10:42 personally, I feel the purple for her lips looks better. It helps with the fact that a Frankenstein is basically a dead body brought back to life through electricity. Knowing that she was originally dead, I feel it makes it feel more like a beautiful corpse brought back into the moonlight. Not only that, the cool colors work well and I feel the red, though would match the original design, would’ve made the illusion feel less real. You did such a beautiful job on her redesign and your videos were calming to watch :3
This almost feels like a time skip! As she “grows” older, her skin has started to discolor and her initial wound ripped further open as she lost elasticity. She got a new wound as her skin cracked open along her mouth, and her cheeks and eyes are slowly sinking into her skull. But at the same time, she’s learned how to do proper make up, and embrace her unique “aging” process as an undead girl. She’ll probably need to befriend a mortician soon-ish though, electricity and a beating heart aren’t everything 🙈🙈🙈 She’s gonna need some embalming fluid in her veins and some filler in that face of hers if she wants to keep looking alive!! Sorry I’m an anthropologist and I couldn’t help myself!!! I wonder how you’ll tackle Cleo, seeing as she’s a literal, semi-unwrapped mummy. I’d suggest looking at real mummies for reference (doesn’t have to be Egyptian necessarily) because there are some old gals out there looking VERY beautiful still, and it’d be very easy to take their beauty and glam them up as they would if they could still move around!
The purple lips are SO PRETTY! It fits better into her overall color pallette. Making her an overall cool toned doll rather than having these random warm accents makes her more cohesive imo
So lovely, oh my goodness. Every detail is stunning, but there's something about watching your dolls' eyes come to life that is always so satisfying. The eyes, the eyelids, and the shading are just so lovely, and you have such a distinct style. This was such a great way to honor the original design while still creating something so uniquely yours.
Hi! I just wanted to say that with rerooting, try smaller bunches. I’ve had the problem of putting to much hair in one plug and have split the vinyl and the hair falls out easier. Idk if this was your problem, but I hope it’s helpful, anyway. As always, your work is beautiful!
@@etellan no problem! I’ve only been working on dolls for about a year and I ended up overloading one doll with so much hair that I used 2 hanks and didn’t even cover the whole head. I think it’s a common mistake when starting to reroot.
I’ve used a product called “Goo Gone” on sticky doll hair to get some of that out for dolls in my collection, the products main use is for removal of decal glue, or stubborn bugs and bird poop on vehicle exteriors, it helps dissolve the glue You’ve got an amazing “audiobook” voice, you tell such an in-depth story about your work, very cool Frankie’s bootiful! 😍 I absolutely adore an artists take on commercial character, especially yours ❤️
Oh wow!! Thank you so much for the tip, I have never heard of the product so it's definitely so appreciated! That's so so sweet of you to say, honestly would be so enjoyable to do😍
Her stitches are incredible. From the thumbnail? I thought they genuinely were raised, like you had made them using epoxy. Phenomenal shading work, you literally made me think they were 3D!
I love this doll so much! You managed to make her fit more of the undead look while keeping her features looking kind, gentle and sweet just like the real Frankie. I also love the purple lips, after all she is dead. I feel like if anything Frankie's lips would be naturally blue.
Man after you repainted her and put on that outfit it really shows just how much those original Monster High dolls were designed and made with care, the iutfits look so original and it’s the kind of fashion that will always be in. The doll looks better than ever❤️
no cause you really made her look more like a monster with this revamp, I am in love with your work and you are so good at bringing out how amazing each character is
Whoever said you should leave the doll as-is has no idea how much skill, hard work, style, and creativity it takes to repaint dolls. You’ve done a fantastic job with every single doll you get your hands on, all while honoring the original design. Keep doing what you’re doing!
I actually love the purple lips. It adds to the factor that she is dead, but also alludes to the fact that maybe she's not wearing makeup and she's just blessed with natural beauty. I'd love to see Dracilaura
I wasn't young enough for MH when they were a thing, so the most exposure I've had to the series is through doll customizers. That being said, your revamp of this doll really honors both her og design and the Frankenstein lore in a truly beautiful way! All your choices are fantastic, especially the different eyebrows and lips-small details but they really make her feel coherent. Great job as always!
btw i love how you redesign the dolls, you don't ruin them, you give them a second life and a new start. I also think each design is beautiful, and tbh i love her purple lips better than the original red, the red n the original looked odd bc of the tone in her skin
You have really come so far. When you started off on RUclips you were so shy and soft spoken, you lacked confidence but you seem much more comfortable and just exude such emotion. You are so talented and truly an inspiration
I completely relate to feeling like a "restless creator", especially in lockdown. While we were in lockdown over here in America, I would get this- this is a weird way to describe it but bear with me- itch in my muscles that made me feel like I'd go bolting for the door if I didn't create something! It was such a unique feeling. I really hope the lockdown lets up for y'all soon!!
gosh she looks absolutely amazing! you totally gave her a new (undead) life! my favorite thing atm is taking a cup of tea and watch your videos! all the love!
