What Wes Ball did with this movie astounded me! Continuing the story of Caesar by exploring his legacy as an almost religious figure was brilliant. On top of that the VFX were immaculate and the performances just as impressive. An epic return to this world that has me wanting a lot more! Great review’
Liked this one but didn't love it. It's very square one again- which isn't a bad thing at all. Had a great time watching it, I really hope they go for a second trilogy that builds the same way as that Matt Reeves one. Wonderful foundation.
I don’t love it as much as you did but I did enjoy it. I think it’s 3rd in the franchise because Dawn & War are just incredible films. But I agree with you that this is probably the best quadrilogy ever
Reason why many people dont like this as much the 3 previous movies, is because they cant move on from Caesar yet. This movie is good. I believe it is better than War and Rise.
I don’t know how this got a B cinema score. Personally this is my favorite movie of the year so far as well. Everything about it just clicked with me. The original trilogy is one of my favorite of all time and I’m glad that this wasn’t Fumbled. I can’t wait to see where the story and new characters go. Also after watching I can completely see Wes Ball doing the Zelda movie. From the vibes of this movie, to Noa’s hero journey. I think Wes is going to crush it.
While Dune Part 2 is still my favorite movie of the year so far, Kingdom is still really damn good. It’s not as good as the Caesar trilogy, but it didn’t need to be, it’s able to stand on its own and continue on what made those so great with amazing visuals and a great story & new characters. The only knock for me is the pacing and Ioved Proxima Caesar, but I wanted more of him, but this movie is great. I’m curious to see how it will do in the box office because apparently audiences were more divisive on it, especially looking at that B on Cinemascore, which ain’t a great grade for that site, and might affect its legs at the box office but we’ll see. I hope it does well.
I'm sure it will do just fine. Saw 'Kingdom" with my mom on Saturday. We both loved it! Reminded us of the original "Planet of the Apes." Loved all the callbacks & Easter Eggs to the 5 original films & the two TV series. The storyline was great, the performances were top-notch, the CGI & visuals were amazing. Academy Award worthy.
My question about Proximus Caesar is this…. Did he warp Caesars teachings or is that how Caesars story was taught to him? I mean Noa never even heard of Caesar. Rocca seems to be the only one in this film that actually knows the truth about Caesar. Is it possible that whoever taught Proximus about Caesar had it wrong themselves? Maybe Proximus truly believes what he is preaching about Caesar is the true teachings of Caesar? I never seen Proximus as a villain. Sure his methods aren’t the best but if he truly believes that this is how Caesar ruled and lead the apes to the promise land. Then he is simply following in his footsteps to do whatever he has to do to secure the future of his people. He even says how if humans can recover and take the planet back his people will be put back in cages and zoos. I mean he even takes on the name Caesar. lol
He could choose to be a benevolent leader but he doesn't, and still takes down other clans to pad his followers. He's awful but your comment just shows how much charisma does for such a cult leader.
In a biblical reference Caesar is like Moses and the apes are the children of Israel Moses died before they got to the “promise” land but now on this movie his teaching have been distorted through the generations. Very good film
I just saw it today, I’m sorry people but this movie was extremely boring! The whole movie is very very slow! I would give it a five. The previews did not match the movie! I was super excited. But this movie came up flat. I thought this movie was going to be the continuing story of Caesar’s surviving son when he got older, and the apes who were with Caesar divides, and Cesars son was trying to follow his father‘s footsteps or something. That’s what the previews made it look like. But it wasn’t that. The movie is nothing but just a bunch of apes getting captured by other apes, and that one ape going to rescue them outside of a military bunker off the beach! The ape fight at the end was wack! The plot was wack also. That’s me! Out of all these new planet of the apes movies, I think the second one was the best one! Mainly because it had a point to it!
Nine movie deal? That would be epic so we'll get to see Noa become the new leader of his clan plus see what happens to Mae after her encounter with Raka & Noa. She saw not all apes are like Proximus it's obvious she has her own agenda & that agenda may come back & bite her which will lead to her downfall. Then another hundred years we'll see Noa's decendants as they too try to live with the humans & humans getting their speech & intelligence back. Some wanting to live peacfully with the apes the other half wanting to destroy them because humanity refuses to take accountibility that they caused their own downfall.
