Ares, in ancient Greece, was rarely worshiped. Of the Olympians, he had the least followers and temples built in his honour. (Most were of ancient cults). It was frowned upon to worship Ares, as Greeks valued philosophy, peace, and wisdom. Ares is often fueled by blood shed and violence if war, so him being supportive of these rare times of war is very much so in character for him. He's perceived as the "problem" child between Zeus and Hera; they love him, but he can be a handful at times -- or a lot 😅
In the myths they usually depict him as bloodthirsty and essentially all the bad parts of war. Kind of wish they made him more than just that. Granted Athena isn't exactly a paragon of virtue in the old myths either.
This is Ares's Irony. He always starts war, but doesn't know how to end it. He wanted Heron to yeild, but we know heron will rathen die than to yeild. That's why wars have no answers but worst consequences where winners remain, and dead people to cheer for them.
Interesting enough, Ares supports women and hasn't raped anyone for that matter. His relationships were all consensual. He still thrives in the needless bloodshed of young soldiers though.
In most stories/accounts/popular media (I,e God of war, Injustice Gods among Us) Ares is portrayed that way - I thought it was accurate seeing him act like that

And in turn, some deities, like Athena, are always portrayed like the paragon of Justice in most of the media, overlooking some of her most notables flaws. Like Medusa, who was a priestess in an Athena's temple, but she was sexually assaulted and raped by Poseidon into the temple. But Athena instead to makes something against Poseidon, she punished Medusa unfairly, only because the incident occured in one of her temples, leading her to turn Medusa in a Gorgon, despite to be the victim. @@DonghuaTianlong Zeus should have been the main antagonist and the father role should have been given to Hades for Seraphim. The second season made me question if the writers like Hades and Seraphim more than Heron and Zeus. I mean Hades and Seraphim stole the spotlights for both seasons compared to Zeus and Heron. Hades is not manipulating Seraphim as he tried to help him before the whole Elusian stone plotline. He even gave the Lethe waters to Seraphim in a heartbeat even though he lost the competition. Hades was the best Olympian who communicated his points, teachings, and advice. Season 2 even established Hades as a better leader than Zeus. Zeus may be a good military leader but he was a horrible ruler who ran away from his responsibilities. Also you gotta think since ares is the least worship he has a higher chance of being eventually forgotten and thrown into the abyss when he goes to the underworld so of course he would side with war
He is worshipped by warriors and war continues
He was actually very popular with abuse victims and women and children in general. They prayed to him for strength and protection. It was part of the reason why he wasn’t so liked by the Greeks.
Sparta had a temple to him and he was reincarnated as mars the most revered Roman god
@@_.hybrids._1680 Most surviving texts on Greek mythology were written by the Athenians, and they hated Ares because he was the patron god of their enemies, the Thracians. So naturally, they wrote Ares in a bad light.
Ares the Greek God of War and Courage
He was a coward and a bully in mythology, as are all bloodthirsty warmongers in history.
@@thehermit8723 It would be foolish to be a warmonger AND cowardly. After all, why would the cowardly want to fight and kill so much? Genghis Khan, Charlemagne, Tamerlane, etc. These were warmongers, but you could never call them cowards.