This turned out really beautiful! Enjoyed the thought you put into interpreting Frankie's design! Of the dolls you mentioned having, I'm most interested in your interpretations of Spectra and Clawdeen. Both have really interesting and distinct face structures imo, and I'd be very interested in seeing you delve heavily into the atmospheres of ghosts and werewolves respectively. If it's an "in-general" point, with any monster high dolls at all with me having zero knowledge on availability or expenses but going off of "I haven't seen anyone do this" or "your interpretation might be really cool", these are the ones that I think could be really neat! - Cleo De Nile - Honey Swamp - Invisi Billy - Kjersti Trollson - Porter Geiss - River Styxx - Rochelle Goyle - Iris Clops - Jinafire Long - Kiyomi Haunterly - Luna Mothews - Wydowna Spider Out of these I think I've seen Cleo, Invisi Billy, River Styxx, and Porter Geiss customs but never any of the others. The face molds alone seem like they could be really cool to play with, but it could be awesome if you decided to just personalize your own interpretation of the characters. Thank you for sharing! You've become my favorite doll customizer at this point and I wish you a lot of joy in whatever project you take on next. ^^
The doll lools amazing! When I reroot with acrylic yarn I take single strands (not brushed out) and use a embroidery needle (uncut) and sew it in the head first, then I make a knot. I dont plug all the holes usually tbh. You can also do more diverse hairstyles imitating twists in doll scale. You can use a pet brush after putting some glue through the neck then straighten it too! :)
i love when you make dolls that are completely different from their original form, its so creative! but i admit, i also love the simplicity of this project too. It's almost like a fresh breath of air
GODDD i adore your use of highlights and softer shadows and blushing so so much!! it gives such a nice effect, and the microglitter only add to it. your eyes are always so stunning and full of life, im very partial to the way you do eyelashes - theyre delicate but stylized and i really enjoy the look of them
I love how realistic this revamp looks! It's almost like your custom was the original and the monster high doll was the fan merchandise for her. I felt it the most when u show the original doll and then transition to the photos of your custom at the end as my first thought was "wow so this is what she would look like if she were real" Love love love all the details that go into all of your dolls ❤❤❤
Everyone is talking abt the lips ye it was pretty purple but it looks very good how it ended too. Stop complaining and just appreciate all the hard work she does daily for us. (She doesn’t post daily obvs but she works daily that’s what I mean)
Me encanta la transformación que le hiciste, es que está incleible y en lo personal siento que este tono de realismo es "tenebroso" y también me encanta 💕 Muy buen trajo el acabado de lo mejor y buenos gustos también hay que decirlo ✨
This is so cool! When I originally saw the face I thought you’d put some actual metal bits in for the staples. The fact that they’re drawn on is so impressive
I love the idea of repainting dolls as their original characters- it’s fan art for the doll line. I’m another Frankie doubter, but your design is so sweet and spooky. Classic etellan. Fantastic details and lots of heart.
Hey I'm the first one. So excited for this repaint. I know its gonna be a good one. P.s. I love the purple lips. I think it ties the face together very well.
I totally feel you on shopping being a source of inspiration! I always like to wander through every section of the craft store, even the ones that seem totally irrelevant to my current project. I frequently come across things I never would have thought of using but that are perfect, or simply feeling inspired or reminded of things I have at home. There's a scrap exchange relatively near me that is perfect for this. They have half used art supplies, fabric scraps and upholstery samples, old jewelry, magazines, even hardware and a million other things. I can wander there for hours. Plenty of doll ideas have come to me while I'm wandering around one store or another.
I really love the way you do the eyes on your dolls, they are so life-like. I could imagine the dolls just slowly blinking. I love Frankie's re-vamp, she's beautiful!!
Ааа, все-таки, я обожаю такие вот реконструкции кукол. Они получаются в тысячу раз лучше, красивее и эффектнее изначальных вариантов. Просто произведение искусства!
