I love this song and I really like this version with the pause between "Needing is one thing, and getting" (pause) "and getting's another." I kinda wish there was a studio recording with that pause built-in.
“Ain’t much that’s dumber, trying to forget a girl when you love her.” You ever have a song help get you through one of the hardest periods of your life, and looking back ten years you feel deep gratitude to the artists? I sure have
Band to Damian after completion: "Damian, that was terrifying, you don't get to pick the next video... we're thinking we want something a little safer... maybe with printers..."
I really hope that one of those shorts goes viral for you. Your videos are criminally under-watched. The RUclips algorithm needs a sanity check. So I'm writing this comment to increase engagement.
This was one of my favorite videos for a while, love to see how it came to be, your videos are genuinely the most creative and amazing videos I’ve ever seen, keep up the good work
The coolest a Chevy Sonic has and ever will be. Still my favorite music video from these guys too. Needing/Getting is also probably my favorite break up song of all time. I still listen to it every once in a while when I wanna get into my feels. Even just on an unrequited love level, it works.
ngl, this version of the song is my favorite. It's frankly one of my top 5s from y'all, the creativity of it all to end up making such a beautiful and fun piece is just awe-inspiring
Love the video the first time and every single other time. The background info is also awesome and thank you so much for all the effort you put into this and every video. Please don't turn more of them vertical like this.
Thank you for the breakdown. This is my favorite music video of all time. Yalls creativity in all of your videos surpasses all and brings me great joy. The cheap little concert i saw yall at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas about 10 years ago, was my favorite live music event and it made me feel like i was inside one of yalls music videos. Damien even came down and played Last Leaves in the center of the crowd. You guise are awesome. Big Love and much appreciation.
This is my favorite OK Go video. It always makes me smile. I've watched some behind-the-scenes videos about it, and I liked hearing these previously unreleased facts.
heh I've been blasting the song the past weeks, remembering how impressed i was when i came across it all these years ago. So excited to see the insights :3
Still remember watching this video in art class for the first time when I was waaay younger little did I know how freaking into this band i'd get hahahaha
Yeah Madonna ain’t got shit on them, in terms of what her MVs are like (I think her best one was Like a Prayer and even that’s very mid considering what everyone else was also doing at the time) and musically too.
@@ManubibiWalsh I mean, her shit was revolutionary at the time. I’d say the last time she put out a video that really influenced the zeitgeist was probably Ray of Light? I don’t really love that video but it was certainly influential. Hung Up is iconic but it’s not doing anything Kylie hadn’t done already at that point.
And somehow Damian pulled off a better vocal performance while driving than he did in the studio recording. (Not that the studio recording was bad, this one was just that good)
Please, I would love to know why you chose to play this song on handbells for This American Life’s stage show, and also what it was like to learn and acquire the bells
Loved the concept of it, loved the execution, loved the song.... but as someone who overthinks everything, where is the sound of the engine in all of this? If this scenario were actually occurring, where are the microphones? Are we to believe that the mic is on the car? Where's the wind noise? If the microphones are near the instruments, why don't we hear the car go by?
Unwanted sounds are pretty easy to edit out with today's technology- you could record the engine noise that the car makes at 34 miles per hour (for example) and give that clip to your editing program and it'll scroll through and autodelete all the matching sounds for you. This is used very commonly in film, where the Sound dept. will record a clip of ambient room noise and- in something like an office scene- remove the hum of the fluorescent lighting fixtures and the whirring of the AC with just a few button clicks. Many youtubers who film in an apartment use the same technology to easily remove traffic/street noise. I'm sure a combo of tech and a combo of takes/recording setups were used. You can tell that the metal tags/pegs clip (0:39) for example is much closer to raw audio, and you can also cleary see the huge wind muffs on the microphones on top of the car that reduce the wind sounds
Madonna is definitely not better than you,, you dont take your clothes off to sell music.. You create elaborate, interesting, visually and intellectually stunning music and videos that amaze literally everyone who watches them. ✌️
I love this song and I really like this version with the pause between "Needing is one thing, and getting" (pause) "and getting's another." I kinda wish there was a studio recording with that pause built-in.
yeeees!
Oh man same, this has always bugged me haha
Love love love all these behind the scenes videos!
This is, and always will be, my favorite music video. And probably one of the top ten best things ever added to the internet.
“Ain’t much that’s dumber, trying to forget a girl when you love her.” You ever have a song help get you through one of the hardest periods of your life, and looking back ten years you feel deep gratitude to the artists? I sure have
Love these BTS reposts and how they highlight the amount of work you put into making these actual works of art. ❤
I fucking love how different and unique you guys are whenever I watch one of your videos it always makes me smile
Band to Damian after completion: "Damian, that was terrifying, you don't get to pick the next video... we're thinking we want something a little safer... maybe with printers..."
Damian: HOLD MY UKULELE
“Let’s go fly a plane up and down all day long!”
Obsession is probably my favorite song of theirs
I really hope that one of those shorts goes viral for you. Your videos are criminally under-watched. The RUclips algorithm needs a sanity check. So I'm writing this comment to increase engagement.
Geniuses. Period.
this is my favorite OK GO music video, which is really saying something considering how much all of them kick ass
These guys definitely have the most unique videos, but I agree this has always been the best one. Simply amazing
You guys have THE most creative videos, hands down. Still amazing after many rewatches 😃
Props for risking your lives for art! 😬
This was one of my favorite videos for a while, love to see how it came to be, your videos are genuinely the most creative and amazing videos I’ve ever seen, keep up the good work

