They actually do prescribe it for crohns in some cases. I think the theory is that because there is a lack of bacteria that means there is a vacuum for bad bacteria to proliferate (in a healthy gut I think the theory is that there is a balance) which causes the immune system to attack and cause further inflammation which is a vicious cycle.

I also believe that in this case, 'good' bacteria was not entirely absent, but just dangerously absent. Assuming that there might have been SOME 'good' bacteria remaining, the antibiotics would've only made the situation worse. In the case that you're describing where the patient had a deficient immune system, however, it would make more sense to prescribe antibiotics, but I don't believe that this was the case with this patient in specific...

@Grey i have Chron’s. it’s not just bacteria, it’s an inflammation in your bowels and stuff. it’s not fun at all. some people have it very very mild and some people like me have it much worse. also the symptoms are different. everyone gets stomach pains tho. i get really bad stomach aches and super tired. i’m also super short and underweight for being my age. Since I was little, I have been skinny. Im not anorexic and nothing is wrong, just underweight. My bones stick out, too, and people make it a point to tell me. I understand how you feel and at my old school I was bullied for being "fat" I kept my head high even though there was always a part of me going what they said is true. At my new school no body bullies me anymore but I feel like there will always be a part of me going they were right.
I had a friend at school, who was naturally so skinny, and tried her hardest to gain weight, but her metabolism was so high, one PE session would burn it all off. Everyone called her anorexic, and it made me so mad. How dare they assume that about my friend, because theyve seen her eating cakes and biscuits and ice cream, so she clearly isnt trying to be skinny. Its just disgusting that people are so quick to assume things.

Im respect you for having the courage to share your story, my best friend has chrons as well and it's truly heartbreaking to see her go in and out of hospitals, getting medicine and taking those god awful pills only to see her lose weight more. Seeing her was so painful for me and my another best friend, and all we wanted was to see her get better. Now she is has some, not really big, but has made subtle progress which had gone a long way for her and now she's aiming to get to 100lbs before the year ends. What the woman did to you is so shameful. You are beautiful inside and out. I respect you so much for telling your story.

@@midnightgachas7352 its an auto immune disease affecting your intestinal linings. When its flared up it causes nausea,loss of appetite,excessive diarrhea that can be bloody,fatigue etc. Crohns sometimes also affects nails eyes and hair sort of like a side effect of the disease

I used to have anorexia and anemia and thats the exact reason i used to have anorexia, now i only have anemia but that doesnt change anything

You are not alone in your struggle. While not as serious, I went through a similar situation as you before my Crohn’s was discovered; only it happened when I was like 10.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Youre not just spreading awareness but you are also giving hope to all of us Crohnies with that ending of the video. Its kind of funny because I also think that is the happy end I need in life to motivate myself to push harder. May we all find our happy end, our motivation and guys, remember this - no matter what people say about your weight or that you might be a junkie (this is my case and the reason why I didnt get a few jobs I wanted) dont feel bad or lose hope. Maybe you wont feel a change in a week or a month but I reached a remission in like 2-3 months with will power, diet and the pills im prescribed. The fact that I couldnt keep the remission for long enough is because I didnt want to follow this boring, mind numbing diet forever because I missed my favorite foods. Im slowly growing out of that mindset over time because as time passes you realize health is above everything :) The point of this comment is to let you know guys you are not alone even though the disease is rare and that you can make it no matter how hard it seems! :)
if a parent says like “you’re so skinny you should be shamed of yourself” those are what we call EM in the r/entiteledparents community if they bother you too much just call security and if they like try to assault/steal/scream at you, you can press charges or the police will take them away for disturbing the peace or assault and you can press charges just like that

I was called anorexic by my ELA teacher
I’am currently dealing with people who did this to me, bullying me for being skinny. They even created a group chat to talk about me and insults me for being me, telling me only dogs would appreciate me. I talk to them clear things up but they secretly recorded our conversation and later on listened to it to make fun of it. I was told to be ashamed for being bony and that i should never think that i look sexy. I cant even look in the mirror without judging myself while crying.
I realized, this story is almost of me too. I had so bright smile when I heard, she wants to be a graphic designer. Just like me. Im having stomach issues too, but I live in a place where doctors are bad, and surgery is too expensive so I can't do much.. But this story is helped me a lot. I felt so bad for years too, and then so many thing changed because of my dreams.. I feel so good, because I'm not alone. Thank you. ❤️

don’t have either :) i have Chron’s. it’s not fun at all 😒. some people have it very very mild and some people like me have it much worse. also the symptoms are different. everyone gets stomach pains tho. i get really bad stomach aches and super tired. i’m also super short and underweight for being my age. (12) i’ve been sent to the ER twice in one year. i hate being called skinny! people always says it’s amazing but i can’t gain weight it’s so hard! also i have to be on this super strict diet so no junk food ever or sugar. basically just potatoes, chicken, salads, and like some fruits :(

I don't have Crohn's and I don't have any eating disorder(s), but because of hereditary stuff I have never weighed more than 105lbs. I'm 5'4" and when I was about 10 my step-father told me I was "Deathly Skinny" (I was maybe 4'7" and about 70lbs) and I fell into a really dark place. This story really spoke to me about being nicer to people no matter their weight. You wouldn't expect people to shame skinny people, because it's never portrayed in the media, but oh my goodness does it ever happen. Love yourself and be yourself, others shouldn't tell you why your body isn't good enough.

Hi I'm Emily and I have Chron's Disease too. My Chron's was caught early because I had early symptoms such as stool blood, but I was only 12 at the time. My parents didnt want me to take the medication because of the side effects. Instead we took a natural route and I am on a diet called the GAPS diet. Now, 5 years later, I'm on remission and am doing good. I'm glad that the person in this video found a way to get past it 😊

Well I dont know if i have crohns but, even if i eat fast food for days without any thing healthy none stop i dont gain any weight im always skiny and people who asked me, "Why are you so skiny? "
I allways told them that whatever i eat and how many of it, i never gain any weight some of them then say that they are jealous but some call me a freak...