Fantastic final result. Also Lore is an amazing podcast, one of my favourites. May I also suggest Cabinet of Curiosities and Unobscured both podcast also by Aaron Mahnke.
this turned out so beautiful, I would love to see this as a series as Lagoona and Clawdeen were my favorites from this line and seeing revamped "monsterized" version would be amazing.
to be fair, the red on the original faceup is a very cold red, so I can see how the interpretation would be purple!!! the repaint is absolutely stunning, though - I can never get over how you apply blushing and tones to the doll’s face. it’s just. chefs kiss.
Facial scars and markings in designs are so cool to me so it was really fun to see you add more to her! They looked so amazing too with the shading. And I very much prefer the purple instead of the red, not only keeping the cool tone the rest of the design has, it gives the feeling of a Frankie who's grown up and out of the red make-up, that maybe she wore to appear 'warmer' and more alive, and instead deciding to embrace her unique beauty, and it looks so stunning.
Honestly if that was my old Franky doll that you revamped I’d be so happy because I feel like seeing something that you loved so much be revamped in such a professional loving way would just be so pleasing
If I was asked if I wanted a Monster high original doll or a OOAK like this one ..Hands down this one. She’s absolutely stunning.I love her facepaint ,it’s really beautiful. Those eyes are so creepily haunting and the purple was the purple lips are perfects on her.I know you kept her same clothes but she still is so much more spectacular than the original. And her hair is so pretty now and suits her whole look .I really love what you have done to her.But your dolls are always so gorgeous 🥰
You know that character in shows that's sort of motherly and gives the protagonist advice and just generally feels calm and "ethereal"? That's what you feel like. You just give off the vibe
She turned out so angelic sweet and innocent, colours are lovely, lockdown sucks I stuck as well in Sydney god knows how long it will be. Keep safe. From Pandora box ❤️🥰❤️
i really like how the purple lipstick looks, it goes well with the other colours yet its so dark that it really pops compared to the pastel-ish skintone
You've made her look so pretty and elegant like you do with all your dolls ❤️ I have a thought that some dark purple gradient on her hand and legs would look fitting. Like it's necrosis or something. Purple lips added these undead vibes so you didn't go wrong there)
I’m in the blue mountains. Anxious in lockdown watching Glady update us everyday. I love watching these videos. As I wait for my novels to come. They save me from boredom as well as make me envious I don’t have such amazing talent! 🥲 Stay safe! 🤍
I really hope you do more of the gang they will look awesome all together all revamped. I love to see a different one from the more obvious choices though that be great. Xx
Hi Etellan! I love the concept and how she turned out! Your art style is always so whimsical and ethereal, and it's so satisfying to watch dolls come to life in this style. Just a small tip with the rerooting; try using smaller bundles of hair when you reroot, and it also helps to start from the back plugs and work your way around and up until you get to the part. Just some handy tips! I find it helps me anyway. Anyway, thank you for providing such quality content! It's helpful in the latest Melbourne lockdown. I hope you're surviving your lockdown well and it's not too frustrating!!!
"Oh well snip snip" I'm laughing So Hard She turned out amazing! I love the extended stitching lines, and the amount of detail you gave the staples. I really like her purple lips, they go well with the purple you did for the eyeshadow and the overall cool tones of the face.
i have such a special place in my heart for frankie. she was the first monster high doll i ever got as a child- the original first edition frankie. i think she was also the only first edition (or first wave? im not sure what its actually called) monster high doll i ever had. im sad that i donated her and all my other dolls as i got older, but i hope some other child was able to have as much fun with her as i did. i really enjoyed this somewhat nostalgic repaint, and im continuously impressed with your talent and style. the doll turned out beautiful
Hi, I just thought I should tell you that I was inspired by your videos and repainted my own doll! It's not nearly as good as yours, but it's great considering it was my first try!
This was such a cool and beautiful repaint of frankie. Its like a realistic version of frankie. If monster high was realistic and not so for children this would definitely be what she would look like ❤️
this is my favorite of your monster high series. the colors just go so well together and the mix of colors in frankie’s designs works really well with your style :)
I’m watching dolls repaint for years now and I’ve surprisingly never saw anybody repaint Monster High dolls but staying true to the original character but « better »! I LOVE this so much I’m looking forward for the rest of the pack 😁
Hello etellan! I know this video was such a long time ago but i wanted to express how much joy your videos give me. Feeling the nostalgia from seeing these dolls and being an artist myself I've been thinking about doll making as well. Hopefully in the future when im more financially stable i will be able to start my own business on doll making and drawings. Please continue this amazing journey you are so skilled!
