Exceptional video. I need to replace a Bristain shower as they've decided to discontinue their nice looking ones such as the one in the video and I was wondering what the difference would be internally, so this was very helpful
Great video enjoying your channel i have a mira advance atl some years old and its packed up it says its an 8.7 kw so ive seen a mira shower thats 8.5 kw so am i ok to go ahead and fit the lower 8.5 kw shower ?
Interesting video, thanks. I replaced the shower head on my 8 year old Mira Play some time ago but only recently realised that this head had an off switch in addition to narrow and wide. Seemed like a good idea as more convenient than switching the whole unit off and on when using it to clean the shower cubicle. However when I did switch the head off the hose got very hot and the combi-boiler reported a problem and switched off. I reset the Worcester 4000 boiler (easy) but then the shower unit would not heat water at all. Turns out a unit component (thermostat?) blew. Mira service was great, choice of replace the component or replace with a complete new unit. I chose the latter. Mira only cost £100 in labour - much cheaper than finding a local plumber - though the new unit from Mira was a little more expensive than from e.g. Screwfix. Lesson learned - do not use an "Off" option on a shower head with an electric shower; a gravity shower unit should be OK though.
thanks James, one of the things i always see listed is the rate of flow against the pressure of the water, how does this relate to the kW of the shower itself?
Thanks for all that information. My shower still works but the case has broken away from the wall, it's a 10 year old mira. So unfortunately I've got to have a whole new placement shower but looking at your video they have all changed/ improved. Good to learn about the importance of the cable size. When they fitted my old one the cable overheated ( from a reputable plumbing company too )😮 which are better mira or triton? Thanks great video.
Unfortunately, we aren't able to recommend a specific model but please see our full range of electric showers here - www.plumbworld.co.uk/electric-showers-65-0000 We suggest contacting a qualified electrician who will be able to advise on your specific circumstances.
Hi, unfortunately, this isn't something we can advise on as this will depend on your current set-up. We would advise getting in touch with a professional shower fitter.
Thank you for your question! Pumped electric showers aren't suitable for connecting directly to a cold mains feed. You can use a standard electric shower with a pump though, providing you're not using a combi boiler. If you do have a combi boiler then a higher kilowatt rating of electric shower may well give you a bit of a boost as it'll be able to heat more water faster, but you would need to be mindful of the electrical cable that's being run to it. Too high of a kilowatt may result in overheating of the cables which is dangerous. The only other advice we can offer is the potential to upgrade your boiler. Conventional and system boilers are compatible with power showers which use a built-in pump for higher pressure. In situations like this, we would always advise that you speak with a qualified installer who can take a look at your setup. They'll then be able to advise on the best course of action for your particular situation.
cool video, one thing I'd like to know though is what one is just as good as or just as powerful as a mains mixer shower? one that actually matches a good mixer shower, would it be that first one you pointed out, the power shower electric? nothing worse when someone is like, "yeh great shower same as a mains mixer" then it's just worlds apart with not much force coming out like a caravan effort lol.
My electric shower has stopped working which was in the house when we bought it. Never had an electric shower before so I’m not 100% what sort I should be looking for. I have a cold water tank in the loft and boiler with separate hot water cylinder so I’m taking it that I have a low pressure gravity fed system. The water pressure downstairs is great, upstairs not so good but ok. Now do I just need a normal electric shower or a pumped electric shower?
Thank you for your message. From your description, it sounds like you might have a gravity system which means you should be able to install most shower types (mixer, digital, electric, or power showers). We would, however, recommend checking our website and speaking to a qualified installer about specific models as compatibility varies between brands.
I have the the Aqualisa lumi 10.5kw electric shower, however the issue I'm having is when I turn the shower on the waters that's coming out is boiling hot no matter what temperature I set it as, and there is hardly no water pressure at the same time also, any ideas what this issue could be please?
Love your vids as always! Could you fit the dual head shower to any electric shower in theory? Also you didn't show how you select between the two heads?
Thank you for your query. Our customer service team would be the best people to advise on this. They can be contacted via web chat, email - customerservices@plumbworld.co.uk or by calling 01386 800750.

Thank you for your message. The type of shower you need generally depends on the type of boiler you have and your water pressure. The below infographic might help to narrow down your choice: www.plumbworld.co.uk/whichshowerdoineed-infopage If in doubt we would suggest contacting a plumber before purchasing a shower.
My electric shower has stopped working after 4 years. It was a Aqualisa Quartz. Getting an upgrade to an Aqualisa Lumi. I hope it's ok and will last. That's the problem with electric showers.
@@melr7629 It's nice. It lights up and it's quite cool without the lights on. Has a sensor button which can be sensitive if you get to close. When you turn it on or off just gently touch the button precisely and turn off fine. No problems otherwise. Enjoy. X
A shower should well exceed 4 years. I wouldn't be going for the same brand if I'd had to replace the previous one within the first 7 years. My Mira advance is 8 years old, I have a wife and 3 girls so trust me when I say it gets well used.
Why does UK have such an odd word for water heater? "Electric shower"? Sounds like you're going to get a shower head that shoots bolts of electricity down on you.
Very well explained
Excellent presentation better than anyone I have ever seen

Did you miss mains cold feed or did I? I have a 0.6 bar pressure on mains feed cold. Can I use a pumped electric shower on that or is it tank only?