Knowing the next season will be in not less than a year is a torture
1:02 was that guy with wings on both of his ears Hypnos?? I literally rewatched season 2 a couple of times and didn’t even noticed that 😭
Yep
Wonder who would take rematch now that Heron can actually use his powers to fight against his Area superior strength
I’m not surprised this is Ares the god of war
Zeus might have many bastard children but Ares will always be a bastard.
Edit: To be clear, I mean that Ares is a metaphorical bastard and not a literal one.
bruh he is the only legit son between Zeus and Hera
Mortally he means@@giggsi1006
Bro was just trying to do right by his mom after she got cheated on
@@giggsi1006 Yes and no, some versions also has Hephaestus as a a legitimate son. and if we are talking about daughters, Zeus has a lot of legitimate daughters, Athena is the main one
Ares is doing what he is doing because his father was a massive ass. Every single thing that happened in the myth was Zeus fault.
Getting his ass beat or not, you gotta acknowledge that Heron has got a serious fucken pair on him. Not only did he shit-talk a God to his face, but he also willingly engaged in fisticuffs with that same God who is the literal personification of War itself. Not bad for someone named after a beanpole fishing bird.
What a nice way to bond with your big brother on a sad day Heron. *Letting him totally beat the sh*t out of you.* Now that is some great brotherly bonding time.
*And yes, I'm being totally sarcastic. Ares would've killed him if they'd kept going.*
When Ares made that face after Heron punched him in the face, I was just like *"Oh Sh*t. Heron, you did it now. No more holding back."*
Having Ares as a brother would be pretty cool and scary as hell at the same time.
@@tyrant9689 That's true. One minute he's teaching you how to wield a sword, use hand-to-hand combat, pick up girls, and the next, you're lying in a pool of your own blood after he knocks the hell out of you for smooching the girl he likes.
Ares sure likes the word bastard.
He sounds like a purist.
I wonder if he ever said that to any of his children, who are bastards themselves.
@@tyrant9689 I won't be surprised. As the purists are prone to look down "inferior" races, or "mudbloods".
I call him Greek Frieza
Everyone: talking about Ares, Heron or Hera
Me: looking for Hyacinth in every frame of the show and getting so happy when I find him 😊
Why does Ares look like Jason Statham 😂
the haircut lol
He challenges the god of war to a fist fight. That’s like a random guy challenging Joh jones and expecting to win.
That's was a great plan, fight ares 1on 1 😂😂😂
It's funny, the only good gods in the mythology are the ones depicted as evil in the media l, lol
Hephaistos and Hades are not so bad, no ? 🤔
I do think he is bad just a douch.
@@4evaheroesfIn the myth greeks ares is bad
They kinda turned hades around bur just introducing him it seemed they wanted him fully evil
Or also Arachne, who was punished by Athena for defeated the goddess in a sewing contest, showing that Athena has a spiteful side and can be a sore loser.
Making ironic that the media likes to put Athena in a pedestal, despite to her flaws, while that Hades is treated like a wicked god, only for the the Underworld god, overlooking that he is actually one of the most nice gods from the Greek Pantheon.
It's like Kratos vs Fenyx--the muscle bound berserker vs the agile perfect dodge expert
Fenyx from Immortals Rising?

Evios’ reaction gets me everytime😭
Why is Richter Belmont fighting against the Grand Regent Thragg 😅
Both of them are pulling their punches. Ares is bigger and stronger, he can beat up Heron easily. Heron draws blood from Ares when he uses his lightning power, but proud enough to not use it entirely and just use his fists against him.
Ares with all his shit should consider himself lucky Herron doesn't know how to use he's power if Herron was a full god he would've died. 😂
I honestly believe heron has barely touched his power I don’t think Zeus has either and that would be utterly terrifying I hope next season we see heron just absolutely demolish and tap into his true power and potential.
@@McherriAGREED. He 💯will⚡️⚡️😮💨

@@Mcherri For one he hasn't even touched the basics of controlling weather, just healing and boxing bolts.
@@Mcherri I think he will have no choice but to learn as much as possible about his power or it will be forced out of him (depending on where the developers go with this show), because remember, Gaia released Typhon at the end of the show. Either way, this season was dope.