Ooh my she looks gorgeous! Pretty good balance of creepy and beauty It looks more like rethinking of a character than just plain makeover, which makes it even better
I like the purple on the lips, actually I like the whole repaint, she looks etheral but also visibly undead, turned out great!
Ahh that's so kind of you to say! I really appreciate it!

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Lol but for real I get what ya mean
It makes her look more like a dead body that has been resurrected and has no heat inside them.
I think the purple shows a more unified color balanced because with all the greens, blues and purple already in the face red would look out of place.
I respect your fish
10:42 personally, I feel the purple for her lips looks better. It helps with the fact that a Frankenstein is basically a dead body brought back to life through electricity. i really like how the purple lipstick looks, it goes well with the other colours yet its so dark that it really pops compared to the pastel-ish skintone
HOLY CATS! The realism on the staples is outstanding! What an incredible repaint!
Stay safe! 🤍
your video was so calming, I almost drifted off. I felt so safe and warm
I love what you did with Frankie, it’d be so cool to see you try the whole series.
"Oh well snip snip" I'm laughing So Hard
She turned out amazing! I love the extended stitching lines, and the amount of detail you gave the staples. I really like her purple lips, they go well with the purple you did for the eyeshadow and the overall cool tones of the face.
Omggggg this was beautiful
It would be "clawesome" to revamp a laguna or clawdeen next :3
i have such a special place in my heart for frankie. she was the first monster high doll i ever got as a child- the original first edition frankie. i think she was also the only first edition (or first wave? im not sure what its actually called) monster high doll i ever had. im sad that i donated her and all my other dolls as i got older, but i hope some other child was able to have as much fun with her as i did. i really enjoyed this somewhat nostalgic repaint, and im continuously impressed with your talent and style. the doll turned out beautiful
Hi, I just thought I should tell you that I was inspired by your videos and repainted my own doll! It's not nearly as good as yours, but it's great considering it was my first try!
That's really cool!! I wanna do that too,, but I'm so afraid of failing ;u;
I absolutely love her revamp your style with the original looks of the monster high dolls is just perfect. her eyes are so pretty to look at
This was such a cool and beautiful repaint of frankie. Its like a realistic version of frankie. If monster high was realistic and not so for children this would definitely be what she would look like ❤️
The way you did the face, especially the eyes... Is breath taking!
I love this sm oml-- i would love to see you revamp Lagoona or Ghoulia, youd make em look hella cool
this is my favorite of your monster high series. the colors just go so well together and the mix of colors in frankie’s designs works really well with your style :)
Frankie Stein was my first monster high doll so I was excited to see what you'd do.
OH MY GOD, you did her justice. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!🖤🤍🖤🤍
This revamp was so perfect and beautiful, I can't get enough of your customizations, so gorgeous 😍❤😍❤😍❤
i'm speechless... she is so beautiful! what a wonderful art piece!
I want to do a Frankie, with different colored human body parts- she’s pieces of diffrent body’s sewn together- I love what you did for her
You need to do the rest of the squad pls❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍
I really love the purple on the lips, goes better with her overall design
By far one of my favorite, the eyes are so soft and beautiful, you really nailed her expression !!
This has to be my favorite doll remake ever!! I want to do a makeup look inspired by this 😭💗
I LOVE this doll! Every detail is perfection! I love how you did this in your own style, but it still looks like her original design. Stunning! 😊
That's beautiful! I can't wait to see the others. Just like many in the comments I think that purple for the lips is even better as red.
your voice is so calming and your work is amazing and your teaching/guiding skills too
Please do more. This was such a charming adventure
Could you re”vamp” Draculora? She was always my favorite as a kid and I love how you do your dolls!
oh man she's breathtaking! i'm so glad this Frankie worked out for you, she's actually one of my favorites from the Monster High range
Ooh my she looks gorgeous!
Pretty good balance of creepy and beauty
It looks more like rethinking of a character than just plain makeover, which makes it even better
She looks much better after your repaint. She's absolutely gorgeous 🖤🖤🖤🖤
I can't express how much I love your videos, doll making is art but the videos are an art themselves. So relaxing and beautiful 💜
