Is it me or do I feel sadness and love radiating from Arthur’s theme? Arthur loves his Camelot very much, but he can’t prevent it from falling. As a result, he wants to turn back time and make sure he isn’t proclaimed king. In order to do that, he has to fight, even though he doesn’t want to. That’s how I understood it anyway.
One wrong point: Artoria’s the one who wanted someone else to take her place, Arthur wanted a do-over to create an eternal kingdom free of suffering. Then he had that encounter with Ayaka in the greenhouse, and decided to focus his efforts on the future, even though he knew, objectively, he’d never realize his wish. Basically, Arthur’s motivation is what Shirou’s would become in UBW.

He decided to hunt beast because of those realisations (plus Ayaka)

Proto Saber - Arthur is just much better than Artoria in my opinion. His powers are much interesting as while at his peak he can probably give even the big bad meanie Archer Gil a run for his money, he normally is not that strong. Fate Prototype deserves an anime adaption. Both Holy Grail Wars deserve one imo. (Not making fun of Artoria, I just like Arthur way more)
