Very good test, and about what I expected. I think if you did the test 10 times you'd get some results where the i3 is better just because of the slight variations the robots take on their respective runs. But a 6% difference is definitely within what I would consider margin of error.
In a single room with no objects, the upward facing camera doesn't give you any real advantage except perhaps in self orientation. The i3 has to periodically go back within range of the clean base to get it's bearings, since it's using an internal gyro and floor facing camera for the internal map. This is why it can't use the smart map because it has no ability to "see" it's surroundings, It only maps where it's been, and all the wall and obstacle data is what is provided by the impact and IR sensors gathered during each cleaning run.
In addition to the same gyro and floor facing camera as the i3, The i6/7 and s9 have the upward facing camera, so they can use stored images to compare. However, if there is not "enough" light in the room, then they basically revert back to an i3 and rely on their internal navigation suite. This is why if you throw an i6/i7 or s9 in a really dark room, it might ignore your keep out zones.
Totally agree with your assessment. Amazon Warehouse is almost making it impossible to recommend the "cheaper" econo-bots. The $167.00 I spent on each of my i3's was about $10 LESS Than I paid for my Eufy 15C Max. And there's no comparison.
The other thing to keep in mind is that NO company supports their products long term like iRobot. Replacement parts are still available for the original Roomba's, so you can feel confident that your "investment" has some legs to it.
The i3 just got smart mapping on the latest software update and it works great!
Does the Neato D8 act weird on hard floors? I'm hoping the Roborock Auto-Empty will release tomorrow.
The I7 cleaned 25 minutes longer, which makes the I3 look even better. Design wise I know the I7 can't go on my shag, the I3 can. Not sure if that's a wheel or design difference.
Did you find that the empty bag for the i6+ weighed less than empty bag for the i3+? Aren't they the same bags - it looks like Roomba sells the same bags for i3+, i6+, i7+ and i8+? Am I missing something?
Yes they are the same bag
Shouldn't the math show that the i3+ picked up more than the i6+? i3+ weighed in at 1:153 and the i6+ weighed in at 1:150 - after their respective tests.
But now you can 😄 13:41
Hey Adam, was curious have u ever replaced a brush motor or the main roller modules in the i7? Asking for future reasons when time comes to replace them as some 3rd party ones got good reviews and some bad. If u have what brand/company did u use for the replacement motors as I think my brush motor actually might need replaced with how it sounds.
I have just replaced the rollers not the entire modules.
@@AdamsReviews Alright np, i did just find something out though u may find useful to let people know. Even if u buy a roomba ( Mines the i7 ) from amazon used/pre owned and as long as its from amazon and not a 3rd party did u know irobot gives u a 1 year warranty? I called them and im getting a free brush module for free sent so in short u can buy one and not worry as if something is wrong or goes wrong within a year they cover everything, no charge.
@@AdamsReviews which brand did u go with for rollers and have u used any 3rd party side brushes? If so what brand as one i got was horrible side brushes.
How do you clean between tests? Is there a chance Rice is left in the carpet between tests?
I use a dyson and go over it all...sure its possible there could be a little bit.
Roborock S4 Max on SALE!!! 309 dollars!!!! Roborock S6 Pure back at 359 dollars!!!
Have you checked Vacuum wars review of it and he said it had a little more suction and airflow.
I love Vacuum Wars, but his methodology for measuring suction and airflow isn't extremely precise. The differences between the i6/7 and i3 are so minute, they can be explained by variations in the test rig, or strength of the battery at the time of testing.
The i6/i7 and i3 use the exact same cleaning components and those parts are interchangeable between the models, so I expect any real differences to be explained by testing methodology or variances in manufacturing.
When will you get the s7 I really want to see how much it can pick up I bought a new roborock s5 max and I want to see if the s7 is better so I can change there is only one more week of warrenty
Possibly soon. was waiting for the self empty bin but there is no word on when that will come out.
Roomba 980 update 2.4.16-126
Whats New?
Vacuum wars said i3+ has more power than i7+ does
Pretty sure they are the exact same.
The roomba 595 would have picked up 3 lbs
If anyone else orders a i6+ let me know if you get a i7+ instead. There pretty much same minus a different color top and included accessories he said before but I paid for a used i6+ and got a brand new i7+ it seems so I’m curious if it happens to anyone else.
well! That’s interesting

First
i wonder how the i3 dirt detections works , there is no sensor under the rollers versus the i6/i7/i8
From what I’ve heard the sensor in the bin, when detects a lot of incoming debris coming to the dustbin then it activates dirt detect event.
