The hardest guitar technique is making money
😂😂😂
Very underrated comment
😂😂😂😅
Lmao
Fax
Hardest technique number 11, having the courage to continue to attempt playing guitar after realizing the gap in skill between me and this guy.
you got this brother have patience in the process
To see what is possible should be inspiring. Besides, look back and see what inspired you to start in the first place? Was it to be as good as Manuel?
Don't compare yourself to others. Compare only to yourself from the past(from yesterday). That's what helps me boost my motivation.
Let's all be excited and start filling in the gap little by little.😉
@@urcurlydawg932 100%
Yeah man but being this musical and melodic with those 10 techniques? You're awesome
.
.
This is a piece that I am listening to everyday now!

This is a piece that I am listening to everyday now!
Your percussive strumming is always mindblowing
Yo we meet again
hes more sound like harmonics god when mixing harmonics, tapping and percussion in one track.
(but everybody loves when he strum percussion bcs all of us, humans love blast beats for rocking)
Ah yes, our chika chika master.
That tapping bit was fcking insane. So seamless and amazing. You definitely have a gift(and hardwork+dedication).
Only hardwork, dedication and passion here. No gifts involved. These guys are just passionate enough to push boundaries
@@DzHodo yeah kinda sucks to see people call peoples work gifts or talents
@@DzHodo is passion not a gift
people saying its only passion and hard work, but to be the best you need to be gifted as well. without both, unless you can extend your lifespan by centuries you simply cannot keep up. truth is tough
@@Keemin I don't deny the existence of being gifted or talented. We had some insane people in history.
But if people call others gifted it seems that they redeuce the other peoples skill to gifts just so that they can convince themselves that talent is the major difference between them. And thats annoying
Brother you are simply one of the most impressive guitarists currently alive. Period.
He's very good but he clearly gets much of his style from Tim Henson who really created this type of playing along with Tosin.
@@joeferris5086 he did, but he created something beautiful out of them
@@neppnepp Absolutely. This medley is dope af.
@@joeferris5086 While a lot of his skill is from techniques popularized or developed by Tosin and Tim, he has also advanced some to a further level on his own such as percussive strumming and tapping harmonics
Nope, not at all, mediocre and derivative music. This is also a speed up video. Musicians are in another league, he is a content creator, going where the wave is going
“Top 10 Hardest Guitar Techniques” Executes them all FLAWLESSLY lol. Unreal man. Unlike anyone I’ve ever seen before!
Paul Stanley said something like: "The most creativity comes over your restrictions". Maybe this is not a good beginners advise, but most players, me included, stuck on an average level for decades not really improving technique and get a bit frustrated sometimes. For example, even i'm not good at downpicking speed, i found out i can galopping on a much higher bpm. So even if i'll never be capable of playing Master of Puppets the proper way, i'm still be able to write killer thrash tracks or developing own stlyes around my capabilities. Thats the whole thing new genres were invented. Mostly by young players with fire, b'cause they don't give a fuck of playing "right" or "wrong", they just play. I think with youtube and media musical theory, maths and technique have much too high impact on making music. So, youngsters, admire your idols, improve your technique, but don't let them demotivate you in making your own progress!
A lot of truth behind this, well said!
Wow, thank you, an amazing view on this
Inspiring words
Good advice, thank you!
You just blew my mind wide open. I think I needed to hear this. Thanks
You just broke down every polyphia song to its basics. This is so amazing. It gives me some great motivation to keep practicing.
we had the exact same thought
polyphia doesnt use half of these lol
@@burger2229 thumping, harmonics, hybrid pick, selective pick, downstroke, classical pick, tap...
They use nearly all of these. Regardless, you don't have to put somebody down to lift somebody else up. If Polyphia brought somebody here, that's a good thing.
@@Gr33nPhoenix polyphia don't use classical picking, tapped harmonics, percussive strumming, they don't typically do completely tapped lines like this, the only two that sound anything like polyphia is the thumping and hybrid picking maybe but still polyphia has a more rigid and snappy sound when using these techniques and this doesn't really sound anything like them
@@burger2229 to say that they don't use it as much as/how it's shown vs saying they don't use it are two different things.
I think just hybrid picking and percussive strumming put your playing a level above most and everything after that is ear candy.
the ergonomics you have within every technique... that's truly insane
Some techniques are harder than others but all of these require dedication and natural touch and he clearly has both. 👍
And it all sounds coherent and musical 🔥🔥🔥
I believe he intentionally learned/developed/mastered all these techniques within the context of his own musical taste or style, even if he learned some of them from someone, I bet he would modify it to sound like his very own. That's how they all sound coherent, and he always stand out among the rest and would never suddenly sound like someone.
0:01 That tapped harmonics riff... Pretty much how I feel right now.
