I ran something similar to this and won a store championship. I had demo glad on the far left, isd in the middle, and the vsd as the hinge. Lastly I had an arquitens starting at the hinge position run across the long edge of map to add a cross fire while my main fleet acted as a door slamming closed on the opposing fleet. I ran everything max speed to get engaged quickly because this build left me with no points for squads. My build was inspired by this video.
I appreciate this videos a lot! I've been very interested in starting armada, specificly as an Imperial player. This helps me be more effective with less buys. How about, "Star Wars - Armada: Strike Formations, Navigation and Strategy" Youre doing an amazing job explaining really (I think you mentioned you are a teacher). Something else that would be great is to show suadron formations that go along with ship formations and maybe some specific squadrons that could fill different gaps in that regard. Thanks for the content!
Watching your vids are different you show visually what things can do sometimes explaining cards upgrades ships don’t help actually seeing a visual helps ok in few years late but I hope you do more 👍
I've watched this video a few times because I like this formation. Having the Raider as your trailer ship w/ Kallus/counter 1 and flechette torpedoes will serve well against the "Sloane/Squadron" die to the wave 6 ILC Squadron heavy lists.
Great video. Very clear. Suggested names for your series: "Rookie to Admiral Series Episode [X]: [Subject], " "Armada Beginners Tutorial", etc. The content is strong though! One other thing is to maybe suggest a few cards that create better synergy for this strategy or suggest a full sample list using some earlier wave cards.
Nice video. As someone who plays neither regularly nor competitively, I'm surprised that serious players don't use the the area between the short edges and the deployment zone. I use that space a lot myself. Not usually with an ISD running up the board like that, though.
JD Robertson It does happen, just not usually. It is most players' natural tendency once they understand maneuvering to prefer the more open spaces in the middle, as you have more options with what you can do with your ships where it is easier to avoid scary arcs. The tactic here of herding works, but you need to be sure you can make the other player pay for it if they go for either end of the closing door. For instance, the 'rebel swirl' is a gunline that puts this echelon formation in a constant tailchase where you can never really bring your ships to bear properly.
As an Imperial player, I would love to see more strategy videos focused on strategies that the Empire benefits the most from. Especially since they don't benefit from capping the T or gunlines.
Nice! Way to take advantage of the field restrictions. This could be very rough depending on some objectives. Superior positions, Hyperspace Assault, etc. In any token grab, you are sacrificing a lot of easy points running with your faster ships so limited. In any s All in all though, it has good coverage. Do you have any other videos discussing objective approaches?
What are your thoughts on Raddus as a counter to this formation? If Raddus brings in a strong ship of the outside flank it looks like the Echelon will fall apart.
What do you think about placing the ISD in the middle? At the far end, the rebels will focus on the weaker ships in the opposite end, possibly getting a points victory if the game goes to the 6th rounds.
As someone that's just getting into Armada (and starting in the Imperial side of things), this is a great video on tactics. Keep up the great work.

Nice video! There are many videos focussed on discussing ships and upgrades but fewer on strategy which matters more in this game. Thanks!

These are absolutely great! Please, please make more!

Great formation, I mostly always start in a corner with a close formation but I've never thought of something like this
Very interesting, I enjoy learning new tactics and formations. There are almost too many options to choose from
"Fleet Formations: Tactics and Command, Armada." Great videos Schmity, my next game I'll try the refused flank and let you know how it goes.

I will try to add some example fleets that work with those tactics on my blog. Thanks for the feedback!

I need that sweater, is there an imperial version of it outthere in the galaxy?
Nice One

My next video should be more Empire focused.
Thx for the video.
I love the jumper (and the video, naturally), where'd you get it?
When it comes to speed, do you slow down in the turn or do you keep the 3 for ISD, 2 for VSD ship and 1 for the Gladiator?

I'm having difficulty understanding command dials and command tokens.
How can I get access to your other videos? This was very helpful!
I only have 2 out and I'm uploading a 3rd now. Subscribe to this channel or my blog and you will see them all. Glad it was helpful.
This is great! Do you run the star destroyers without upgrades? Not much room for squadrons with them taking so many points.
any formations with the interdictor

That's a good thought too. I like the ISD in the front as my opponent will avoid it in predictable ways.
🌟💜❗
can you do the herding with star destroyers
That will probably be my next video.
