These aira synths really are amazing
This is awesome! I always wanted the originals but they were way to expensive, now I can afford to play. WooHoo!!!!
This is what we have been waiting for. Hats off to you guys at roland. Awesome.
I don't know much about electronic music, but this video explains the basics very well. Nice work!
I got the system-8, saving for the TR-8S, then I want the TB-303. I wish I understood if the 707 and the other stuff worked with it or if those are stand alone seperate from a complete Aira setup.
Hello all, looking into buying a sythn, really impressed with the equipment but can't afford it all, would I be able to combine the TR-8 with say a Novation Bass Station? And would this require a dedicated Audio Interface or could I feed it into my laptop? Thanks!
Took the plunge and it's a cool set up for sure. Great for anything really. I have tons of analog gear, soft synth and digital gear like this. Yea it's digital, so is the entire planet's playback devices. It's time producers wake up ad realize "if it sounds good, it is good" means even more now than it did 10 years ago. I'd like to see you AB the TR-8 and 808 blindfolded. You'd fail. Especially if you don't own incredible playback equipment and chances are you got some cheap ass KRK's or novelty fashion headphones (I'm looking at you beats). Like ALL GEAR it is as cool as you are. It is as creative as you are. What a creative professional should ask them self is, is this flexible? The answer to the System 1 is YES. It's very cool. Physical keys are a disaster (c'mon Roland wtf) but it's a great unit overall. Filters, envelopes, Oscillators and effects are awesome on this unit, after all, it's Roland, the guys who brought us Junos, Jupiters, 808, 909, sh-101... say no more. I like this better than the Microbrute and Dave Smith stuff in this price range IMHO.
how did you plug it all in?
how did he get 4 BassDrum choice ?? I only got 3 on my TR8
Sounding and looking good. However, not sure about the "Special Edition HairFlick-404 (Red Edition)" Is that also a reboot from the 80's?
I want them all. Now. And i'm gonna set them up just like that.
Me too. Then I'm gonna piss all over them. Shitty snare. Money for nothing and bullshite for free. Too expensive for childrens' toys. Yet to cheap 'for pristine smooth equipment' as he says.
4k for an 808 and 4k for a 909 that both need to be calibrated and serviced is what I'd piss on. In 2017, ACB, high quality sample rates and digital playback devices all point to gear like this for EDM to be a no brainer. You can keep your $50,000 Moog System 55 and your analog purity and give me a $500 System 1 and I'll make gold records like Will Ferrell. While everyone's arguing over analog vs digital in, the rest of us are making music on whatever we can afford.
I needed a new synth because I lost my recording/mixing engineer job. I have a studio set up mainly for vocal recording and mixing instrumentals, etc. I decided to make my own music again for my sanity. Impulse bought a System-8 and love how weird it can sound. Now I'm addicted, saving for a TR-8S. Then TB-303. Then VT-3. YEEEEE. This is one of the coolest things roland done. have you also looked at their AIRA modules like the ultra distortion Torcido and Bitrazer? They have 4 external module effects that can fit in one package. Im so sold. Im conviced in 10 years this will be a classic combo
All of these are very lovely, and honestly this coming from somebody who pretty much only uses Midi and software, analogue, hardware synth is always nicer faster and more reliable. It's just very expensive and limited in terms of sounds/effects. If I could afford it though, I would get it beside my midi/software gear.
rad!
how are you plug it together?
There's no way on earth korg can compete with these, not a chance.
wonderfullllllll
I hate when dj's touch sliders but don't actually move them lol.
i think its cool and will test them and get them even if not analog
the guy doing the demonstration reminds me of a kid that was in the Better Living Through Circuitry documentary
The thing about analog purists is that they want an instrument. No two 808's or 909's sounds the same, just the same way no two Fender Stratocasters sound the same. Now, if you're looking for high quality, affordable, and official access to use and control these sounds, this thing is for you, But if you're looking for an instrument, you're better off looking somewhere else, you aren't getting it with Roland as of late.
why green lights
Sound good to me, but way too much bright green light - surely they could have added a few more colours without significantly increasing costs?
why have roland not make a switch for green red or blue light that cost you money mr roland
for nearly two months I've both tr8 and tb3, spent like 800$ and to be honest. Tr8 is an awesome machine! So much fun, so much depth, so much use. Tb3 on the other hand is just a toy. Fun for a little bit but you'll better off making a your authentic bass lines off your synth, the sound is to uniformed and generic. But that's not to stop you form getting a tb3
I meant tb8! Get the tb8
No pitchbender or modulation on the keyboard WHY ?
I'd recommend then the System 1M rack module and slave it to a controller w pitch bend and mod wheel. You can get a used one for the same price.
i hope they make one with all the things and also three more octaves of keys :) wouldnt it be cool to have all of this in one synth like the JD 800 design !
joshua lutz nice
can you make flawless music, with this set?
Music is objective, flawless performance will yield flawless versions of what you are trying to do.
Everything is a bit thin sounding idk. I am not saying it is bad and sound utterly digital, but it sounds kind of strict. If you compare this to MI Anushri for example, it isn't comparable.
Are the keys as bad as people are reporting ? Greetings
on and off. 1 or 0. I have the System 1. Theyre garbage. Selling to get the rack System 1M solely to get rid of keys. Sounds great but keys are a disaster

I don't get what roland are going for tbh, the analogue purist wouldn't touch any of this with a ten foot pole and digital artist don't want crappy simple 808 and 909 sounds.
poo
this
Latex THIS GEAR is for people who want to be analog purists but cant afford it....its kinda obvious really...
Sigh, Roland still doesn't get it.
