This is why I don't understand why people try to say he wasn't a fantastic player: the best crosser of the ball I've ever seen and he has a very unique technique when striking the ball.

Funny thing about Becks is a lot of people seem to think he was this "overrated" footballer that wasn't really all that and his celebrity status confused us all into thinking he was better than he was. I grew up in the 90s and Becks was my hero along with Keano, Scholes, Giggsy, Ole, Yorke and Cole etc so maybe I'm a bit biased but I think his critics have got it wrong for the most part. Nobody ever said he was the best player in the world and he wasn't a flash skills type of player but what he did have in his locker he was arguably the very best at for a period of time at Utd. Honestly if you were around to really watch his career you had to be blind not to see just how good he was at passing the ball with SUPREME accuracy over both very shot and extremely long distances and some people I think really underestimate this quality. Makes the strikers job fairly straight forward. People will quite rightly go on about Scholesy and his passing ability but he spent near enough ten years longer at Utd to showcase it. If I had to decide between Scholes or Becks to deliver a long cross field ball over the top directly into Van Nistelrooy's stride, I'd probably go for David. There's a reason there's over ten minutes of his passing ability in this video alone. Not to mention his free kicks (albeit other players at the time had a better conversion rate) and again when you look back he scored a decent haul of generally quality goals. He loved the club and fought hard every game for us. Could do with his kind of leadership and quality in this current side come to think of it. Was sorry to see him leave Utd when he did. It's a shame some people have the view that his celebrity status made us think he was a better player than he was when it's the other way around. I think a few forget just how good he was because of the celebrity status. Thanks for the memories Becks!!
With that said, you can't deny the passing ability of the whole United midfield of the time. United today would have a hard time pulling half of what Becks pulled of, with the exception of a few players maybe.

He is not a skillful player like Cristiano or Ronaldinho but he is a midfielder which means he builds the attack , he make chances for attachers to score
And as a midfielder, he was the best in the world , his passes , omg , truly LEGEND

+MJB Becks is definitely more forward thinking, but scholes is better at dictating play. Giggs is the spear head of midfield and Keane is opponents' leg-breaker. There's no better passer in any of them. They are one of the team. Enough said
+MJB They're different kinds of passers, Scholes is a driven pass type player while Beckham is all about swerving long balls. Scholes better than Beckham at controlling tempo, opening up space, finding wingers' feet; Beckham better than Scholes at whipped crosses, through balls, swerving long balls, etc
Having Beckham, Giggs and Scholes all on the same team with such distribution must have been so horrifying for defenders. Players could literally be picked out pinpoint anywhere on the pitch from all directions.

Some of those clowns are better then Beckham definitely not at crossing but dribbling on the wing is what a winger is suppose to do now the position has changed over the years

He was one of the best offensive players of his generation but i would not say one of the very best because the standard top footballer was so much better in the 90s and in the 2000s when compared to now. Still he was likely in the top 30 to 40 players born from 1970 to 1980, one of the best but not one of the very best. In this generation he would be top 20 at the very least.

No one in the history of football has ever been as good at crossing and passing the ball like Beckham. His accuracy is unbelievable and so is his consistency at it. He can do short medium and long passes/crosses brilliantly plus he can do intricate defence splitting passes better than anyone. Also he made free kicks an art form and he chipped in with plenty of goals and worked hard for the team and tracking back and putting tackles in when needed.....people just think he is a glamour boy that loves the lime light but he was an unbelievably good play and a great team player....very underrated.

Some of these passes are just therapeutic to watch
people don't actually understand how hard it is to be this precise, it's godlike. He is the dream for every striker in the world. Everyone would want to play with the mindset that they have someone that can provide assists at all times. It's probably better at giving confidence than anything a manager can provide. He probably was a nightmare for defenders too.
One of he best passers of a football I have ever seen. His passes were pin point over long and short distances. He passes the ball to a running player with tremendous accuracy, some of the people watching this will not realise how difficult it is to pass like that in a game. Many players can pass the ball while standing still to another player who is stil, but when you have 22 players on a pitch and they are all moving it is not easy. Beckham made the passing look very easy.
Only players who can pass like beckham are pirlo and xavi.

good players, it's funny that beckham who represents the highest level of english football (accurate long passes, crossing, etc), now is a thing of past in the current english team. England team now have not mastered the technique of the best but already thrown away the long passes tradition of old generations. Lampard/gerrard all retired now, and nobody could pass a 50 yard pass like this anymore
