Live recording of "Always Another" from the 1984 "Word Of Mouth" album by Australian band Matt Finish. Lineup: Matt Moffitt, Jeff Clayton, Bert Dorsett and John Prior.
I recall with great fondness, seeing Matt Finish playing around Sydney all those years ago, when live music was still a wonderful part of our lives. I still listen to them today just shy of 40 years later. Thank you John Prior for your gift of music, such an extraordinary and talented musician, the lyrics of Matt Moffitt have not dated and are as relevant today as they were then. A wonderful memory for many of us. Anyone who witnessed them play live will remember the energy and how well they all played.
Bought ‘Short Note’ on the insistence of a drummer mate outside Allans in ‘81 - his band did a couple of covers ( Hot Cover and You Get So. ) Still have it 42 years later! Have managed to find vinyl and cd copies - Layman’s Day has always been a favourite- Amazing how so many Aussies don’t know about this great band - one of the best!
My mate and I still sit around have a few beers and listen to all Matt's tunes. Such talented musicians with unique playing style. No one sings and plays like Matt or drums crazy random stuff like Prior.
This song lives with me today. I play it almost every day...something amazing about the energy...and the drums are so driving...it's awesome good Australian.
Same! Defs has an amazing energy about it for sure. Amazing band.. and sadly I never new Matt had passed away until recently. Great band and a huge loss to Aussie music.
I went to the Matt Finish website & I'm going to buy all their CD's & I can't wait to have the whole collection simply awesome music & it should be part of every ones CD collection.
Awesome! With the pending 2006 Memorial Tour on our doorstep...It brings back the memories of what a genius songwriter Matt was, and a what BAND Matt Finish still are!
I taped this off Rock Arena one night many, many, many, many years ago. Although I've got the album for this there's just something different about this live version that stills puts a shiver down my spine. I'm wondering if anyone know's if you can get this cut on a single or ep somewhere??? Thanks to mattfinish1 for this extremely rare and uplifting video
fantastic stuff met matt and jammed with matt and bertie d love the idea of you guys taking it on the road i have tons of memories i went to at least 100 gigs please keep the dream alive as they say john and jeff you have seemed to pick a couple of excellent muso,s to complete the band i say GET IT ON THE ROAD PLEASE it will be a success
I never realised this was recorded live, then Matt went solo after this band, which was a good album. They were very much like 'Police' at the time really, but didnt have a strong image, which is why they never got huge, although they deserved it so much...'come on over' was my fav. Wonder what matt's doin now?
My band supported Matt and his mob at the North Wollongong pub back in the early 90's. I've been looking around for more of his stuff. Anybody got any ideas? It seems to be hard to get a hold of now. 8-(
@@stephenformosa1005 At that point in time it was Tuxedo Warrior, but we had a few different names. I know of you Stephen. You may know me as well. Check the vids on my youtube channel. Before that, I played in Mr Meaner with some guys you may be familiar with. Carlo Colella, Wayne Gunner, Paul Ainger, Paul Coombes were all part of the lineup at one stage or another. As for Tuxedo Warrior, that was with Glenn Bird, Wayne Dobbs and Gabe Vega.
Best Australian band EVER. We followed them everywhere. Thank you, Matt and John. Always in our hearts.
