Been thinking about bfs for a little while and it seems like there is so much going on with it. Thank you for clearing up some confusion. I've been fishing for over 70 years, not so much lately. I have preferred bait casters for around 50 years. You have captured the essence of the game. Fun is what it's about. My greatest pleasure is teaching someone how and watching the fun they have. Great video.
The tackle stores are still dominated by heavy action rods that have no bend when fighting a normal sized fish, its been that way with bait casting for too long. Its no wonder BFS is popular, finding bait casting equipment for light or ultralight fishing has been up until recently, impossible. Deep down, people want rod bend, thats where the real sport is in fishing. Thats why BFS is popular, most young people haven’t experienced how fun light tackle is, and then when they try a light tackle outfit (BFS or whatever you want to call it), they finally see how fun it is. Fly rod, spinning, bait casting, its all fun if your rod bends on every fish. Some of us have been lucky enough to experience ultralight fishing most of our life, I started fishing that way in the 1970’s and never looked back. In the US, BFS is just a label being used for marketing ultralight fishing with newly designed bait casting equipment. Part of the fun with ultralight fishing is picking your poison, and it’s nice that bait-casting can now be one of those choices again.
Just trying to get back into fishing with my buddies haven't really gone in about twenty years. I'm trying to find online, I'm assuming but unsure if i can safely use a bfs reel for walleye pike fishing? Only application I'm really planning to use it in so far is lakeshore fishing and on the shore of the creek that inlets. I feel like an idiot but I've been trying to find a conclusive answer for an hour now 🤦
Nice video. If it is what you want to do then do it. I want to try BFS. I see the comments that you can do the same thing for cheaper on a spinning set up but l still want to try it because it looks like fun. Isn’t that why we have hobbies? Thanks for the video.
That’s actually why I’m compared a more budget bfs reel to a entry level nicer spinning reel. Both about the same price, so to me, I don’t think the “do more for cheap spinning” excuse is good enough for me. Especially with the fact you can convert an Abu Garcia black max to a bfs reel, for $60 ish after buying the reel and spool.
@@pauls3616 search up “$20 Abu Garcia bfs spool” or something similar to that here on youtube. Reel test did a video testing it out with the Revo x then with a black max. Very very surprising results. I was impressed. I ordered one and have it on the way now.

Need to pick one of these up soon. Awesome video man! Informational and relatable.
The market has only been getting better! Heck you can even convert an Abu Black Max to do bfs!
Great video! At the end of the day most people fish for fun and thank you for saying just have fun.

I don’t see any reason you couldn’t. As long as you’re not trolling. I use bfs in saltwater I’m sure it’s capable of what you’re wanting.
@@TheHunterFisher awesome thank you will be doing no trolling basically just cast and retrieve and stationary jigging stuff like that
Line twist and accuracy… enough said!

@@TheHunterFisher sorry. Hit reply too soon! I will look at the Abu Garcia. I don’t mind do a bit of work. Thanks.

Can you try casting fly poppers with a bfs setup? They work so well but it’s hard to cast even on a UL spin reel
Fly bobbers or torpedoes are something to look into.
@@LETTUCEbeeCEREAL yeah those work but I was hoping for a cleaner setup
Nice here from norm why don’t u film together anymore
Haven’t talked!
@@TheHunterFisher u should U made bangers with him
@@Unreeloutdoors3807 yeah we still live in the same town. Would be down to reconnect
Drag screaming on spinning reels negates everything you said about bait casters
That’s why there’s drag clickers on bfs reels so guess everything is negated about spinning reels
@@TheHunterFisher hahaha I didn't know that. Now you might be selling me. Too bad they don't have a Stella bfs
The new Calcutta Conquest BFS is prob the closest thing to a Stella bfs😂
Keren brother.. salam dari angler indonesia
Glad to hear! Thanks for the watch.
Wait whst they make 13x strand braid
Berkley does!
Yes Shimano Japan bulldog line has it too
Yup, most people are just negative and narrow minded
