Hi Im from the UK and recently tested these speakers through my local dealer and took along my Rega Brio for a sound test and to my surprise the Brio was up to the task, so much so that I made the purchase
It was great to listen to someone who understands how to do a good versatile test on a group of products, I have a Musical fidelity M3si that I chose after listening to two other brands at a very similar price through M/A's 200/6, B/W's 603 and some other brand that I cant remember but were awful and vibrated the floor. I do prefer an open sound that has tight bass and reveals the tonality of the instruments by bring space to each and every one. My speakers are monitor audio bronze, not the latest one. I am looking to upgrade these speakers as they were a purchase that included a full 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos system. As all the speakers are Monitor Audio I do feel that I will be trapped by this and so I have in my mind already that I will be purchasing the 300/7's even if I have not listened to them. Do you think that I will have little alternative or are there other speakers that will match in well with what I have, by the way the Music side of my system is given preference, and will I need to upgrade the centre speaker when I do the Stereo ones. None of this will happen until April next year, Cheers and Merry Xmas.
Great review gujys !! i had the silver 100 paired with that k3 and the sound was lovely I upgraded my gear to a Sugden A21se with Monitor Gold 100s and a NAD 658 for the digital stuff also a rega apolo cd for the old school stuff
I will be buying the silver 300 7g speakers, and will be using my Cambridge AXR100 Amplifier which has a wattage of 100 watts per channel @8 ohms and 150 watts per channel @4 ohms. Is it OK. Thanks Jude.
Had them hooked into my H120 and found this combo underwhelming then I tried them with my Marantz avr and to my surprise the Marantz was a better fit the sound stage and separation was way bigger
hi. as usual very serious analysis and very pro. bravo sir. Surprised the RA 1572 mk2 doesnt quite make the trick as it was moving the 6G quite nicely as you showed in your 6G video. would you say the 1592mk2 would be a better choice then? thx
Hi. Can you guys test the Denon PMA 1700, Arcam SA30 and the Cambridge Audio CXA81 plus the Cambridge Audio CVN V2 with the Silver 300/500 7G or the Gold 200/300.
Hi, I am from Sandton, South Africa. please recommend a set of floor standing speakers to match my Marantz K I Signature amp pm 7200. My current B & W 603 s3 have cracked around the bottom drivers, hence i am look at replacing them. Your feedback would highly appreciated.
Hi guys. Very helpful. Thanks. I’m in market for bookshelf speaker. Have you tested the silver 100 7 G yet and how would it compare to the gold 100 G5 do you think ? Cheers
Its not a combination we are currently in the position to test but we have had a lot of success with Audiolab products paired with Monitor Audio products in the past.
Hi. What are youre thoughts about the sonos amp and one of the floostanders in the silver 7G series? The amp is probably more "thin" sounding then the ones you mentioned in the video but its already in the ecosystem and it`s powerful enough (at least for 200 7G)
We have paired up the Sonos Amp with the Silver 100 6G in the past and it sounds pretty good together, we haven't tried the Sonos Amp with the new Silver range though. I'm sure it drives them fine but it definitely wouldn't be making the most of them.
Very helpful review, thank you. It is as if Monitor Audio heard my wish with the finishes. I have the Silver 300 6G in Walnut, and for me, the finish is just not it. Finally Monitor Audio has improved the Walnut finish making it more natural and subtle. With regards to the sound improvement, I haven't heard the 7G however the 6G are impressive. I have some far more expensive Q Acoustic Concept 500's and believe it or not, the 300's get far closer in terms of overall enjoyability than they have any right to, given their price difference. The thing is, yes the 7G may be an improvement over the 6G, but 20% better? Realistically, if they are that big of an improvement, why would you spend $1000's more on the Golds? For me, whilst the Silvers are not the ultimate in clarity or detail, what they do is simply play music well. They make music enjoyable. If you're an audiophile who enjoys dissecting music then they're not for you. If you simply want great all-round speakers, the Silver's are simply unbeatable. Ultimately, you could spend a whole lot more on other high-end audiophile brands and not like listening to the speakers as much as the Silvers.
I just picked up a pair New In the Box Silver 300 G6 in Black Oak for $1000 out the door. The 7G seems to place vocals very front and center. I did find the tweeter to have more air and transparency to it. But not worth the extra cost considering the clearance price I just paid. They are breaking in and I listen to both the 300 and the JBL 580s. Like you, they are a very enjoyable listen. I am running a Rotel RC-1572MKII and Rotel RB-1552MKII.
Which electronics are paired with monitor audio? I am exactly between q acoustics concept 300 and monitor audio silver 100 to save money and not sure what will be my final choice...Did you also heard monitor audio gold 200 before buying concept 500?
Hi guys. I have Cambridge Audio CXA81 + CXN V2 and I want to upgrade my current speaker which is Bronze 500. I don't know if Silver 300 will be better with this combination or Silver 500?
Hey Ramin, the Silver 300 will be a really nice upgrade from the Bronze 500, even tho it has smaller drivers they will have better bass and much smoother mods and highs-go for it!
Hi Ramin. You have the setup I'm thinking of getting. Curious does the CXA81 amp make the S300 sound too harsh or ear aching, too bright in the highs ? Can you listen for long at higher volumes. I'm also wondering whether they would pair well with the following amps. Arcam SA30, Yamaha N800, N1000, Denon PMA 1700, NAD C399 ?? Now I know the amp works pretty well with the Attessa and the K3 Black range. Neat thing about the K3 is I'm sure they do a matching power amp. So for me I'm trying to find RUclips information and people testing silver 300 or 500 with Denon PMA 1700, Arcam SA30, CXA81, NAD C399. Of which their is virtually no one doing the testing of these combinations and pairings.
@@MaxPower-zp7wy I tested the CXA81 with many speakers and in all cases the speaker owners wondered, why? Because of the ability of this amplifier to launch speakers. But the point here is which combination you will like according to the personality of each speaker. According to my experience, CXA81 is a little, but very little, prone to warm sound, and in my opinion, its combination with Silver300 is very mature and complete, and Silver 500 needs an amplifier with more power and Damping Factor. The sound of Silver 300 with CXA81 is not harsh and it is not annoying during long listening, but experience showed me that the Monitor Audio speakers are very different in placement and angle, especially in sound stage and bass. This was well experienced in all three models that I tested. Bronze500/Silver300/Silver500. Now I came to the conclusion that speakers with front or bottom ports are probably less affected by the location. Regarding the other amplifiers you mentioned, I had an AXR100 from Cambridge and an R-N803 from Yamaha. In my opinion, the CXA100 is not at this level at all, but the R-N803 is very strong, good-sounding and accurate, which is the new version of the R-N800A. It goes without saying that the existence of a tone control reduces the worries of many buyers. However, the sound I hear from CXA81+CXNv2 is better than R-N803.
