I love your car so much, to see somebody to take the time and build a 30+ year old motor rather than just put some lame LS in there is so unique, I’ve had my Z31 for 2 weeks, and I love these cars
Good god what a gorgeous build man, seriously. I'm following a lot of what you did on my path with my Z. Just ordered the clutch damper delete kit and short throw shifter hopefully I'll have em in tomorrow. Maybe one day mine will look that good. Hot damn.
Awesome work man!!!! One thing with the launch control, i was actually able to use a brake light switch on the clutch pedal. There brake light switch closes when you press in the pedal, as apposed to the to the clutch switch. The harness was different so i just used a couple of spade connectors and put heat shrink around then.
You know I have a completely different car, but I had no idea fucking with the throttle body and ECU to make the car run correctly and have a little more power was tuning. I thought it was just fixing. I guess I'm a half baked tuner now! 😂
Since you have an exhaust cutout valve, could you show us a video of your exhaust system for reference and to compare to other systems like the one ETCG has on his Turbo Fairmont?
That turbos definitely out of steam. It's really nice to see megasquirt cars completed. What kind of ignition timing was that and out of curiosity... it may be covered in other videos. did you guys verify ignition timing through trigger wizard? Your build is very similar to my l28 build. I'm on megasquirt 1 converted to megasquirt 2 with a 2.2 daughter card been running for 12-13 years now. I started very similar to you with a T3/T4 (made 323 @354tq @ 18 degrees of ignition timing 1 bar boost) and now I'm rocking a holset with a Billet compressor wheel makes 400ish 22 degrees ignition timing at 20 lb of boost with water meth. I haven't dynoed it with the new turbo and water meth. Anyway awesome z31 you should turn it up more.
Man! I cant wait to megasquirt my z, did you do aything to the head like springs and retainers? and did you do anything to the bottom end or is it still stock rods and pistions?
@@TurbochargedCreations you didn't gap the rings? Or Was yours a turbo from the factory? I'm getting ready to do the same thing starting this spring but mines Non turbo, for now. Great build, looks awesome!
Great job project coming along. Tuning graph looks linear, by the way, could tell me what type T3/T4 turbo i.e. manufacturer model number or part number? This information will go along way for my project.
Nice build. Which spark plugs are you using and what do you have them gapped at? I'm going to run Nistune with 750cc injectors and 20lbs of boost on my 84 AE. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Great. I'll try those out when I change my mine. Why did you choose Megasquirt over Nistune? I purchased Nistune with an 88 non turbo ECU and a 93 Mustang Cobra MAF. I haven't installed it yet and wondering if I should. I've owned a z31 for over 25 years and I'm learning a lot from your channel. I admire your passion. Thanks again.
Thanks. Did you change the base fuel pressure? If so, what did you increase or decrease it to? I'm going to be running 750cc injectors. Also did you advance or retard the timing for 20psi boost? Thanks again for your experience.
Nice ride alot attention to detail, curious as to what ignition system you running since there's no distributor or wires in sight, and did vg33 swap on my d21 hard to hide anything out of sight due to location of what's trying to be hid, but very nice peace pretty sure it's taken some time to get to that stage, especially if its your daily driver.
Nice project pro but, isn’t better an ls swap ? By the way i have 300zx 1985 ls1 swap 327 hp 344 tq with air intake 4 in and magnaflow exhaust 2.5 in .
Your turbocharger is not maxing out, it's not properly holding boost pressure. Look at where you have your BOV located, it should be moved closer to the throttle body. Also recommend getting an external wastegate, also a Pathfinder intake manifold plenum.
BOV has nothing to do with making power or holding boost pressure. This plenum is also gutted, ported and the the throttle body is much bigger then stock. 350-400 is normal for a stock style hybrid turbo
Hi, i see that you have deleted some parts under the hood. Those things you deleted, where those restrictions? I just put 550 cc injectors and nistune in mij (euro spec)87 turbo but i can't get it to idle properly. And the car runs sometimes rich and the other time lean. Could you help me a bit? I haven't driven my Z really yet and have the car for 3 years now. Thx in advance
So whats the tune i wanna steal it running nistune . i got almost same set up just vg33er fresh build engine on fully built heads. 7200 rpm T3t4 hybrid.
Yes it can be tuned to get the same power as long as the setup is close to the same. Or you have another know setup that produces the same power. With that any tuner can tune the power out of it. Otherwise you end up missing some power or detonating because your car has small differences or big once depending on the setup.
If you can’t find anyone though yes with some detcans to listen for knock and a wideband you can get a good street tune. But you won’t get maximum power without a dyno tune.
Dude....you're Canadian! It's a "zed"31. Lol. Nice build. I've been on the look out for a 2 seater manual. Did you swap the manual trans in? I only ever see the turbos in automatic in this country. I'm in Toronto and dont see many Z31s on the road at all.
Very clean build sir. Go with a 58 or 62mm turbo for a lot more power potential. Also do you have E85 in your area? It's a total game changer if you can swing it.
If you had to ballpark the cost of everything you did under the hood to get these numbers how much do you think you spent. I'm looking to get around the same numbers out of my z someday and want an idea of how much I need to spend

Have to agree. One guy was running 320 HP on the stock ECU and the JWT kit got you 450 HP. Was it necessary to megasquirt it and convert to distributorless ignition?
Its all about expandability and features. The distributorless ignition doesnt add power, it just modernizes and cleans up the engine bay. I cant stress enough that the turbo absolutely could not keep up it was very limiting and is the main cause of the final numbers. As for the OP, the horsepower was closer to 350, not 300
