I just discovered John Butler on RUclips last night via asmr but found myself wide awake listening to his wisdom.... and I've been listening to him all day feeling so peaceful and calm. I'm a forever fan now. And John, I have always felt like I didn't seem to belong with people either. I've learned how to be okay alone, but from time to time, it still makes me wonder, until I heard you talk about it. Thank you for all the wisdom you share. Your like watching a crackling fire, consuming my attention and warming me from the outside in, covering me in comfort and peace.
One of my favourite quotes by him... Which I just randomly heard but listened to it so often by now, I can say it by heart:
"What is the purpose of it? Well, if I was to ask you, what you really really want, deep down in your heart, more than anything else in life... I wonder what you'd answer.
...
And not everybody gives the same answer of course. But if you just bear in mind, what that answer would be for YOU...- It might point you in the right direction."

i think its virtually impossible, to contribute hateful comments on here. the most negative thing i've noticed is the "we need more and longer and why doesnt john fulfill my ego desires" and such, and the usual quibblequarrel from those who post christian comments and those who need to tell them they're dumb because jesus and god are fairytales. but i guess, we can live with those. we all are here to learn.

His voice so soothing helps me fall asleep and yet his wisdom keeps me wide awake.
Perhaps Nature will resolve the awake/asleep dilemma, by having you lying there with one eye closed and the other one open!
My grandparents owned a farm on the outskirts of a small town in mexico. I remember visiting them as a kid and always staying up late with my grandad. We would always sit In the patio in complete darkness, staring out into the crops and fire flies. He use to tell the best stories of his childhood. Just like you. Felt as if I was there with him. Things I would never forget (How dark it got, how quiet it was, how fresh the air was, how bright the moon was, the amount of stars there were and the smell of whiskey fumes coming from my grand pops lol) sending you love from Losing Angeles and thank you for these videos 😊

When he said: "feet on the GROOUUUND"
I felt that.
I CALM down the moment I listen to him. Goosebumps.... his voice touches the very essence of one's soul. Simply watching him being so comfortably quiet and serene puts my mind at ease. That monkey mind stops and I smile, as if everything makes sense now. Just wondering what it would feel like to sit in his presence, when he is quiet. This way he seems more empowering. Yes I am a look at the sky, sun, moon, star person and now it's him.😌Look at those eyes. As if they can see the stillness beyond this Universe.
Just want to say that I really appreciate your unique presence in this world. Although we haven't met, I feel like you know me and that I know you too. All the best ❤

I put his videos on while I'm driving in my car. I just let them play and I just listen to his soft voice in the background whether I understand everything or not -because I'm paying attention to the traffic - it just calms me and soothes me right there in the middle of the day. I actually feel safer when driving in thisstrange world today of cellphones and texting you never know what people are doing and I just feel safer with his voice in the background.
The source, the oneness,the indescribable....thats where John helps you to. Its our natural state and where we find peace. As John says we have all fallen from grace as a people and need to connect back and dwell in this place of total love and peace. Only there will humanity find true eternal happiness
Schubert’s music is among the most radiant and divine in existence. Hearing his 3rd Impromptu at the opening of each of these wonderful videos is it’s own mantra…a peaceful reminder of the spirit that connects us through time and space. Thank you for sharing.

I love how my attention is starting to move into my body automatically whenever I'm still. I feel such a nice feeling grow inside sometimes. & the peace of just listening and feeling the inside of my body... I'm in love!!!
I treated my body badly for many years. Never paying attention to it or the poor treatment i was giving it. Having awakened and become so self aware so much recently has been a beautiful experience, but my newfound awareness brings me fear that i have damaged this body beyind repair. Although, i do take comfort in knowing that it is just a vessel, and being aware now gives me the chance to make a better future for myself.

God bless you John. I have been watching these videos for some time now. I feel compelled to let you know how grateful I am for the insight and message you share with others. I was raised in the Anglican church in Canada but like so many of my generation who have been raised in secular and capitalist society I was led astray from the church. For a long time I identified as agnostic... not wanting to address the subject of belief. The great love you share with others in you videos has led me back to God and for that I thank you.

Dear my! I have been diagnoest with complex PTSD just none going from childhood. And when I can finally relax my mind it is filled with bad memories and fear. I’m a prisoner of my own mind and Im afraid of it!
Years of depression for me, in my 30s, same as John and his Mother, and I also woke up one day and it was gone. 15 years ago. I fought it for years...when I stopped fighting and let go, it left. So hard to do in the midst of it but the more you fight it, the more power it it gains...is the only way I can explain it. And that doesn't help anyone in the midst of it because you feel like you must fight against it.

You suggest that man is a sinner. Are you also acknowledging that our spirit, which is who we really are is divine. We discard the body eventually. We are living in it for a short while. If we tune into spirit through stillness/ meditation then we transcend the “sinful” body. Is the aim to integrate the “sinful” body with the divine spirit until we realise that what we really are is pure love. The main thing we can do for this “ sinful” body is honour it and look after it as best we can. Thank you for food for thought. As you say, beyond intellectual understanding.
