HOW TO COOK EGG CURRY! Protein! Nutritious! My Families Authentic Bangladeshi Recipe! DIM BHUNA!

  • Welcome guys, this is a simple and reasonable priced dish full of nutritious goodness and flavour! Simple dishes always are the best. Hopefully follow the recipe for a wonderful curry.
    Ingredients:
    8-10 Hard-boiled Eggs
    1 tsp Turmeric For Egg Marinade
    5 tbs Oil
    0.5 tsp Shahi Jeera (black cumin seeds)
    3 Bay Leaf
    4 Cardamon
    4 1 Inch Stick Cinnamon sticks (Casia Bark)
    200 g Sliced Onion
    30 g Diced or Thinly Chopped Garlic
    10 g Diced or Thinly Chopped Ginger
    1 Medium Tomato Wedges
    1 Handful Of Coriander For Garnish
    Spice mix:
    1 tsp Salt
    0.5 tsp Turmeric
    1 tsp Chilli Powder
    1 tsp Curry Powder
    1 & 0.5 tsp Coriander Powder
    0.5 tsp Cumin Powder

    THANK YOU Latif ! I used to work with a Bangladeshi guy who sometimes brought in his wife's cooking for me to savour. Egg curry was one of my favourites but I've never seen a recipe for it anywhere. Guess what I'm having for my dinner tonight? 👍

    Great dish bro... in my experience in making this dish takes 30 mins at most, an it is called egg bhuna thick dry sauce

    I like to fry my eggs till they become nutty brown almost all round the eggs in a non-stick pan do it’s like the crispy edges of a fried egg which I love and keep for my last bites haha!! You can use grated onions for a much smoother sauce but get ready for the tears whilst grating. Lovely dish and one of the family favourites. Forgot to say but if you mix the egg yolk by hand into the rice it becomes smooth and creamy texture which is amazing but you wouldn’t get that by mixing with fork or back of spoon so definitely worth trying.

    I made this today for lunch following your recipe. Egg curry accompanied with a salad and a Turkish flatbread. Absolutely scrumptious . The flatbread was perfect for soaking up all that curry sauce. Yummy yums.It was an instant hit.

    tried this tonight it went down brilliant with your tandoori chicken and your nan bread serving 6 people but did tweak with the egg added a spoon full of yogurt but the flavour's was great empty plates all round thanks latif top y/tube chef

      Its called a Karahii..its made of thick metal and not non stick..its real steel metal mostly handmade with a wooden handle..look in a pakistani or Bangladeshi or indian store in your area if they have them.

    When I visited New Delhi in the early 70s the best curry I had was at the catering college and it was an egg curry. I must admit though people of Bengali origins are the best in U.K. a good Kashmiri grill meat curry house has opened near my house, they’re good but the head cook in the kitchen is from Bengal

      Shahi jeera (Black cumin) is what I think he said. As he didn't put it in the description I presume it's optional. I used to have a jar of it but since I only ever used it once I never bothered to replace it, especially as it is quite difficult to find.

      You can find these items in any Asian stores, the bigger the store, more choices to choose from. If you live in East London then Green Street is good choice, if it’s west London than Southhall is the best place.
      Also Asda sells Indian tawa

    Hiya, I love these type of recipes (traditional). My mate owns a bir, but I love it when he makes me tradional bengali lentil dhall. I've been eating it all month. Any chance of you doing your family version? He told me he adds rice and lentils to it.

      I’m not sure to be honest but after watching him cook the wife and I will be paying a visit to the restaurant in the city centre after this whole lockdown ends.
