    Thank y’all for doing it RIGHT! I’ve played drums all my life and played harp for 30 years. I’ve always loved Duane and at age 71 I decided to get me a Les Paul. I’m a bone beginner but picked up a couple of licks from you. It’s encouraged me to keep going. I’ll never play like Willie, but, if I can make one good Duane sound, I’m happy.
    Thanks again. I’m lovin it.

      Slide guitar is a lot like harp because of the open tuning. Duane was pure Little Walter. He knew the score. All the best. 🤘

    WOW! As a life-long ABB fan and student (and player) this band NAILS the sound - especially the slide player - I play slide and have played Statesboro Blues for decades now and I must say that guy has amazing feel, timing and tone...to do it that well is very rare (if nonexistent). I don't live too far away from you and if you guys are still together (I know this video was four years ago) I would love to catch your set.

      Hey there thank you for the kind words. I am the slide guitar player in this band, and yes, we are very much still together. I am also now playing in Dickey Betts’ Great Southern Reunion. Please check out my website for more information. Thanks! www.williewilliamsmusic.com

    Nice. Camera a bit too distant. Who's doing the slide? He's about as close as you could get to Duane's rendition. Thumbs up!

      thanks David. That would be me, Brian "Willie" Williams. Check some of the other videos on my channel for lots of Duane stuff. He's my biggest influence to say the least. ;) Also, much better video coming very soon! Our 10th anniversary show is this Friday and we hired a film crew to record it. Stay tuned!

    Hey Willie, loving your slide licks ❤️. Just wondering what type of slide you use? Somehow I'm not getting replies from my comments. I'm working on that. Hopefully I'll get your response. You sent me a ❤️on one of my post but I don't know if you left a reply or not. Btw I've lived in Nashville over 40 yrs and live just north of there now. Keep on truckin!

      Rayburn Yarborough hey there pal, I have an old coricidin bottle that I treat like gold. Also got a bunch of Dunlop copies as backups in case the old one ever breaks. Thanks man!

      @rayburnyarborough4695 5 лет назад +2

      VirtualWoodshed that’s awesome man. I’ve got some coricidin bottles also I found in an old house. I could probably let you have one as another backup if you’d like (still have the caps on them)I really like your playing! You’ve got that touch
      I’m sure you probably know the coricidin bottle story. Duane and Greg went horseback riding and Greg told Duane that his horse was a little jumpy. Sure enough the horse bucked Duane (or something). Anyhow he broke his arm and didn’t speak to Greg for a month. Greg took him by a bottle of coricidin and the rest is history. The next time Greg saw him Duane was wearing it out. I want to say he was listening to Ry Cooder. Anyhow, cool story!
      How old are you man. I’m 67 going on 39 lol.
      Let me know how I can get this bottle to you. I’d love for you to have another spare. Best

    Whats loaded in the sg pickups tone caps and what amp tubes speakers ??
    For both LP and SG AMAZING SPOT ON SOUND ! ENTIRE BAND IS GREAT..

    • @VirtualWoodshed
      @VirtualWoodshed  5 лет назад +1

      thanks so much man! The SG is a totally stock 2002 or 3, I can't remember. I bought it used a couple years ago and have never even taken the control plate off. I think the pickups are Gibson 57 classics and I guess everything else is stock. The amp is a bone stock '73 Marshall 50w and the speakers are Celestion G12Ms in a Marshall 4x12. No pedals. I can't remember what tubes are in there. Nothing special. Thanks again man!

    I have to say while the sound of the recording is really crap, that slide sure sounds good. Derek could cop a couple of those licks!
    Well done -

    Need more bass loudness to make the song more inviting and dynamic.
