I always taught my students to slightly roll their index barre finger towards the thumb side to make it easier because the finger is rigid and won't bend in that direction when the strings are on the side of the finger. Also, position the thumb directly behind the index finger allowing them the leverage by pinching the thumb and index together and only squeeze just barely hard enough to fret the strings cleanly, and because they position the finger directly behind the metal fret, they were able make the most accurate pitch with the cleanest and clearest tone that has the best sustain. Once they build strength, they can stop rolling their index finger and not fatigue.
I have gained a great deal from your theory modules, however I have sometimes struggled to apply some of them to real world playing. This video, along with others detailing the practical application of key concepts are fantastic, thank you Ricky, keep them coming.
Hello first time watching I’m a beginner been doing about a year I’m 65 years old and retired and always wanted to challenge myself and learn a new skill and Guitar is one of them. It’s not easy but I’m determined to learn I’m not gonna be a Jimi Hendrix or Jim page I just want to learn how to play music. My goal is the next two years. Thank you.
Maan, I’ve been wanting to start learning bar chords, but everybody’s made it so difficult or BORING 🤣 until now. HEY RICKY! You just made my 2024 a whole lot happier. Thank you so much & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU, TOO!❤️❤️❤️😁

Great tutorial. Love the scout, shape, barre concept.
Have to use this for Bm, as that barre chord is my nemesis.
Thanks Ricky

Question, are you gonna have any videos for beginners? Thank you.
I would suggest watching his "CAGED" videos, once you know the basic chord shapes it makes more sense. Keep practicing :)
