I love his movies, his message and spirituality. He inspired me When I was younger to always do the right thing and stand my ground. I've always felt like the protector of those that others bullied in school and all through my adult life. I say it like I see it and don't care if someone can't handle the truth. I hunted for years to find his movies and now I have all of them. Thank you for all you did for everyone, Sir. We need more people like you in this World. RIP Tom Laughlin

Understandable except for one thing; The law is not a person. It is a statute, and a principle. It is enforced by men, and sometimes bad men, but that does not give us a right to break the law. BLM is a perfect example of a people that have been hoodwinked into believing that anarchy is the answer. If we divide then we will fall. Civil war is like a man slicing his own throat. God has all the answers. Seek, and pray for your country. The Love of Christ JESUS is our answer.

My grandma tells the story of me, at age 5, insisting that she take me to the drive-in to see "the trial of it"...I had seen & been mesmerized by the original Billy Jack at just 2 or 3 years old. I have seen it more times than I can count, I can speak every line. I have said so many times that Billy Jack was ahead of its time - the morality, the spirituality...etc...it still makes my heart long for all of those qualities in this present day and age. Thank you Tom Laughlin.

My grandmother owned a Theatre and Drive-In in a small town in North Dakota. I was visiting her for the summer and watched the original Billy Jack 13 times! I have that number indelibly in my head. I was nine years old. I likewise new every line by heart. This movie had such a profound impact on me. Billy Jack is one of my favorite heros. His use of martial arts reflected the proper use of it, for a "just" purpose. The stories were about morality, something lacking in today's films! As Tuckle said, Billy Jack films need to be required viewing in schools to teach youth about honor, justice, and living a meaningful life!!!

I have to say he had the "look". The "magic eye." What's the look? It was in his eyes, "don't f--- with me or pay for it dearly." I also don't think you can say it's purely propaganda, because it explores the complexities of life, i.e., it's great to say you're for peace, but violence is sometimes necessary to combat evil. Another example is when the deputy's runaway daughter is returned to him, only to be slapped down by him. It's easy to say runaways should be returned, but what if they ran away for a reason? Runaway kids was a big issue in that day of the "generation gap," which was a very real thing then.

But I do remember walking into the theater back in the day when theaters and screens were big and they let you in before the previous showing ended and I got to watch the end starting where Billy and the girl are in a shed during the final shoot out and there was something about the sound and the image that had such a sense of bigger than life immediacy.

Your comments are very well said--and I agree with you 100%. I'm fairly new to the Billy Jack movies, but what I get from them is that they seem very real. People don't really behave the way we see them acting in movies--people aren't that perfect OR that dramatic, with every line uttered a pre-conceived thought, and every action something that would look good to the camera. It's not standard Hollywood fare--but that's what's appealing about it. The people are believable b/c they're just people.

Gotta disagree. I was a teenager when this came out, and this movie captures the attitudes of the hippie subculture and the tensions it caused in society better than any other movie. Obviously it's a low budget movie, but that gives it a documentary feel that fits the movie's topic and setting. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, but it clearly struck a chord with many people, or it wouldn't have found such a huge audience and still speak to people today.

The sixties were a time of profound change that has been passed down to many succeeding generations, each more personally invested in the ideas of living not just for yourself but also to in some way to pay greater attention to the needs of this planet and it's inhabitants.

No get real Ted..he lived a full life of 82, that wasn't too soon. Now an age in the 20's through 40's, ok now that would be young. You and others that say that BS, talk as if we humans live a few hundred years. ( 125- 200+)
I talk to old people in their 70'-80s, my age of 60, and they go, " oh your still a young pup, WTF.. your telling me that 70+ to whatever is old, but 60 is young.. considering that most senior people die between 70- 85. So basically I have another 10-25 years to go before im old and dwindle to forgetness..but as for now Im young.. lol.. you people crack me up!

Well, one aspect is unique, at least I've never seen any other movie featuring such a thing, and that is Delores Taylor's utterly deadpan, emotionless delivery. Quite honestly, I still, to this day, am not quite sure whether or not her performance was intentionally as bad as it was, thinking perhaps she was playing it for laughs.
    Her performance was truly memorable.

      Me too.
I think I saw it in 71 at the drive in along with the Legend of Boggy Creek as the second feature.
Road Runner cartoons and that crunchy dry boxed popcorn and hot dogs in foil.
I was studying karate at the time so it connected. My son was a toddler in the car. Now he's middle aged..
      What's that make me? :-)

Watching clips of the Billy Jack movies on this day of his death 7 years ago. I saw the original when I was about 14, the age of kids in the film. It made an impression on me of how wrong bullying is. I see that message being taken up now by kids of that age in Gen Z. Hope some of them discover his movies.

The greatness of these films, like Capra movies(which had much higher production quality admittedly) was that they made you feel good about yourself and about people. You walked out of that theatre feeling like somehow everything would ultimately be OK. They came out right when Hollywood really started turning cynical and at heart people dont want cynicism. They want Capra, Indiana Jones, Billy Jack, and Jimmy Stewart. Thats why such movies do so well.

I love Billy Jack. But don't overthink it. The film reflected a profound moment of history so clearly and so completely that it felt to a generation like listening to one's own thoughts. That doesn't happen too often. But when it does, it's impossible to replicate. No matter how much money you raise.

These movies were courageous, and had great morals and ethics. Talk about bravery. How to be a good man and woman.
