He did go around to all his restaurants and cook chicken for real. I saw him in LaPorte, Indiana around 1970 when I was a kid. He was in the back doing just as he is doing in this film. I don't recall him sneaking a piece, but who could blame him. Lol!
Ray Baby, he was rich, but not real rich. He sold KFC for a million dollars and then it started the franchises. After this it was a multi billion dollar industry. I'm not sure if he graduated from high school or not.
Everything he tried he failed until at 62 years old he took his retirement check from the state of Kentucky and went across the US trying to sell people a recipe for fried chicken before someone in Salt Lake City bought the recipe and started a restaurant called "Kentucky Fried Chicken" and Colonel Sanders became a household name across the world. Because it's not how often you fail. It's how often you get up to try again.
Memories!!! KFC 🐔 They hired us 14 and 15 year olds (1967) and trained us on those hot shortening pressure cookers. Boys back in the kitchen during working hours and girls wearing those red and white dresses on the front counter. No fraternizing allowed. Each cooker was timed with a loud buzzer and it sounded like a steam engine room when we released the pressure and then popped the lids off. The chicken was cooked in scalding hot Shortening. We all have scars. Chicken was never frozen and came packed in ice. They let US cut them into quarters with a kitchen ban- saw!! We made the Cole slaw and gravy then actually guarded the packs of the Secret Recipe . No ingredients were on the packs. I took some home but couldn't identify ANY of the herbs and spices. Lmao. Then the entire kitchen and pots were scrubbed down USN style. I ate that chicken for years free of charge before retirement at 18 !!!
Changing tastes and health guidelines have changed the taste of Kentucky Fried Chicken! When the Colonel made his chicken, he used beef fat as the oil. Now they use vegetable oil. Big difference in taste. The mashed potatoes used to taste great! Now, they taste like mashed potatoes from a box!
I actually saw him do this in a Detroit Area store back in 1976... He told a few stories of his own experiences with unusual customers while he was making his chicken...
He looking sad at this video and I feel sorry for him,I dont know why but... I mean:He’s alone at a night, his Passion is Chicken and he made such generous prices❤️❤️❤️😔😭
He was my neighbour as a kid in Mississauga Ontario. He lived on Melton Street. Feel free to Google. He lived in a modest bungalow but did have a white Cadillac. Plate was KFC 111.. I agree, and was thinking the same thing, and also missing his beard net and gloves, lol. This was made, back in the day, when food was made to taste good, instead of being over analyzed. 🐔
@MrHoppers002 No, he wasn't in the Spanish-American War. Harland Sanders wasn't even 10 when that war was on. He was born in 1890, that war was in 1898. Maybe WW1...he was in his late 20s at that time.
His fried chicken is untouchable nobody can make fried chicken better than him he kept studying the recipes more than you can imagine stayin up late and stuff no fried chicken is better

KFC chicken of 2020 is still finger looking good, but back then it was 100% better. More of an intense scrumptious flavour than now unfortunately.
todays KFC chicken has so much grease and oil in it, you could pour it in your cars crankcase and lubricate your engine for miles
