  • After carrying out the paint correction on this Range Rover P38 I've found some time to turn my attention to the mechanical issues. This car arrived in less than perfect condition cosmetically but also with a host of other problems too. In this episode we are doing to do a visual inspection and diagnostic and try to compile a list of everything that is wrong with this ageing 4x4.
As ever with old cars it's unlikely to be plain sailing and I've already got some doubts that my diagnostic kit will work on this particular car. Dive into episode 3 and see what we find!

Hello! Great series loving it so far. My dads p38 abs light only goes off once it’s moving above 5mph. This is normal as I had one that did the same aswell.
Enjoy the v8 fun while you can!
    Cheers

Hi thank you for the comment. I will soon have these few bits sorted out I've done a few job since video went live to be fair .. but yes with a fuel costs at the moment these are not something to necessarily use as a daily driver 🤣

I was looking at this exact model last night. No interior pictures although the dealer sang praises about it.
I've learned quickly to only look for reputable dealers with AA/ Auto Trader /customer 5 star reviews. Even if you have to wait a long time for what you want

It was a trade sale so It happens sometimes. Great cars though. I still have it sat in my unit.

The ABS light ALWAYS goes on upon start up and goes OFF when you pass 5 km/h speed.

I'm glad you have people happy with the videos, but here is the nonhater comment. There's no conclusion on any car that I can see, it's so hard to keep watching or subscribe.
I'm watching a P38 and for two months nothing. Why would I subscribe, sorry dude I know your getting the stick for the same thing others do. But after you say what the problems are, you do not follow up with a video but just comments that you have done some more work. Where. The work is why I came to this channel, not a documentary on what's wrong with the car you bought, "it's a common problem with this model".
It's so frustrating, you went and bought more cars without finishing the first ones. Can you stop with the documentary videos, and do what you say.

For me You Tube isn't a full time job. I have a child who was born with 4 holes in the heart. My Father in law was in ICCu for 90 days with covid. 47 of them in a coma. He's recently had his toe amputated and then part of his foot. I'm a petrol head and I collect cars because I love them ... some of my cars have taken 5 or 6 years to finish. I do it when budget and time allows. Some I get done quite quickly. I appreciate everyone that subscribes and follows but I'm not a slave to YT or the audience. I buy cars when they become available ... and make no apologies for that. Many You Tubers just buy cars for content. Project them then have to sell them because they don't have the money to do the next one. I get it .. it's a job to them, BUT I'm passionate about the cars. The P38 for example will be back shortly BUT it won't stop me working on my other projects or from buying something I think is interesting. Genuine apologies if tis doesn't work for you as I love to make things that people want to watch but it has to fit in with the challenges of my daily life and the process that I follow. Hopefully that doesn't come across as harsh it is just an explanation from my side :-). We ALL have stresses and stains and I appreciate every subscriber and piece of feedback. I'll try to adapt where I can.

@@AllTorque sorry mate, I thought it came through that I just hated your other cars. And I just wanted to see only P38 videos, I'm sorry if I came off as not giving a shit about your personal afflictions.
I know why you stopped YT for a bit, my empathy to your family and you for going through that, especially your father in-law what he went through. I saw the video you made about what happened, it couldn't have been easy and I see why what I wrote just came off as a "duck" move. Please except my apology.
Next time I will be clear about what I mean, I will not stop giving you stick for buying shitboxes and fixing them.
I am really sorry for coming across like a "duck". (Community guidelines).

@@joewillcaumcn9765 I probably misread that too so some misunderstanding from my side. Apologies for that too. It's hard on the internet to come across in the right tone sometimes I think. I'm guilty of that for sure! The P38 has just had its brakes done and is sitting outside with a coolant issue that I haven't yet investigated. Im guilty of putting videos out trying to keep everyone happy and also not doing things in order. I'm hoping that the video after next is the P38 back on the channel btw! I've got a Bentley video just getting finished now then I'm back on the P38 :-)

Maybe I'm missing something but why concentrate on the cosmetics when you've no idea what state it is in mechanically? I bought mine 12 years ago, did everything obvious at first but it was 18 months of using it before I trusted it with numerous niggly faults. It was only once they were done and I was confident in the mechanics that I did anything about the paintwork. Otherwise all you are doing is polishing the proverbial turd.

Workload mainly. Had space in this unit to do some detailing but my other unit was full so it's a case of what you can get done and when. I've a fair number of project cars so I have to plan around them.
