Knox Hill does fantastic breakdowns of videos. His breakdown of Bad Blood is superb; his knowledge of rap flow and the history behind some of the stuff Kendrick Lamar raps about was FANTASTIC and I wouldn't have caught any of it (not the least of which because there are acronyms in there I didn't understand)! He's less of a swiftie and more of a rap and lyric analyst but that one in particular is so great, so I wanted to mention it even just for your own edification (cause a swiftie would be able to tell you each of the many guest stars in there, and he doesn't catch them all).

honestly! Like, I know a lot of queer people who felt like it was kind of diminishing how harsh and harmful homophobia can be but I think the point was to give us all a moment to say "you are tiny and insignificant ultimately, and I am amazing no matter what you say", like. This wasn't really meant to be an activism song it was meant to be a celebration song. And I love it for that.

Okay, YNTCD. There’s a lot you should know. The BIG thing, IMO, is that Taylor released this song on the first record of her new contract, where people could no longer tell her that her political views wouldn’t sell songs. But after Todrick Hall, the man she dips when singing “hate never made anyone less gay” and one of her BFFs for a long time, asked her how she felt about gay rights, she felt awful because she thought her friends knew. But they pointed out she never really SAID anything - and that was from her management and label pressuring her to stay quiet. (You’ll see some of this on Miss Americana.) This song was her reply: showing she’s not afraid to surround herself with queer friends, or to support queer rights. (Some people take this as a code she’s queer herself, but she has said repeatedly that no, it just took her a long time to realize she could advocate for a group she is not a part of. Hence the appeal at the end of the video.)
And okay, there are a LOT of cameos in this MV, and you definitely should react to the behind the scenes - remember, Taylor puts one up for every video! I think you should at least plan on reacting to every Taylor’s behind the scenes per MV; you’ll get another 5-10 minutes of content per video. And then there are the added breakdown videos, that will give you Easter Egg clues. Because this was one of the first MVs off the Lover album, there are a lot of Easter Eggs about the album, like Hayley Kiyoko shooting an arrow into the number 5 (Lover’s 5th track is The Archer), or Adam Lambert tattooing Ellen with “Cruel Summer,” another song title. A few other things: her bit about sending cop-out tweets at 7am was a response to Trump angry-tweeting her; when she sings “you should be glad” it’s spelled GLAAD for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation; Ryan is a good friend, and married to one of her BFFs, Blake Lively; Ryan is painting a scene of the Stonewall riots, which are incredibly important in the history of queer civil rights in America.

I think you were probably singing to The Man, and misremembering a few lyrics? As for …Ready for It, yeah, given your like of anime, I knew you were gonna like this one. Her MV with Future and Ed Sheeran, End Game, has similar vibes I think you’ll dig. The theme of …Ready for It has largely been speculated to be Old Taylor, dark and worn by the world, coming to train New Taylor for what she’s going to face, and when she asks “ready for it?” New Taylor is released to the world. (Some folks also think that the things New Taylor turns into represent her previous albums.) Remember: the Old Taylor is dead.
At the end of the video, when New Taylor is walking up the stairs, the words “they’re burning all the witches” is sprayed in graffiti on the stairs, alluding to I Did Something Bad, but also imagery picked up again in her folklore and evermore albums.
As much as I would love all the Tay content at once, I think spreading it out is the best idea. Keep Tuesdays for songs etc. and Fridays can be for the longer content videos like Eras, Miss Americana, Rep Tour, Grammy Museum etc.

I agree with you Luke, "Ready For It" is my favourite Taylor song and video as well. I love the contrast between the almost rapped verses and the light, sweet chorus, suggesting her days are hectic and night time is when she can find peace. The visuals of cyborg Taylor floating surrounded by the blue orbs and then the ending with her breaking the glass are just epic and cinematic.

I heard a reactor the other day say that he dismissed Taylor as a young girl that sang sweet Disney songs and that he could not have been more wrong. For "ready for i" mv...w/o going into all of the symbolism and fan theories regarding it, the main thing to know is that this song begins her reputation era. She was coming back after disappearing due to the kim/Kanye devastation that she felt almost ruined her. I see this video as her battle to reconstruct herself, with different possibilities fighting each other.