This looks like a fantastic film. I'll definitely need to view this eventually. One thing about the original film from 1968 that people forget, is the character of dodge. I saw it in the late 1980s or early 1990s and although I wasn't looking for it, I did like how they portrayed dodge, who was the african american astronaut scientist. It is hard for me to think of that type of diversity in a science fiction film from that period of time. He was one of the main characters in the beginning of that film also. They even have taylor and landon talking about how curious he is and that he would walk into a live volcano, if it meant he could learn something. He also had a fair amount of dialogue in the film, so we got to know somewhat about who he was, along with his personality. Another thing I liked is how taylor was laughing at landon planting the american flag. I don't think taylor was unpatriotic or didn't like they symbolism of it. I think he was laughing because this was two thousand years into the future. I don't think he believed that the united states of america still existed. He likely thought that there were no nation states or that america had ceased to exist. Perhaps he thought another country became dominant since then. There are very few countries in history that have lasted more than a couple thousand years. If they do they usually are not the same country as they were in the past. He was still sending out messages like he did in the beginning of the film, and he told the crew to send out a last message when they crash landed. He even had to remind landon to send out the last message before the ship sank. So he certainly believed that humans had advanced and were possibly still around to hear those messages. Although he did say in the opening, that he wasn't sure if anyone was still listening. However since that was his assigned task he still sent messages anyway. I think he still believed that people on earth were still receiving his updates, before he found out the truth later. So even though it may not have been americans directly receiving the messages, he must have believed someone people and scientists were receiving it. They certainly would have been broadcast throughout the population of earth as well, for anyone interested in hearing it. One last thing about the original from 1968 is the one liners. I'm not talking about the one corny line at the end, but the various ones throughout the film that really hold up even today. There is just a ton of great lines if you listen carefully. Along with visuals that you may not think about on a first viewing with the apes and humans. Great stuff.
People who think tim Burtons planet of the apes movie sucked confuse me. It was more consistent with the originals that the new ones. I absolutely love the new films, but Tim's was fantastic as well.
Movie was ok i felt like it did nothing but set up the next movies with apes wars. i think they held back alot in the kingdom part as it was just tribes and a settlement. They couuld have went all out with ape world of empires but its just a set up movie so they need something new for the next movies
This is one of them films that I wanna buy the book … the art of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes if they ever put one out. I’m dying to see all of the concept art bc the world they created is just amazing.
I think Kilmonger has inspired and will continue to inspire a lot of villains and they made sure proximus fell in water in case they want to bring him back. Well done
If you liked this movie, you'd love the Bible. Caesar is Moses. Noah is Jesus. Proximus represents the crown of Satan. Tree of life vs tree of knowledge, but the thing is Moses was evil and most dont realize it. Noah and Jesus were the saviors in the Bible and that's why the chose the name of Noah, which means No-ah (peace).
This was my most anticipated movie of the year, and while I loved being back in this world, I only liked the movie as a a whole. The VFX are beyond astounding, and I love the character work, but I was underwhelmed by the story and plot. I wish I never saw a single piece of advertisement, because the film didn’t go far beyond what I surmised from the marketing. For a lengthy movie I actually thought it went by quickly, but I was waiting for a burn that never came. There was no oomph for me. I think it’s my least favorite of the Caesar Saga quadrilogy.
The first half of the movie was terrifying because all that bad shit happened and i could not imagine how Noa could get back on top and having lost so much ending up alone .. damn dat hurt for real 😂 i love it when a movie is able to surprise me ! Very good movie ❤❤❤❤
Im typing this before watching so forgive me if u do answer this in the vid but my question is do u think Proximus is really dead? I dont think they would waste such a perfect villain and i think hes the only ape who could survive that fall
I thought it was beautiful to look at, and I did enjoy the film, but for me I didn't find the characters as interesting as the previous trilogy. I fell in love very quickly with ceasar and his crew, this one not so much.
The last three planet of the apes movies,, were excellent. So I look forward to seeing this new planet of the apes movie. Although I do hope they bring in the time traveling aspects of the original 1968 films (But let’s take it maybe 800 to 1000 years into the future) into the next couple of films. That’s if they can continue the trilogy. But here are my thoughts,, For example,, in the next film, it would be great if they brought in the telepathic humans from the original 1968-70’s films. These telepathic humans worshiped a nuclear device. It would be great to learn how they became telepath,,, and where they got the nuclear device from. And how they use their minds to manipulate and scare the apes away,, from the land that these telepathic human beings occupied. Then,,, in the third film of this new trilogy,, they should introduce the time traveling astronauts. And blend the time traveling astronaut story, ,, with the telepathic human characters. Now that would be great sci-fi. What do you think? I just feel that,, 6 movies of Humans running from apes,, in every movie,, can get a bit predictable after a while.
34:51 Actually the only other cast members I knew was the girl who played May, because she was on The Witcher and Peter Macon as Raka, who was on The Orville.
i really liked this. 🫶🏼 i was dreading it but was SO happy with the result. i think what’s eating lots of people is that they were expecting “the fast and furious planet of the apes”, which it is not. it has actual character and environmental development, foreign concepts in todays movies. so foreign that people don’t know how to recognize it when it happens, and therefore can’t appreciate it. damn shame. i give it 4/5. keep on slaying herman. 👊🏼

It's story is literally a new hope with monkeys and I'm tired of it. Everything feels extremely half baked and the score is extremely forgettable. Noa is not in Caesars league and their is almost no plot cohesion here just some cool ideas with no substance. Commited performances and excellent fx can't save this. I'm depressed. I was really primed to like this.
