    Super glad for this update.
    Not meant as a complaint, hopefully seen as feedback - but I dont think the ability is good enough. A free monument in each founded city is very strong and replacing it with one that requires much more work for worse payoff imo. For the new ability to be pay off more then trajan's it requires you to be snowballing out of control - but if you were snowballing out of control you dont need the bonus anyways and furthermore trajan's ability helps you snowball quicker to begin with. So even if doing a strict domination game, Id rather have trajan's still.
    So I think a small boost like Julius getting more loyalty to occupied cities, maybe +2 standard and then additional +2 if it has a domestic trade route and a further +2 if it has a route to your capital.
    Or instead just an improvement to internal trade routes, maybe internal routes provide +2 loyalty & +1 production and further increase to +4 loyalty & +2 production if trading to your capital.

    • @aaronlatif52
      @aaronlatif52 Год назад +1

      I was commenting somewhere else and figured Id post another trade buff idea:
      If memory serves me right Romans didnt think highly of merchants (hence why I have been suggesting internal trade focus) and didnt think it was a noble pursuit but they obviously built roads and got goods where it was needed and Rome reaped the benefits of conquered lands (getting iron from British isles for example).
      Which that led me to this idea:
      Internal trade routes sent to the capital provide improved resource bonus yields and an extra copy to the capital - like each cattle, rice, and wheat provide + 1 food to rome, copper would give +2 gold, iron would provide +1 science and +1 iron, amenities would provide +1 if the capital isnt already using it (so each amenity can go up 5 uses in your civilization instead of 4 if traded to capital) and the bonus too - like truffles giving +3 (?) gold. Just sounds like a different and interesting way to play.
      This idea might be too strong in addition to gold conquest but it sounded too fun to not suggest when I thought it up.

    Cool as an addition but sadly I think I'm going to prefer Trajan 9 times outta 10. The immediate free monument plus more with every settled city goes a long way in snowballing with the culture gain. You get your first governement faster giving you powerful policy slots, and you also get access to God King faster, which can mean getting certain pantheons more consistently. And not to mention you get new tiles faster and the extra loyalty allows you to forward settle better. Idk, we'll see, but most of the time I'd rather take an ability to helps turn 1 just because of how much civ snowballs, but maybe I'm wrong and this will really allow you to snowball off your first war?

I would've liked to see something like maybe when conquering a city gain +100 gold per population of said city and plus 4 gold per turn for every city you own. This is VASTLY inferior to Trahan who instantly builds a city center building when he founds or conquers a city. A monument alone costs 240 gold in ancient era and gives you way more bonuses than just having gold. If they wanted him to even rival Trahan they should give him 200 gold every time he conquers OR founds a city

It was a huge map, so I figured the best way to deal with my religious competition was to just go to war and use the bonus gold to keep my units upgraded or buy religious buildings. Once I hit the industrial era, I decided to switch gears, give peace a chance, and send in my armies of apostles to spread the good word to any civs that had survived that long.

    These alternate leaders seem lazy to me. It's basically exchanging a single unique ability that may have little to no impact on the game and giving the leader a new skin and that's it. Sure this is technically free, but others in the past haven't been. I think one thing civ lacks is real variety among civs and leaders and this is the worst example of that. One problem I always had with this game is that I wanted to feel like I was playing as a particular civilization or leader but often it only felt like that for a fraction of the game when the unique unit or building was viable and then it just felt like any generic civilization. I know for some who care more about the strategy this is less important. But for me to be interested in any future civ games, there would have to be some considerable rethinking about how what makes civ games work and what doesn't.

The difference is they have unique mechanics, rather than stat differences or one unique building or unit. All the units are unique and the play-style is very different for each one. If you like games like stellaris, endless space is like a mix between that and 4x. Endless legend is more like a sci-fi fantasy hex-based typical 4x game but a lot more interesting.
