Why, in this voluntary membership , melting pot country, are still people believing you cannot defend themselves? Because of career politicians that are continually re-elected, because voluntary citizens love subsidies( other peoples tax money)! Fine patriots hate gvt., but, need the “ free” gvt money( vote buying) , so they can bitch about the victim life. Sounds like some need their membership revoked
@@Noone-rt6pw Laughlin was never a blackbelt and only studied for about 6 months before making the movies. All the major fighting scenes were done by his instructor Han Bong-Soo.
I enjoyed this documentary but I think it underestimates Billy Jack's impact on the world. The movie Billy Jack was hard hitting and well received by millions of people who suddenly found a story about a hero standing up against racism and bigotry of the times. The movie itself was well received by martial artists in general. At the time, there were two martial art heroes: Bruce Lee and Billy Jack. Billy Jack not only fought for the people he fought for himself by trying to dig deeper into the spiritual roots of Native American shamanism and medicine. Billy Jack was always my hero growing up. He always tried to do what's right and, even when things were going against him, he found the courage to face things.
Hi there! The person who made this video is just transcribing Laughlin's Wikipedia entry, almost verbatim. And as for Laughlin's "sad ending"? He lived to be 82 years old. He made three iconic films, possibly four (The Master Gunfighter). And ten years after his death, people are still interested in his work. There's nothing sad about that.
It's sad to know that Tom Laughlin aka Billy Jack has been gone this long. Even though I was just a young pup when I watched Billy Jack and the rest of these movies I have always had strong feelings for my brother's the natives of this great nation.
Those movies touched me as a young boy and had a profound effect on me, and molding me into the man I am today at 61 yrs young. Thank you Billy Jack/ Tom Laughlin
Tom and his character Billy Jack magnetized me to his movie of the same name during the early 70's which appeared on tv. I was glued to the tv set and enjoyed his character and the storyline. It was the realism of the fighting and the purpose of his character Billy Jack which I could relate to. He was a hero who defended the weak and stood for justice. I couldn't wait for it to show on tv.
Tom Laughlin was a pioneer for martial arts, along with the incredible Bruce Lee. Billy Jack was an amazing and empathetic figure. Sure miss him and his filmmaking.
Tom Laughlin was really out to represent the oppressed and underserved in society. I think he was a true American hero who never got the recognition he deserved.
I resent the fact that you call Billy Jack a comedy. Saw the movie in a full theater and never before had witnessed movie goers yelling at the screen.." Get him Billy". Loved it do much I bought the movie on DVD.
I heard about Tom Laughlin before Billy Jack movies only because he went to the same high school as I did years after he did and the drama club was big on him and Gene Wilder...Years later when Billy Jack came out we were all proud of him.
Loved the Billy Jack character and Tom Laughlin has always been one of my idols. In the movie Billy Jack, he kicks the head honcho, town bad guy bossman in the side of the face. I had never seen that kick before and I had been doing different Martial Arts since early childhood. I learned that the kick was called a inside crescent kick. I had to learn that kick. I practiced that kick for 2 hours every day for many months, probably a year at least. Until I was able to execute that kick perfectly. It was very effective. I wish Billy Jack number five had been completed. It always seemed like he had so much against him trying to release his films. Really miss his character in films, he was one cool guy.
I remember that famous scene when i was a kid and it was repeated by every young person at the time when talking about billyjack - "I'm gonna take the left side of my left foot and put it against the right side of your face.... and there's not a gd thing that you can do about it", ....WHAPP!!!
Loved Billy Jack I was never trained in martial arts but I was born with the ability of the arts still work out at the age of 70 still fast as heck don't know why luv all who has the ability to do it Chuck Norris is the best
I really enjoyed the 'Billy Jack' movies. They were cool and as those of us who have seen them we all enjoyed seeing bullies getting their butts handed to them
I didn't know about the Montessori School part of Tom and Delores' career. I will say the Montessori methodology is the best of all early childhood educational systems around and those two dropping everything to ensure their child had the best education they could give her and in the process build a large and thriving school for the wonderful education of other children makes these two truly successful. Ask any mother what she is most proud of - a brilliant career or the daughter that she raised.
His film Billy Jack brought Hapkido to the United States. His double in the big courthouse fight scene was Bon Soo Han. The first time we saw that martial art. I suspect that film had a bigger impact on people taking martial arts than Bruce Lee. That film exploded into our culture
The first time I actually saw Billy Jack movie i was in the Marines. We went out in town that Saturday afternoon. Ever since that movie I’ve been a Billy Jack fan.
One truth Laughlin never dealt with on film was the fact that communist Ho Chi Minh committed mass-murder on landlords in North Vietnam in the 1950s. Even Ken Burns wrote of this in his book on Vietnm.
Billy Jack was my first action hero. I was only 5 years old when I first went to the theatre to see his movie . I do not remember much about the movie but for the “ I’m gonna kick your head on that side with this foot “ kick .

My dad took our family to see The Born Losers at the local Drive In, when I was about 10 years old, back in the early 70's. He liked motorcycles, and had no idea how raunchy the film was. My mom started screaming at him to start the car and leave, after the first nudity/rape scene. Me and my little brother had got an eye full, and were laughing hysterically. My Dad was in the doghouse for quite awhile after that.😂

FYI: The park fighting scene in Billy Jack was actually Tom's martial arts teacher, who also played several cameos in his films. One in which he played an instructor at the school. In the movie Tom is knocked off his feet with a leg sweep and hurt himself. I believe he broke a rib or two !

What is so sad is that Tom Laughlin and the Billy Jack character are unknown to our current American generation !
It is also sad that they have no idea how native Americans were treated less than 50 years ago.
The snowflakes today would probably try to cancel him somehow.
Long live Jack I grew up watching all the movies over and over again even though it's ahead of my time a decade are so
