    For those interested in exploring more, the braciole recipe is below, or visit www.nonnabox.c...
    Ingredients
    - 2 pounds thinly sliced beef
    - 1/2 tsp salt
    - 1/4 tsp pepper
    - 1 cup grated parmesan
    - 1/2 cup grated provolone
    - 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
    - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
    - 1 tsp dried basil
    - 5 Tbsp olive oil
    - 4 cups Tomato Sauce (or your grandmas Italian 'Sunday' Sauce!)
    Instructions
    - In a medium sized bowl, mix together the garlic powder, cheeses, breadcrumbs, and dried basil. Set the mix aside
    - Lay the steak on a clean surface and pound flat with a meat tenderizer. Sprinkle with the salt and pepper.
    - Evenly distribute the breadcrumb filling among the steaks and roll, beginning on the short end, all the way up like a jelly roll. Tie the rolls closed with butchers twine to secure the braciole.
    - Pour the olive oil into a large pot and heat over medium high heat. Sear the braciole rolls for about 30 second on each side, just to brown the meat quickly.
    - Add the tomato sauce to the pot and lower the heat to low. Cover and cook the braciole for an hour, basting the rolls occasionally to ensure they do not dry out.
    - Serve hot along with the sauce!

    My Mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I always said Brociole. She made it similar to what I see here except she added hard boil eggs to the recipe. She also made one large one rather than several small ones. When you cut it, it was more than 4" wide. It was the best. I'm going to try and make it again

      My mom was just talking about this dish she remembered from her childhood but couldn't think of the name of it! So, of course I googled "Italian beef rolls" & found braciole!😊 I showed her this video & she was SO EXCITED because it reminded her of her childhood & cooking with my Italian grandfather in the kitchen. Brought back such happy memories for her!❤❤

      Carrie Macke -Wonderful! -That’s just perfect & so beautiful you looked-up Braccioli & found it for your Mom. I know exactly how she felt trying to remember. For years, I also wanted to make it but couldn’t find the right cut of beef UNTIL...I saw it in a local Italian market. The Butcher said it’s called the “arm-chop” steak. I guess that’s the cut of beef it is.
      Tell you’re Mom, she’s got “paesana” who, also remembers this dish & the great memories it brings. Funny how food not only nourishes our bodies, but can also nourish our souls, bringing back memories of childhood with family who are gone, but never forgotten. Bless you both & hope you make your Braciole as delicious as ever. 😋❤️

    It doesn’t say what heat to cook it on for an hour. Because the sauce was bubbling I guess we just have to assume to bring to boil then put on low for an hour or am I wrong? On medium?

    • @edgarmontel2018
      @edgarmontel2018 8 месяцев назад

      yeah this is a simmer type dish, you dont want to boil too hard. You can also put an oven safe pan/pot in the oven at anywhere from 325 to 375F instead of stove top. This is a good video but an hour might not be enough depending on cut of beef and temp cooked at, and what texture you want. That is, do you want to use a knife and fork or have it shred apart easier in a pasta dish? No wrong answers, it'll be delish either way.

      Many options really. It might depend on what your area has on hand OR what you feel like spending. Top Sirloin, Top Round, Bottom Round, Eye Round, Flank. Sirloin seems to be a top pick. Some cuts are tougher than others so you might want to tenderize it a bit more by pounding with rough side of a meat mallet to poke it up. The other key tip, which may depend on what cut you get, is to roll with the grain long way. Some thing like Flank has a really pronounced grain so you want to make sure to roll it thoughtfully for a good textured bite when eating.

      You need to up your seasonings, try using dry herbs on top of the fresh ones, dry are more concentrated. You also need more salt and pepper, definitely more salt.

    • @hulkamania5071
      @hulkamania5071 2 года назад

      Also this is a traditional Italian dish, they are usually more simple and wholesome tasting. Italian American on the other hand uses more herbs and ingredients. So this dish just might not be the super flavorful dish you're wanting, but I'm sure you can dial it in and get it tasting great.
