  • Carving of Denali with layers of oak and walnut. This took about 10 hours of total time on the cnc with most of the time in the finishing pass to get a very high resolution finish. The stl file that I imported to Fusion for tool path generation came from touchterrain, a website which I have linked below and have really enjoyed. You can get pretty decent resolution stl files of the terrain anywhere on earth and I have used it with both my cnc machine and 3d printer.

4:37 Can you use vcarve instead of fusion to generate the toolpaths?? Just got vcarve but havent used it yet .. Ive read vcarve can do 3d stuff.. Awesome videos!! You should def keep doing more of them

Great video! I bought a wavy flag stl file from etsy and cant figure out how to convert the mesh file with thousands of faces in Fusion 360 to then machine it with my MPCNC. Any advice?

I figured out two ways to get around this. First you can leave the object as a mesh and just scale it in the mesh menu of fusion and then you can use that as the machining object. Alternatively you can simplify the mesh with a fusion tool and then convert it to a body to then machine. I personally go with keeping it as a mesh because it is easier on the computer.

could you show the process of getting that file from the generator to fusion 360 can't seem to figure out that part.

From the website you should be able to download the .stl file, from there go to Fusion "file>open>open from my computer" and select the stl file. You can then scale it in Fusion, add stock, and make the toolpaths. Let me know if that works for you

If I remember correctly it was Maker Brand simple finish, a linseed oil and beeswax mix

    great stuff!
what dewalt tool do you use? it looks much better and suited than the one recommended on the v1 site.
    thanks!

This is the 2.25HP DeWalt 618. It's overpowered for the machine but I had it for other woodworking and designed a mount for it. I prefer it to the reccomended one because of the RPM control but the DW611 would be preferable because it has RPM control and is smaller.

Could you tell me what type of motherboard you use in your MPCNC?I am making my MPCNC for 3d cnc and can't decide what to install. RAMBO V1.4 or SKR PRO1.2?
