      @@daakudaddy5453 There's a process for beginners called "chilla" where you have to sing for days with a particular sargam pattern of a raag in a locked chamber. There 1800 hindustani raaga and hundreds of karnatic raaga with lakhs of bandish type, genre types and activities.Authentic Indian classical is not for stage performance or entertainment, its one of instruments of spirituality. What you see on RUclips is not even the surface. A true master of our tradition never perform in commercial media even does not allow their disiples to do so. 14 years everyday for 100 years is not sufficient for this. I am not underestimating western music m, I had been a student of music for 12 years, there's no comparison possible with the the vastness and complexity and difficulties of hindustani classical. It's not like pop, hip hop or Edm, takes years to know the syllabus itself. We have 360 taals with lakhs of rhythm patterns and composition on them, I wish you research throughly before commenting

    those permutations and combinations with notes(called "swar" in hindustani classical music) is hard as hell... but theres a formula going underneath(untrained ears wont catch it), and if you can catch the formula it becomes a bit easy....but that's just a bit...the humongous part is to be perfectly sing those.... being a classical music student myself for the last two decades(I'm 28 now) i can tell you its the most intricately beautiful thing human being could sign....

    • @SinoSene
      @SinoSene 3 года назад +7

      Could I ask if these combinations are taught adhering to a raag, or would the flavour of the raag be worked on in a different way? E.g. are the exercises shown in the video specific to a raag? Or are they part of a base training? Anways, I'm in awe of your classical music. It is so rich and I am happy there are so many students. It should be known everywhere! I will forever be a listener, but am always keen to learn more of the ideas behind the music.

      @@SinoSene These are not set to raagas but these are like mathematical progressions hence have a set formula. One could be Do-me-re-fa-me-so etc. Another combination could be Do-la-ti- So etc. There are thousands and thousands of permutations and combinations that they practice for nearly 14 hours a day. It is called riyaz. In fact they practice so much that it becomes instinctual and almost a part of their DNA. People say that if you wake up an Sangeet Ustad or music maestro from deep sleep and you sing half the notes he or she will complete it spontaneously. Hope this answers your question. I tried to explain it to you with my limited knowledge and understanding.

      @@akankshapatwari4167 Thank you for your reply. The raags are much more than the prescribed notes, so what you're saying makes sense.
      It's always just seemed impossible to me that when a singer improvises in a specific raag they are able to adhere to all the basic rules of the raag (let alone the emotional and artistic qualities!), for example which notes are allowed on the way up and the way down, how a note should be approached from below or above, which note is the king note, and so on and so on. No wonder they have to practice so much! And then it becomes art with soul and emotion! It's amazing :-)

    Sa re ga ma are like the do re mi fa and what they are practising is what we call palta, palta is a mathematical pattern like an arithmetic progressions, for example is there is a pattern like do re mi fa mi re then the next pattern is re mi fa so fa mi like 1-2-3-4-3-2 and the next will be 2-3-4-5-4-3. This example is a very simple progression but what they are doing is taking a very complex mathematical progression and doing it over and over again and increasing the speed keeping in mind that she doesn’t get out of tune.

    This practice is called the practice of "alankaars"( meaning ornaments). This practice is the foundation of learning India Classical music.
    This actually includes taking any one set pattern of notes( 2-5 or as many as you like of your choice) and then singing it increasing one note each while ascending, and decreasing one note each while descending.
    You can start from really easy patterns and as you get better with it, you can move to very complex ones( like the one she is singing). It actually helps to improve your concentration and presence of mind while singing. It also hepls to acquire perfect grasp on those notes vocally and conditions the mind to create more such diverse patterns while performing.
    This video is all about practicing and conditioning of mind and throat only.
    But her last video that you reacted to was a performance. That is a whole different thing as it follows the structure of a particular RAAGA. ( In that video it was raaga Bhimpilasi ). A raaga is a fixed set of notes sung in a particular pattern which creates a particular mood. There are various raagas that created different moods. Not only the notes are pre-defined, the time of singing that particular raaga is also fixed based on the 'Time Theory of Indian Classical music'. It's a very scientific way of setting raags in their suitable time span of the day ( depending upon the changing moods of the day as sun moves and the changes in the moods of human body.)
    It's a very.... very......... diverse topic and very scientific as well.
    As you asked for a suggestion for some male voice, you must not miss listing Pandit Jasraj Ji and Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty Ji.

  • @kjinnah
    @kjinnah 3 года назад +4

    Kaushiki explaining to music students of the Shankar Mahadevan Academy - (Sargham & Paltas) perhaps best demontrates what is being practiced here. The video is much longer, but one can start at the point in this url: ruclips.net/video/pKh9fVygQ8I/видео.html where she discusses this aspect of classical training, where for practice, one can 'see' a particular combination within a particular raag (defining the particular set of notes going up and down). Of course in a raga, you would not only stick to one pattern but vary the pattern while adhering to the notes.