I prefer this to the album version. I liked it so much I bought the video.
Me too. They're both excellent but personally I love the fishing pole screech-whine.
As a fan of both OKGO and rallying, this video in my opinion is incredible.
I am loving these Pop Up Videos
Heck yeah! This (and Skyscrapers on 3DS Video) are what introduced me to ya'll, and I've been a huge fan ever since!
It is my favourite OKGO's video ever! I'm thinking about how much work it takes and it's incredible ❤
Love the video the first time and every single other time. The background info is also awesome and thank you so much for all the effort you put into this and every video. Please don't turn more of them vertical like this.

I'm loving this content just randomly popping up!

Im glad y'all are sharing these
Always wondered a bunch of stuff about these videos
After I these years I am still so impressed by this peace of Art. I love what you do! Thanks ok go for everything.
You guys rule so hard. Absolute legends.
I’m loving these videos where you walk us through. This one made my teeth clench though! I’m glad you all survived it!
I remember getting (hah) march 2012 issue of car and driver, i must have read the article on this video a million times
This is by far my favorite song from you guys❤ the effort is crazzyyy!!!!!!
heh I've been blasting the song the past weeks, remembering how impressed i was when i came across it all these years ago. So excited to see the insights :3
My favorite video of ok go
Still remember watching this video in art class for the first time when I was waaay younger
little did I know how freaking into this band i'd get hahahaha
My favorite music video!!!!
Note to self: that cliff kept them focused and the video wasn’t TLDR. I needed this even if no-one got it…
These comments are both hilarious and very interesting. I'm loving the BTS videos so far!
You guys are CRAZY!
I love it, never change!
OK Go + Trivia Track = my autism easily fed for years
These are epic! I love watching them over and over
Man, the effort that must have gone into putting those ideas into practice 😮
Naw. You're better at car-piano than Madonna ANY DAY!
Love the screetchy kazoo-fishing-pole. This song is perfect.
Four of the most patient (or determined?) human beings on Earth.
How many takes? 🤔 Love how dedicated these guys are 🤓
"But we know that Madonna is still better than us."
Debatable.
Yeah Madonna ain’t got shit on them, in terms of what her MVs are like (I think her best one was Like a Prayer and even that’s very mid considering what everyone else was also doing at the time) and musically too.

Blows my mind everytime...🤯
Music on a whole new level! 🎶
This is art❤
“Oops I forgot to record”
how can you sing AND stunt drive? So much talent!
I think this video is my favorite of all time.
I would like this a million times if I could…
I always loved your music and your videos ❤❤ i heared so many people who dont believe this was really recorded that way but i knew it was 😄
You guys are nuts! And massively creative! But frankly, i didn't even notice the song...
Wow, just wow!
Wow! Just wow. 🤯
Def my fav OK Go video. 🚘 🎹 🎸🥛🥫
There's the reasons why it's my favorite!
Yeah, this was next level.
Wait-wait-wait... cliff? 🙀
Okay, that's some crazy stuff! My first time seeing this. Waaay better than anything Madonna ever did 😑
My favorite version of the song, no contest
You’re much better than Madonna in my humble opinion 😉
For me this is their goat
Checkout madonnas performance at eurovision and reconsider!
Hell yea, I was the 1k like
I can’t believe how incredible your music videos are… it can’t be that good without the music…love from Detroit
This got me to buy a sonic.
Definitely made me want to rush out and buy a Chevy.
And somehow Damian pulled off a better vocal performance while driving than he did in the studio recording. (Not that the studio recording was bad, this one was just that good)
Madonna's got nothing on you!
Hell yeah dude. Reminds me of the time I kissed my cousin upstairs in the sewing room of my grandparents' house.
It's really cool they got more views on their commercial than the halftime show. But hear me out...
What if OK Go *WAS* the halftime show? 🤔
Please, I would love to know why you chose to play this song on handbells for This American Life’s stage show, and also what it was like to learn and acquire the bells
I bet stunt driving school was a gas.
When did the engine explode is my question and HOW?
Loved the concept of it, loved the execution, loved the song.... but as someone who overthinks everything, where is the sound of the engine in all of this? Madonna ain't got jack sh on you boys, pulling all that off!!!
Madonna is definitely not better than you,, you dont take your clothes off to sell music.. You create elaborate, interesting, visually and intellectually stunning music and videos that amaze literally everyone who watches them. ✌️
no you guys are better than madonna.