I can do a few of those but never tried harmonic tapping. Time to pick up my guitar and realise i can't do it
You deserve more recognition for you're accomplishments man. I've been playing 20 years and I'm still not able to do a one take for a lot of the stuff you did like that, esp not that clean. You are incredible man.
The classical picking one is called “tremolo” for classical guitarists
Deck percussion holds a similar threshold.
Tbh a few of these techniques are quite common for classical guitar playing. Also Flamenco guitar you need to be proficient in these to even play the music.
How did this man manage to turn a top 10 into a full on song
When’s the tutorial coming for this one? Sick as always!
That low e sound is so good with that bass. Wow
Holy hell these techniques are mind blowing and the fact you put ‘em all together so fluidly blows my mind! Keep it up Manuel I think you’re one of the best guitarists out there! Hope to be able to pick up these techniques through hard dedication!
the first riff gives me Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens vibes
This is my favourite so far. I'm gonna spend 1 day a week to learn this
Every time I see something new from this guy that's mind-blowing. Wow! And to be melodic and emotional while doing so wtf
Brabíssimo! 🇧🇷
I really respect your guitar technique playing. that's very impressive.from Indonesia
0:01 obviously one of the hardest
This video is very inspiring. Guitar isn't a contest people that are better then you should hopefully inspire you to learn more and develop better techniques. This guy has some badass skill
I read percussive strumming and I thought “o, I can do that!” Then I saw him do it…
tim,ichika,manuel,marcin→next guitar generation
check out some Yvette Young if you like the guitarists you listed.
@@6ic6ic6ic
Of cource I love Yvette Young
and I think Joshua Meader is known as good as them.
We all going to ignore the fact he sped this up???
that guitar is sooooo gorgeous
Alternate picking fast and sweep too
I wonder how long this Guy has practiced and how many hours a day
Your clips get better and better its incredible! I already felt like ''Covernant'' was crazy and even after being blown away by ''Artificial Void'' and the (new) singles, it gets better :O
I still do not understand why selective picking is considered difficult it’s literally just selective hammer ons with a fancy name
I think you also use your fingers as well as a pick to play the strings
I guess it's due to the potential/skill ceiling(?), cause when you look at Tosin using selective picking it's mind-boggling
On a side note…Where did you get that jacket? Lol
Wrong focus.. but yeah, the bomber is dope..😆😆😆
if you mix all these techniques you obtain every fucking polyphia song 😂
what gauge of strings do you use? that tone is insane
11: Having a brain and actually playing something meaningful.
love how tapping harmonics comes before tapping and harmonics
Impressive ! when I thought that I had seen it all ...Manuel Gardner-Fernandez proves me wrong !
amazing technique, one of my new favourite guitarists
I can do downstrokes... glad somethings up there I'm able to LOL XD
I felt like as if i am watching Tim Henson (polyphia) .. playing style very similar and complex and nice..
All i heard was Polyphia haha
Hybrid picking is so awesome but insanely hard to get correctly and cleanly
Jajajaja listen Iberia of the heart of américa
Puno bolivia
was needed more whammy tricks and hybrid picking 🤔Byt it was awesome! I would say 91.6% Done 😆🥰
And yet he makes it look so effortlessly easy. Amazing ❤️
Egyptians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and this guy
This is my favorite one so far.. if you bottled this up and sold it, I'd buy them all
Love this so much! Can't wait to see Unprocessed in Montréal
I hope this video gives Manuel the recognition he deserves
the hardest technique of guitar playing is not over playing
proud to say i can do 5 of these thanks tim henson for forcing me to learn them
Technique number #4 is also called "Chkchkchkchkchk"
I found you on worlds biggest shred collab, became a fan of Unprocessed through RUclips Music app recommendations, and it finally hit me that you're the guitarist for Unprocessed after watching a live video.. geez you're amazing! Love everything you do ❤
P.S great first last name hyphen 👌
Better name: “techniques to sound like a polyphia clone”
I have one and only one picking technique that I am continually striving to perfect. Kudos to you for having perfected so many. A most excellent and superior display of musicianship.
Where would artificial harmonics (right hand) land on this list?
I use all of those except for wammy. But my guitar doesn't have a wammy so I'm gonna buy a charvel dk24. Wish me luck :)
Love my dk24 pro mod! I want another one hss style with a Floyd rose now lol
@@cbsaulren Just out of curiosity, what color/model is it?
@@janellekrivoruk2493 it's the dk24 pro mod black with caramelized maple neck and a HH setup. Also has a series/parallel switch for coil tapping. The neck feels incredible.. I especially like the rolled edges and sculpted heel joint. Makes playing up high super comfy
@@cbsaulren that one looks sick. Im looking at the white one with gold hardware and a caramelized maple neck
@@janellekrivoruk2493 dude yes, that one looks so good! Charvel really has impressed me lately
Someone know the model/color of that guitar? Its dope
What about sweep picking??
