headers naturally aspirated….

If you take the time to advance them as much as possible before getting the p2v clearance too close you should see major improvements in power
Yeah i have adjustable cam gears and im looking to put them to use, but I dont have much experience when it come to playing with the timing of them. 1 or 2 degrees advanced you think should do them good?
@@TurbochargedCreations if you try 2 degrees advance and see a noticeable change you are definitely in the right direction. Do you know what the timing numbers are? Like IVO and IVC?
@@irongutsspeedshop3334 Based on the sheet I have it says, it has a little diagram if this makes any sense. Intake opens 31* BTDC, Intake closes 81* ABDC, Exhaust opens 81* BBDC, Exhaust closes 31* ATDC.
@@TurbochargedCreations wow that really is aggressive. Advancing could help but the piston to valve clearance is critical. Pretty much, I'd expect to have to raise the rev limit to 9k or so to get all of the benefit.
