- The beauty was a jaw-dropping rainbow of 80,000 tulips stretching across Union Square, free for the picking. City officials hope the Tulip Day celebration could help the struggling shopping district blossom again.

With Macy's leaving it will become a luxury desert. Those people lining up for free flowers didn't stay to shop. And how dare some supposed leader of Union Square try and shame locals for Macy's demise.
When you're done picking flowers, you can pick new glass for your broken car windows. At least your car will smell great with tulips.
Been in SF since last Wednesday, nothing happened
This is so wonderful! I want to see more positive things like this happening in Union Square and everywhere in SF.
I disagree agree with the DA. With the police presence, they made Union Square safer. I
But I wouldn't say it is safe. Not entirely yet, until many of the problems have been fully solved.
Talk about living in denial. R.I.P. once great San Francisco.
I was there its worth a wait beautiful tulips 🌷
how the murder stats going? enjoying your illegals still?
Once the shops are gone, they will not return. Where do people shop? Online maybe
Dammmmmnnnnn... That lady came all the way up from Los Angeles and waited from
5 A.M. to get 8 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 Tulips !
That's Hardcore.
RESPECT 💪 !!!
Union Square is great place to go to count all the vacant storefronts, wonder if your car gotten broken into, possibly venture a couple blocks passed the square to see real human zombies bent over looking at their ankles, and see half of SFPD's Force pretending to look tough on crime. Oh, and best of all, good luck trying to find a water closet if you need to go.
Everyone have a safe and happy weekend. ☮️
Union Square isn't a physical store that's getting robbed on a daily basis, of course it's there to stay. But it's not safe from vandalism or safe for people to be at all the time.
And the locals will fertilise it for free!
Oh yeah! As a San Franciscan, those tulips give us great hope! Hope for them to be grabbed from our hands as we're robbed less than a block over. Sorry peeps, but we will need a lot more to give us hope. LOL. This is too funny.
I don’t catch tickets ((( but I don’t care about free flowers, just want to make cute pictures. If the allowed ppl goes close to flowers area with out tickets or just around gate?((
Why are the tulips in pots on the ground? If SF has this “Tulip Day” every year, they ought to be more environmentally conscious of the waste of water, plastic, fuel, and manpower required for this ridiculous waste of taxpayer money. Tulips should be in the ground. Planted. They come back every year. That’s the whole point. Commiefornia needs to have an actual financial plan to help them get even flower beds right.
She wanted to say no! SO DUMB!
1:21 if you’re wondering why people don’t want to visit Union Square, you’re part of the problem Marissa.
Thao needs to be romoved,Oakland voted for her, defund the police and now complaining....How about the real crime on people, the youth of Oakland...
Ok… except this story was about San Francisco.