And real clásical guitar
I was gonna say he's missing 2 more - sweep picking and flamenco style rhythm
sweep picking itself isn’t hard, it’s syncing up your hands that kills ya.
@@ripit.3457 First, Ryuko is waifu. Second... isn't that the whole point of sweeping? 🤔
This guy is fuckin bonkers
Interesting list, I was expecting some more crazy shred picking type stuff but I like these choices cause most of them aren’t too hard to learn but very difficult to master
Das ist Gitarrenspielen auf ganz anderem Niveau! Das ist so verdammt gut!
I was comfortable with my guitar playing until started to watch Manuel and Tim Henson playing.
Bro is so under rated. Love your tunes bro keep it up
funny thing
the harder the technique - the shittier the sound
Stunning guitar.
Mesmerizing Melodies.
Outstanding demonstration.
Kudos my friend! Pure awesomeness.
Damn, so many good and unkwon techniques :o
Genuinely curious: is there a reason why guitarists who can fingerpick don’t use thumb picks vs going into hybrid picking?
Hybrid picking blows my mind, but every time I try it, I just want to drop the pick…
I get that they create different sounds, I guess I see a thumb pick as a middle ground…?
Tbh i can't use a thumb pick, idk why but it just doesnt feel right so i either hybrid or finger 😅🤷♂️
I can't use thumb pick, it's not comfortable but some guys do it well. Check out Feodor Dosumov, he combines fingers and pick with a thumb pick
Personally I just don't like the sound thumb pick produces. My past experience with thumb pick was that it is always too long. I'm a Jazz III kind of person.
I prefer hybrid picking because you can easily switch the angle of attack on your pick. This allows for better switches between hybrid picking and (percussive) strumming. The thumb pick feels a little bit "stiff" and locked to your thumb in my opinion. May just be me not being used to it though.
The thumb pick has the advantage of allowing you to use your regular fingerpicking technique with little adaptation, if you are using the regular technique with timr-fingers. With hybrid-picking you normally use your thumb and indexfinger to hold your pick and r and m -fingers for fingerpicking, making the "standard-technique" having one less finger to pick a seperate string. You can mitigate this "flaw" of hybrid-picking by utilising your pinky for picking, thiugh. It is quite a difficult task but can be very rewarding to learn since it combines best of both worlds in that case.
This guy is technically insanely talented but him and all the other wonder guitarists on youtube lack the hardest to obtain skill on the guitar : Making good memorable music with it not something that sounds like an exam
god you people are boring. why can’t you let other people enjoy what they want to?
So incredible dude. Does anyone know (or recommended) where, or how, to start learning these modern techniques? I've been playing for years but have no skill in these modern techniques, need to take a look at some exercises and riffs etc.. can anyone help?:)
watch Tim Henson (Polyphia band) lessons, you can buy tabs also
there is a lot of hybrid picking
@@kosson4386 Ah cool! thank you kosson! :)
So basically everything AAL uses in their songs, got it
i love how you flow between techniques. this video was super cool to watch.
Please Can you learn me harmonic style 😢
how did u get younger over the year its amazing
goodness gracious this man is so damn good at guitar
Wow, not sure how so got here from an Alice n Chains video but very impressive. If I could play like that I would just carry a guitar on my back every day.
You are a guitar god. Your style is ridiculously 🔥🔥
Super bad ass! NICELY done, man!
Love your style man!
do you use any tunings other than standard? your guitar sounds so different from mine 😲
To those that may be discouraged seeing videos like this; you can get big off of 4 chords. Please remember that. 🙏
You don’t have to be technical to be great. 🙂
"getting big" lol
But getting technical sure helps.
You have a much better chance at learning these techniques than getting big. This man is just displaying skill that is worthy of being admired.
So many people want to "make it big" without actually becoming really good at something. Sure, that's possible, but IMO - I'd rather go on the path of certain... hard work = the reward of being able to play like this.
The art of chkchk
idk they all look pretty easy in the video
I feel bad for deaf people
You are one of the top 10 guitarists in the world - at least!
I love your videos so much!!!
1:53 me who grew up learning classical
HOLY SMOKES I CAN DO SOMETHING HARD? I JUST GOT AN ODD CONFIDENCE BOOST
this is great dude but selective picking is the most ridiculous thing ever. You are an amazing guitarist btw
超やばい!すごい!
Secret 11th technique: finding the willpower to practice
Lmao when taping harmonics are the first one
Really nice music too!
Fuckin incredible man
11: getting a girlfriend
How do u get the whammy to do that crazy sound. Love it. And everything else ofc!
he wasn't joking
OMG man you sick !!!
Can you do a video on thumping in general? There are a few videos on it, but you seem to have the coolest method ive seen so far. I really don't understand how you do it.
at 0.75 speed is better
