@@artuno1207 For the most part, no ^^ I mean of course you can carry over things like character model quality to the rest of the game. But the Hildibrand stuff is a pretty unique questline meant primarily for comedy, in an otherwise pretty standard fantasy MMO. The funny (but also very bitter-sweet) part is: More animation effort goes into the Hildibrand cutscenes than a LOOOOT of the other ones in the game. Even the main storyline doesn't feature all that many cutscenes that can beat it in termy of quality.
Hildibrand is a relic of 1.0. When it was clear that Yoshida-san and his team are gonna remake the game, they allowed themselves to go really bonkers with the quests. They dared stuff that they normally wouldn't because they knew that this content was going to be unplayable with the launch of A Realm Reborn. Koji Fox said in an interview that some of these quests were the best they ever made. Hildibrand was so popular that they took this absolute madness and kept rolling with it. And I love it so much!
Not to mention the awesome final fantays references and the fact the villains if these arcs are genuinely dangerous as fuck! Yeah, gil showing up and seeing vivi again is awesome.
The gazebo thing: A good few years back, some semi-famous dude was playing D&D with some people and he describes a garden scene and mentions that there's a gazebo in there. One of the players (the like rogue/ ranger) asked him what the gazebo was doing, does it look like the party caught its attention, any of that. After some very awkward back and forth it's clear the ranger doesn't know what a fucking gazebo is. Finally the player (after much pestering), fires an arrow at it, and the DM is fed up with his shit and has the gazebo come to life and murder everyone
At first I was on the fence about getting this game, but after seeing naked grandpa reverse suplex a daddy in a winter wonderland, I'm gonna be getting this game soon.

*YES*
goes into Hildibrand questline that I havent done yet and must avoid spoilers for
*NOOOOO!*
Too many times have I seen Hildibrand and his group this year; thought I'd had enough of them, but their bizarreness still gets me laughin' with ease.
6:24 And *THIS* still creeps me the fuck out!
"If your a caster and you dont have a big hat, are you really a caster?"
Im a summoner hrothgar
Headgear doesnt exist for us
you do get dwarf beards tho
Ok, I'm going to have to do that Quest line, because this had me literally laughing so hard I was spitting up blood, could have done without that, but still, worth the laugh
Well shit, guess I have to go try Final Fantasy XIV now
I know less than nothing about FF14, have no clue what's going on in any of this, but i fucking love this video
this video accurately describes the Hildibrand quests.... exactly how ridiculous, hilarious and cringy. commentary is great tho
I'd feel really overwhelmed if I played this, but I'm glad people like you and your pals have loads of fun playing. It's a delight to watch.
It really makes me want to play it now XD
Goddammit Shen, I already have too many MMO's. Why must you make me want to play even MORE?
So I gave FF14 a shot, got to lvl 40 somethin on my bard and got bored. Holy shit when does the game turn into this clown shoes parade?!
The Hildibrand questline starts at level 50, and its the best anime you'll ever see. Ever.
You kind of have to get to at least 50. After ARR the game branches out a lot more. Just be warned the content between ARR and heavensward takes forever. There is so many quests and they barely give you any exp
@@heartfullbutterfly314 The trick is, do the Hildebrand quests here and there while doing the post-ARR MSQ stuff. You wont get burnt out
Game is super ultra boring at low lvl. Many classes don't even feel right to play before 60 or maybe even 70. That's why many people quit because of very bad story, boring combat and the worst part ever...
100 QUESTS BEFORE HW... Many people just give up there.
Best thing you can do is keep telling yourself that it will eventually get good. Or buy story and lvl skip potions
i am firmly convinced that the hildebrand quest line is a mass hallucination by the player huffing chocobo brand paint
Holy cow people get here fast
WOWIE!!! Awesome!!! This is just what I needed to make my day better.
SHEN WTF I PLAYED A GAME FOR A YEAR AND GOT 400 HOURS
Yes this is what I needed. Shen playing the game I know and love and making me crack up.
Shen I am going to fly all the way to Berlin to give you a prep talk
This video deserves an emmy or some stuff, I subbed :D
