Thank you, Lincoln Hensley, for sharing your grandpa's farm for the filming location on this video. Brings back lots of memories of my grandpa's farm outside Decatur, TN.
That is cool indeed cool of him and so fitting for this song! The song/video remind me of my family roots in Harlan & Bell Counties in Ky. Even though I wasn’t raised there, I’ve visited many times over the years. “Mountains rising in my soul”, as Earl Thomas Conley wrote in “Smoky Mountain Memories”.
It may not seem relevant to some but after 3 years I decided to clear some woods and have found and old hog pin, old dog kennels, and old plows stretching about a mile in the most unsuspecting places and slowly getting the stories behind them, and lemme tell you it's only gave me the drive to make the land come alive again, maybe this place will be awesome again, thanks for listening
Flag Pond,TN… Just a short drive from Erwin, where my dad, Sister Elizabeth, Grandaddy Bob and Grandma Jimmie lived with other Hensley and Franklins. This video is a beautiful testament to life in the hills. Thank you all!
This group sure are great and the video is awesome hard to listen and watch without teardrops if you ever loved you’re grandparents and I might add Mr Tom T Hall was one heck of a songwriter 🇺🇸
Wow such a sad song of the forgotten small family farm.God save us if we ever have desperate times again. Will we have to rely on a foreign adversary for our food because we've forgotten the skills of self sufficiency. Progress can't always lead us to success. We cannot allow a foreign advasary to own and destroy our farms and our way of life. Thankyou for this song
I farmed out on western Nebraska in my late teens and early 20s, but I am from Pennsylvania, and farmed here too, I have seen so many old farms and homesteads where people worked hard to make a life and raised a family, now sit falling apart... Places like that all across America. Love this song, good to remember all those hard workers who got us to where we are as a country. Like dad says, we are running on inertia, from those before us. We live in comfort from their hard work.
Been making music for 58 yrs one of the best songs I’ve ever heard Precious Memories How They Linger How They Ever Flood My Soul! Thanks from the South Georgia Thumpers. BLUEGRASS RULES!
I so enjoy that kind of music. The people playing and singing are real, not the kind like we have today. Honor, pride and family ties are mostly absent in this world. Sad. I also had to wipe away tears. All good. Keep doin' what you're doin'.
Very good version of this song , and their talent really comes together on it. Ansley is awesome on the fiddle , Lincoln Hensley wonderful on banjo. Lincoln Mash , perfect vocal . Hope to hear much more from this band !
A band with musicians of different backgrounds came together, blend and play extremely well. Really excellent musicians and singers. A+ all around. A top bluegrass band.
Fell in love with blue grass at 11 years old on vacation in Kentucky out in a pasture. Was a natural amphitheatre in the side of rock face. They knew every song people called for . Great job folks
Beautifully sang and played. Tipper from Blind Pig and the Acorn blog had this link on her blog today. She thought her readers would enjoy your singing as much as she does. She was right, I sure did enjoy y’all’s singing. I’m not going to lie, it made me tear up, and reminded me of my family that’s gone on from this world, but I did enjoy your song. Thank y’all for sharing your talents!
Best stuff I’ve heard in a LONG time. I normally won’t even try listening to something new. Glad I did this time 👍🏻. Stands the hair on back of my neck straight up. That means it’s good 👍🏻
If you haven't seen this band live, go see them. Very entertaining, great show, awesome harmonies ! ! ! Oh, yea, lets not forget, the play the heck out of those instruments ! ! !
Great singing and musicianship, and the video is well done. Thank you for this! I am from eastern Kentucky, Floyd County, and it really takes me back to my childhood and roots in two small mining towns, Drift and Martin. I loved my life and surroundings as I grew up. Fond memories.
I was at Rudy Fest this year and saw Lincoln and Heather perform. I recognized his voice in this song. They had to walk off the stage finally after playing past their time and all the encores... Great talent. One of the best there this past year. Best of luck to y'all. Great song! Good sounding band.
I saw Lincoln few years back... told him I could get him some jigs. God given talent should be heard. So glad he doing it big. Appreciate you my friend.
Oh my, that mandolin and the beautiful harmony brought me straight back to when I was 10 years old with my dad at his bluegrass band practice. Thank you for sharing, brought a tear to my eye!
The song touches me and the musicians and singers give it the honor it deserves, a great gift to us all of a way of life long gone, yet it was part of our path to today.
"O lost, And by the wind grieved, Ghost, Come back again." Thomas Wolf-Asheville NC. I just thought that the song reminds me of another storyteller and his most famous quote. Pretty much sums up this beautiful piece of art.
I’m so excited for everyone to see the talent that this group brings. I’m looking forward to so much more to come from them. This is a true masterpiece !! ❤️❤️
Civilizations come and go.....That's history........ but it's the Lincolns and Ansley's that keep the hope alive that humanity may just survive
I cant stop listening to this song. Tennessee Bluegrass Band killed it! I think this is the best version of this song I have heard. Great job! Love it
As a man who has ran a dozer up on the hill for 12 years. I can relate
"Three generations of dreams turned to dust."
You guys and gals are amazing. You need to be on the Grand Old Opry. You a lot better than some of those people they have on there. Wow !!
Can’t get much better than this- lyrics and singing were mesmerizing!
Love that part with the banjo chiming with the fiddle; priceless. You all are the best.
It's all about the story. Wonderfully told.
This should qualify for a Grammy
That's an understatement!
That boy can sing it like no other!!!

don`t worship the ashes, preserve the fire.
Hot dam I miss Tennessee so bad. I'm in South Africa, I love it. But I miss my sanctuary.
