Unfortunately I have stopped using V-Ray. But yes if it is not animated I would convert it to a png black & white then color version. If it is animated you will have to use Aftereffect or FinalCut save out as a alpha channel. I have been getting very good results with r16 using the native renderer & global so I have stopped using V-Ray. Not that V-Ray isn't awesome. Thanks for the support.
