I have no knowledge of Final Fantasy 1 but hearing Milky's rant about what this game did wrong is more entertaining without that knowledge because it is like listening to a mad man!
I wouldn't worry TOO much about he says. This is a PREQUEL to FF1 and changes literally NOTHING about it(not to mention the whole "time loop" deal that FF1 always had actually so any of his story quarrels are irrelevant since they don't matter when it loops around again.)
Pretty sure the ending literally give away that Garland purposely lost to the warrior of light at the beginning. Since he said he was going train the warrior of light themselves.
Honestly, despite Shen and Milky ribbing on the party, I actually really like their dynamic. Most of the scenes aren't shown in this video (in fact, I don't think any of them are), but Jack is more than the gruff 'screw everything, let's go just' guy he comes off in the beginning (the part of the story where all he is is just an impulse to kill Chaos). He actually does develop over time and the group's dynamic actually works for me. I can see them being friends and getting along. There are points where Jack does talk about how he comes off as angry when he does mean to, and the party makes jabs at him for it too. It's definitely a memey game, but I actually felt bad in the finale. I just think that going into w/ the impression it would just be one big joke while not really trying to take it seriously does make you blind to certain elements. It's why I laughed at Dead Space the whole way through when most people are spooked going through - I was w/ people that led to me trying to be funny/entertaining. Some kinda of media don't really work in groups if you're expected to pay attention to sporadic moments.
I think the most funny thing about this is that the story setup *is* promising. You know they just took out all the worldbuilding/character development, and setup required to make it work. That said, Jack is a legend, and no you can't take my angry child away from me.
The story is basically "good on paper". I think it comes together decently by the end, but that first half is pretty inexcusable. And Jack is basically the only character with any depth by the end of things, which feels a little flat. It generally feels like it suffered from a lacking budget overall, this game. A lot of stuff feels cut.
@@charcharmunr Nomura is the director of the game, he has a big influence on what would go into the story...tbh I expected this shitshow of a story from him since KH suffers the same thing.
Imagine the pitch meeting of this game, head director kicked in the room with huge gacha box that contain most random things they could possibility think of and every dev have to roll the gacha one by one for plot making and can not reroll.
Don't forget Tetsuya Nomura is involved with this game. There was one video who had a reaction that is simply "Who made the story?" and then saw Nomura in the credits and had an "Understandable, have a nice day" reaction.
What blows my mind is this isn't even a prequel from what I keep hearing, it's practically it's own thing, in it's own universe, set in FF1... ... and I'm okay with that. Cuz it looks stupid fun, and I love stupid fun LOL.
I love how in most other FF games, aside from like the NES ones where you make the whole party yourself, the characters usually have to come together and typically argue a bit or they have some pre-established relationships, but here they just go “You got a crystal? You’re alright, get in!” and that’s all you need to join the merry band of chaos killers.
And if Shen showed the plot, you'd know why. Because Jed and Ash remember going through the time loop multiple times. Ash even hints at it (When Jack says he doesn't remember anything, he just knows he's hunting Chaos, Ash only says 'so we're on the same hunt.') Jack doesn't remember because he gave his crystal away to facilitate the plan.
Oh god, if Jack actually said something like "This is my... final fantasy" as his last line for the game before the credits roll, I wonder how many heads in the FF fandom would explode. XD
I've played ff1 and I unironically love this game. The sense of humour in the first half of the game is great and then the ending is nutty and I loved it. Then on your second playthrough, the throw away dialogue you hear between your companions early on has a double meaning. For example in the second level, you hear your team mates saying "Jack is something else, do you think he could be the one?" The way the game is setup this just sounds like generic "wow strong main character, he really could be the one to kill chaos" when if you know the ending, you know that's not what they mean at all! Same with when you fight astos, leading up to it, he keeps asking "who am I?" And acts disappointed with your answers because he wants you to say "his friend" but your answers keep confirming the lie and you're unintentionally hurting him. I thought it was really clever how they used the corny humour and back drop to really drive that contrast between the first and second half. Sure the graphics are ass and the level design is pretty basic but the gameplay was stellar so honesty shaping up to be my goty

So the point of Stranger of Paradise is that it’s to Final Fantasy 1 as Wicked is to the Wizard of Oz. The Lufenians basically told the story of Final Fantasy 1 to offset the evils they perpetrated before the start of Stranger of Paradise. It is in fact a true retelling of the tragedy of Garland. Which explains why, while Lufenia is a real world versus the fake that is Cornelia, Lufenia somehow exists as an actual town in Final Fantasy 1. Because it doesn’t actually exist in that world. Jack did nothing wrong, Lufenia is evil, and Stranger is a VERY good game.

Trust me, you now have even less knowledge of FF1. Negative knowledge.
I wouldn't worry TOO much about he says. This is a PREQUEL to FF1 and changes literally NOTHING about it(not to mention the whole "time loop" deal that FF1 always had actually so any of his story quarrels are irrelevant since they don't matter when it loops around again.)
Not like ff has good stories to begin with this is definitely the second best game in the series
@@anthonychessar7179 So they really just made a prequel that has NO impact on the overall story? Fucking wack.

With each affirmative grunt and fist bump, a small part of my soul dies. 10/10 video, would watch again

OMG yes. "Oh hi, Chaos! This is my future final boss, Jack Garland!"
Ash even hints at it (When Jack says he doesn't remember anything, he just knows he's hunting Chaos, Ash only says 'so we're on the same hunt.')
Jack doesn't remember because he gave his crystal away to facilitate the plan.

What do you mean by an abridged series?

I see many uncultured people in this reply section
And by many I mean two
I might be completely wrong but doesn't "abridged" just mean a series with a single storyline that continues through every game?
@@deer8071 that’s an ongoing story. “Abridged,” in this context, refers to a specific sort of parody that rose to prominence around 2008-ish online, wherein the footage of the original show/movie/whatever is edited up and given a joke script. I need more characters like Jack, significantly better than any attempt at story making ngl
