from multiple reviews I noticed that the RGB illumination on the Everest keyboard is kinda dim compared to corsair k95 for example. Will using white PBT keycaps help make them brighter ?
Yes, when you use the white keycaps any light that hits it will be reflected instead of absorbed. Just a FYI the board ships at 75% brightness, if I remember right, so they may have not adjusted the brightness. Keycaps are the most important when it comes to brightness, IMO. Next are the switches, because the housings may block the light. The cherry switches that come, are actually not fully RGB, (they are not transparent) you can get some that are transparent, like Zealios V2, that would allow basically all the light from the PCB to come up to the keys. LED diodes, generally are limited by power, so if you have it plugged into a USB hub, then the reduction in voltage can also dim your keyboard, but still allow it to work. Sometimes when you have cheaply made doubleshot PBT, there will be darker spots in the legends. Keycaps like Tai Hao PBT, generally have great visibility of the legends. But, when choosing a white set, IMO HyperX pudding keycaps are the best, like the ones in this video. Did that fully answer your question? Most of the time the issue isn't the LED's, most of the time it is the setup, followed by the amount of power. If the LED's are still dim, then it is an issue in software. I never noticed that the dimmness level was sub- par, but it isn't blinding!
@@ireakhavok oh it definitely helped, I was actually thinking of razer white keycaps, since i'm not a big fan of RGB leak, but would definitely give up to hyperx pudding PBT if the lighting difference is huge, also the contrast between white keycaps and black board is actually very nice to look at.
@@perceptivity_ I agree very much. I do have to say that right now, I have a set of SA semiconductor on it, you may want to look at SA profile in the future, as it is the polar opposite, feels great to me, but doesn't have shine through, etc. some people don't like the glossy coat because it makes your fingers have more friction with the keycaps, but I like it because when I touch type, my fingers don't slip as much and I am more reassured while I type fast. I did buy the HyperX Pudding Black keycaps. The letters are barely visible. Your keycaps are very bright in the video. Also on the black Razer keycaps the lightning on the letters is terable on this keyboard. Is this because of the color of the keycaps? I need BIG FET BRIGHT letters.
so, yes. The Black keycaps will absorb instead of reflect the light, like the white keycaps. I would definitely suggest getting the white pudding keycaps if you need some bright letters. you could also look up some switches like the Durock Blue Lotus that use a form of fibre optics to "pipe" the light to the keycap.
@@ireakhavok The Durock Blue Lotus do look and sound nice but i can not find any video how the lightning looks like. At the front is some defused window? How does the licht of the led at the back of the key will go to the front? Does this not lower the lightning at the back of the keycap? Could you link me to a video with Durock Blue Lotus lightning?
@@fvheel so for your keyboard, which is North facing, the window will be at the back, by the legends. The keyswitch is rotated 180 degrees. some other boards will use south facing sockets, which puts the light at the front. I'm assuming that you have the Mountain Everest, yes?

If you are just getting the TKL, and not even the media dial, I say go for the drop CTRL. If you would like to, check out my drop CTRL video, too! I really love my Everest max, and am using it right now, and although it is just as comparable, it only strait out beats the Drop CTRL, if you include all of the bits.
