I was SO addicted to this show when it came out, but haven't seen it for years! What a great episode: no tension, everyone joyously worked together like pros, and the homeowners were delightful people.
😅 The wall color choices, the seeming avoidance of direct requests, uncomfortably watching reactions throughout the process as they bring things into their friends house AND at their own homes... very hard to get through many years later.
The thing that always drove me crazy about this show was the designers didn't always do what the homeowner wanted if it didnt fit with their design idea that they came up with before they even met the homeowners. The designers need to take into consideration they aren't designing these rooms to have them photographed for a magazine!...Its about giving the homeowner a nice room they will enjoy!
I agree. The one thing that stood out to me about Lenas room and what she wanted for it was the color red. She stressed how much she loves red and where was the red? A pale shade in the bench and on the blinds for the 2 windows. That isn't what she asked for at all and I honestly don't think she liked that room as much as she said. Her reaction and her face said something different than her words. It was a nice room afterwards..but not what she asked for.
I also thought immediately that the producers had them avoid sharing that they were a couple and almost stopped watching the episode. It's good that it was cleared up that they were indeed roommates.
That brown wood ceiling with those mud-cololoured walls and large wood closet doors is all wrong because it makes the room look smaller and like a cave White ceiling and painted closet doors would lighten the room. However, it's miles better than what was there before. (I do have a degree in interior design and fashion design)
They actually WERE roommates. Lena's partner couldn't do the show, so her other roommate who lived in the basement, Kristin, was available to do the show.
Spencer Williams Oh, good! I thought the producers of Trading Spaces told them to pretend, or something. I feel better now. Thanks for clearing that up. Hope you had fun on the show! :-)
Spencer Williams thank you for sharing that information. I am glad to know that no one had to hide anything. It is always liberating to just be yourself 😊
Just some advice: People tend not to take your opinions too seriously when you make hurtful statements. No matter what you believe, you need to share it with love.
of the two rooms I like the first reveal better. It had just enough detail to make it elegant without being overwhelming. The second one was a bit too plain and there was too much brown. Its nice, but it could do with a bit more color and texture.
Ugh... it's like they get paint that was free or extremely cheap because those colors are hideous. I mean, unless you really want your room to look like someone ate bad tacobell and used your room as a bathroom. That diarrhea tone really makes the accent colors ''pop'' out.

yes! thanks for uploading!!!!
and they where roommates
Wants red. Doesn't want flowers.
Gets orange and florals.
Why were Lena and Kristin pretending to be roomates? So sad that they felt the need to hide :-(

Amanda Huculak I completely agree. It is a shame that people feel that they need to hide their true selves.
Spencer Williams thank you for sharing that information. I am glad to know that no one had to hide anything. It is always liberating to just be yourself 😊
Amanda Huculak excalty clearly there dating. LOL
Great ideas but I think they use hot glue for way too many things and hot glue isnt that great of a holder
Jacqueline Castrillo SAME
Aren't you supposed to prime the walls first and then paint over with color?

Spencer, I gotta know, how long did it take until you guys redid your room?

I shouldn't laugh but it's so funny when they say they hate something and that's what the designer does!!!😂😂
"roomates"? seems legit.
Laurie could have trimmed that table a little bit more (6 in) and still given them a vanity.
Yiiiikes! Laurie, don't put flowers in Kristen's room! I don't really seeing her enjoying them.
Keep the carpet away from those two!
roommates..?

I can't wait for the trading spaces reboot starting in April. The design shows on now are getting boring
All that muddy brown on the walls, wood ceiling and closets. Yuck
