Prestwick gets some variety of visitors. Ok, no longer a very busy airport, but still good viewing.

@@saintuk70 It's a military refueling base. Just look at how much money they have made from it. These planes must have been involved with this missile activity in you know where.

    The E-3B has JT3D's.
There were also JT3C's, which the first 707's and DC-8's were equipped with.
The Charlies were MUCH smokier and Noisier!

I saw these two aircraft on Flightradar24 on Monday.
Call sign NOVA02 and NOVA03; on a lengthy flight from Chania airport in Crete.
No doubt, just a short hop across the ocean for these guys!
    Good catch 👍🏻😁

The KC-135 has more modern high bypass engines.

    • @TheRipper5418

It's probably because the E-3 engines are still doing a good job and there's very little difference in the engine power between the E-3/TF33 at 21,500lbs of thrust and the KC-135R/CFM56 at 22,500lbs of thrust. When the USAF upgrades engines it usually means a Big difference in engine power.

Perhaps because the Air Force is investing in their replacement, the E7 Wedge Tail which is similar to those in service with Australia's Air Force. They recently came into an agreement on price...