Actually Percy was 12 when he dueled with Ares.
the animation style is dope
Heron possesses the lightning powers of Zeus. He's not exactly a mere mortal. How is he not a full god by now?
cause he's part human
Size difference lmao
He's a demi God. Half God half mortal. Power sets varies though.
This show is really good.
Heron: I can do this all day!
Me da mucha pena ver a Hera sin su brazo derecho y a Zeus muerto 😢😢😢😢
OK, Aries was on a fist fight with heron but Hera interrupts the fight despite she wanted heron to be dead in her own son had him as much as I want heron keep using his lightning powers to beat the crap out of Aries but still Hera Interrupts the fight and she’s having it since when she since she’s showing respect for to the other children of Zeus that are not hers like she interrupts arguments and fights between Aries and the other children’s of Zeus, I thought she hated them but now she’s just showing respect for them
Hera is such a boss 😍
This series is beautiful
I'm surprised Hera stopped the fight. From what I remember, she hated Heron.
I'm sure Hera still hates Heron, She just not in hate with him anymore as she found that the war she started in the last season, didn't deliver the closure she desperately sought. Besides killing is forbidden during the Olympic Games.
2:22 EWGF on point.
The indomitable human spirit is something the gods will never understand
Kratos be like: I’ll sit all y’all greek youngins down
It's funny how these Greek gods from Greece are more diverse than modern day LA 😂😂
To me it seems like Ares was pulling his punches
Of course he was. The point was to win a fight, not kill each other.
Ares: Say the word "I submit".
Me: Yes Daddy!!!
You no if heron still mantaned the lightning he probably would have pu up a better fight.
Heron may have lost the fight but he did make Ares bleed.
Say the word!
Heron: Shazam

I wish Kratos appeared in the series

The kratos you are thinking of doesn't exist in greek myth
He was featured! Just in a retelling. They show him eating the decoy infant Zeus
kratos in myth was zeus's ally
Cratos
Surprisingly that Aries well Athena is being played as favorite daughter and heron is played for as favorite son of Zeus Aries, becoming the least favorite child of Zeus Zeus likes his children to be more heroic and wise
Damn he got his @$& WHOOPED‼️😭😭😂😭
I align the real Ares to that of Darth Marr. Both are evil but are respected for their pragmatism.
It is ridiculous the way this series portrayed Hera and Zeus. Hera is depicted as guilty and judged as a jealous madwoman, while Zeus is portrayed as the good husband and good father. 🤢🤮
@@DonghuaTianlong I agree. Sometimes I wished Seraphim was the main protagonist, not Heron. Season 2 gave me a reason to love Seraphim as a protagonist while Heron did almost nothing but follow Zeus' instructions.
@@ryankwon8785 Honestly, Heron is the worst character in Blood of Zeus.
He's not interesting at all.
And one thing that really bothers me about Blood of Zeus or anything related to the Olympian gods is this fetishization of portraying Zeus as a good husband, father or just a man who loves women too much.
The irony is that Zeus' qualities are fitting for him to rule the Underworld as a powerful warden (he literally scares every human and monster in Greece) while Hades would have been a better ruler in Olympus (responsible and he reads situations really well).
@@ryankwon8785 I agree. Zeus as the antagonist would have been much better.
Hades' relationship with Seraphim really steals the show.
The sad thing will be having to see Zeus and Heron defeat Typhon and come out as great heroes and Zeus being recognized and declared king again in season 3
Greek gods have golden blood, just to say
When is this movie coming
See this is why we have weight classes... And why we don't get into fist fights with the god of throwing hands.
I really hope there’s a round two in season 3 and Heron beats the shit out of Ares

Reading the comments I am surprised that there are many who believe that Ares was a decent god in mythology, Ares was literally one of the worst gods, he was not someone you wanted to anger or offend, the mythological Ares would have killed Heron, turned him into an animal or I would have cursed him, unfortunately the myths where Ares is an idiot do not make noise and are not known.

Idk if you guys have been picking up on the subtext of modern media, but some of us are these beings. Only this is a lucid dream world. We’re the descendants of Fallen angels that posed as Gods. Relocated many times in history. Changed their names just as many times. Their shapeshifters. And they loved to mate with human women. They had many children. Much like every pantheon of gods
Does that mean I can wield lightning too?
