Wow, haven't thought about Trading Spaces in years. Brings back good memories. I loved Vern! At least he listened to the homeowners and tried to give them what they wanted.
The old commercials were awesome but the boys room was cool and i agree giving a neutral background for everything else to stand out int he forefront. Both rooms looked great.
The soccer boy's parents are so lucky they weren't on Vern's team. The soccer room looks amazing, and considering their only had $1000 budget and the room did not look cheap at all was very impressive. This kind of project really tests the designer's ability.
Oh my gosh. One of the commercials during the episode was for the old Windows On the World Restaurant at the top of the World Trade Center in NYC. It was filmed in 2001, too. Very eerie and sad.
I googled the guy in the commercial after reading these comments. He survived 9/11 because he went down into the lobby to get his glasses repaired. Just as he was heading back up to the restaurant, the first plane crashed into the tower. I can't imagine how that must have felt.
There is an episode I remember, the linoleum (or whatever it was) had just been pulled off the floor, and the hostess walked across it, stepping out of her flip flop. She asked what it was she stepped in, and the woman peeling the flooring up said it was glue. I believe the hostess in this episode was Paige. Could anyone tells me which episode it was?
@@karenanderson5105 ah thanks!! different sources mislead me lol. Can you speak to how the rooms aged? what changes were made or did they stay the same?
+DTFenn my mom has a bunch of these on vhs.. this host (alex) was the original host for the first couple of seasons.. there were also a couple of designers during this time that only made one appearance (never appearing on the show again).
I loved that show when it first ran and I knew very little about home renovations. Now I think it should have been named “How to waste 2 days and $1000” … the craftsmanship is cringeworthy… open flame inches from fabric and a nice tabletop, paint cans spilling over floors….. black fabric in a kids’ room….

THE NEW SEASON PREMIERES THIS SATURDAY!! THEY BROUGHT IT BACK
I always loved this to designers but especially vern
I really enjoyed seeing the ild commercials again. ❤
The "Windows on the World" commercial caught me off guard. So happy the chef featured made it. He was in the lobby at the time of the attack.
This is just fun to watch to see the commercials. Oh how technology has changed!
That soccer room is amazing! I remember watching this way back then and am still so impressed!
That was super cute when she said “I found my stud!”
Genevive was always my favorite designer!
Cool! Watching this now brings back memories of watching with my ma:)

Not eerie at all. Don't be so dramatic
Nostalgia...

I don’t remember that host I guess she was the host before Paige Davis was the host?
Yes,. Alex McLeod was the host for the first 40 episodes. She was great!
I loved this show so much.
OMG! Genevieve's room looked like crap! The lady homeowner was actually trying not to cry.
01denese idk it depends on you tastes. I'm very into the 60s and I thought it looked okay.
60's room people thinking "wish we had Vern"!
Aida not Ahmad: I LOVE VERN YIP'S STYLE !

George Costanza was a hell of an Architect
I was born in Feb of 2001 and to watch makes me realize that this was such a different time. ahh

The kid said he liked soccer, not that he wanted to live in one!
This was filmed in 99"-00" btw. season 2 was 2001
It was filmed in March of 2001

I miss junkyard wars.
Genevive seems so obviously high through out the whole episode lol
You all need to work on the volume on this video because it is to low
he had goku action figure on desk
those s/s button down shirts rarely looked well.....
A squeegee works great cleaning up large paint spills...
Forgot to mention, you squeegee the paint into a dust pan and pour it into the lined trash can. Been there! LOL
IMChrysalis I love you
:-)
Where did you find these episodes?
It was our house.
@@karenanderson5105 hi! can you comment on the experience and how long you kept the style of the room? thanks!
Vern sounds like Ted on HIMYM
This shows hilarious lmfao
I don't remember this host.
DTFenn I think she was the first host. She was just before Paige Davis.
