  • Flying the STOL CH750 Super Duty home to the Zenith Aircraft kit factory in Mexico, Missouri, following the Missouri River, on the way back from the AOPA Fly-In in Carbondale, Illinois. The CH750SD is equipped with a 205-hp IO-375 engine (with three-blade Cato prop) and the repositionnable Avilution UnPanel inside the roomy cabin.
The STOL CH 750 Super Duty is the latest model in the Zenith high-wing lineup. The resemblance between the STOL CH 750 Super Duty (SD) and the original STOL CH 750 light-sport aircraft is obvious, but the Super Duty offers increased useful load, the addition of a jump seat in the big rear cabin area, and more powerful engine choices for maximum short take-off and landing (STOL) capability. The design features fixed wing leading-edge slats, full-length flaperons (for excellent control at slow flight), big tires for off-airport operations, and effective rudder and elevator to allow for slow flight operations. The roomy cabin provides easy access from both sides and amazing visibility from the wrap-around windows and bubble doors.

The airplane is optimized for excellent STOL performance (150 ft takeoff and landing rolls) while exhibiting excellent performance in all phases of flight powered either by the 205 hp IO-370 engine or the Viking Aircraft Engines' 180 hp turbocharged Honda engine. The airplane affords excellent fields of view in all quadrants. Its handling qualities are satisfactory with generally light and responsive control forces in pitch and roll. The rudder pedal force for coordinating turns seemed a little high during a recent demo ride at Zenith. It has an inherently stable stall at Vs or Vso accompanied by mild buffeting with essentially no break in pitch and no rolling tendency while the stick is held firmly against the back stop. In sum the airplane would appear to be inherently resistant to departures from controlled flight as a result of an inadvertent stall. The unique Avilution unpanel is brightly lit and easy to read in bright sunlight conditions while affording a roomy cockpit. Overall an excellent design.

You happen to know the max distance with a full tank and stripped load?

Curious how much drag the fixed leading edge slats cause? I assume automatically retracting slats would make the build overly complex in return for any added airspeed - which was not a goal to begin with?

In the video description, it says "205-hp IO-375 engine (with three-blade Cato prop)".
The engine is from a custom house named Aero Sport Power. For all the information, you can go to "www.zenithair.net/introduction-ch-750-super-duty".
