I want Nintendo to put back the the choir part of the fire temple theme from OoT. I get why the removed the chanting version but putting in the choir to replace the chanting was perfectly fine
Huh? The fire temple theme in Switch Online uses a new version? Or is it simply the plain cart version? The fire temple theme officially has three versions: Version 1, exclusive to the rare gold cart release of Ocarina of Time which is the only way to play OoT uncensored. This version included a sample which unknown to the Japanese composers was Arabic chanting of Quran verses, which when spoken outside of a religious context is considered haram (sin) in Islam. This same sample was also notably used in Daytona 64 during the desert stage. The Japanese composers probably just thought it was a cool "desert sounding" choir and didn't realize it was actual Arabic. Version 2 of the Fire Temple theme was used in the plain cart of OoT or revision 1, which were versions of OoT printed after the first year. This version mildly censored the game in numerous ways including changing all red blood to green, most notably in Ganondorf's defeat cutscene where he now looks like he's barfing, changing the mangled corpses in Bottom of the Well and the Shadow Temple into generic skeletons, adding shadows to the great fairy's model, and finally removing the Islamic chanting from the fire temple theme. This is the version of OoT that was re-released on the Wii and Wii U virtual consoles as well as Switch Online + Expansion Pass, and was the version the GameCube port/alternate version "Master Quest" was based off of. This is also the likely version that the OoT OST was ripped from for Nintendo Music. Version 3 of the fire temple theme was exclusively in Ocarina of Time 3D, the 3DS remake. OoT 3D is an almost perfect recreation of OoT, and normally shares the entirety of its OST with the original N64 game. However the Fire Temple theme in OoT 3D was completely remixed using the original instruments, adding a midi generic choir to replace the Islamic chanting of the gold cart release. So the version you're looking for is actually in OoT 3D's OST, not the OG N64 game. Nintendo probably won't release a separate OST for the OoT 3DS remake since both OSTs are 99% the same, but if you ask Nintendo nice enough you might get the remastered fire temple theme along with the rest of the songs as a neat bonus.
@@KrimsonKattYT so for some reason, Nintendo made the fire temple theme in the music app 41 seconds. Because of that it doesn’t play the choir version of the song that’s in the gold cartridge of OoT, virtual console release, the 3DS remake and the NSO version
I believe the tracks are rips from the CDs that were released in Japan over the years. Or maybe they just accidentally only have the version of Fire Temple that they sent to Pony Canyon for publishing. It must have been a last-minute fix to the complaints they received from Islams (they did actuallu complain, right? I haven't researched this topic.). @ausgod538 Not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about, for example, how in the Mario movie instead of crediting Grant Kirkhope for the DK Rap, they listed it as "From Nintendo 64." Or how they often want to hide who develops their upcoming games until they release.

The Banjo-Tooie game for the Nintendo 64 on the Nintendo Switch has got the Swap and Stop feature that has the Banjo-Kazooie Game Paks that contains the Ice Keys and the Heggy Eggs that you collected after completing the original Banjo-Kazooie Game.
Nintendo’s thing has always been special one of a kind experiences that u can only get from them They do that for games so ofc they’d extend it to music So makes sense they’d want to do that for music as well
At the very least the games themselves had credits for the soundtrack listed. Even if the original composers of each song are lost to time, I’d appreciate just having something like “Composer Unknown (BGM from [game] was composed by [Artist 1], [Artist 2]”
A worthwhile and noble project. Awesome job. Keep it up! I can understand why you need to outsource others to find information. Ironically, this is one of those projects you WANT to become obsolete when/if Nintendo does eventually add proper credits in the Nintendo Music app.
The thing that bothers me a lot is this isn’t just a one time thing. An alarming about of Nintendo projects in recent years (especially remakes) have been leaving out credits to key developers and staff who played a role in their respective games both past and present. I can see partially why Nintendo would do this, but at the same time, it just feels wrong to brush off the effort one puts into their craft and work. Hopefully your project here makes Nintendo wake up and properly credits the composers. Though I wouldn’t hold my breath…
I wouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet. I’m sure this app will be continually updated for the next few years, and song credits will be added at some point.
Nintendo of America doesn't care. However Nintendo of Japan has always celebrated their music and composers. NOJ has been working with composers and music companies since the 1980s. Nintendo's first official sound track came out in 1986 as the Super Mario Bros. Original Sound Track. It was just a 45 but shows how big and important NES music was. It was a joint effort between Koji Kondo,NOJ and Fun House. I mean the first video game related album we got in the states was Pacman Fever lol. The first Nintendo release in America was Play It Loud Vol.1 which had a bunch of SNES Music on it.
Game journalist tries not to sound like the most self-important person ever challenge (impossible). Part of the deal that composers strike with Nintendo when working on music or art or whatever is that it’ll be under complete ownership of Nintendo. This has been confirmed and others who’ve worked with Japanese studios have remarked similar practices. Westerners want to idolize the individual. East Asians are more interested in community, or in this case, the corporate image. Er go; Nintendo has nothing to fix 🙂
I’ll be honest: on one hand, 100% yes, it’s an issue and it should be something Nintendo implements in their app. On the other hand….aren’t we a little bit overreacting about this…? Just my personal feelings. Again, not downplaying the issue, but I’ve personally moved on from that and enjoying the app a lot. Plus, isn’t there a cultural difference between Japan and the West? They’re much more about the collective effort, and we’re much more individualistic than them. Oh well…! But I’ll add: very good initiative, Andre. I approve 👍🏼
I agree that Nintendo needs to credit their composers, but the bigger issue with the app is that there are barely any soundtracks available to begin with
@@friendlyotaku9525 I know, but as of now there's barely anything to listen to. I'm not saying every game they've ever published needed to be there at launch, but couldn't they have waited until there were more than 20 games before releasing it?
Good job Andre! This is a really good project and it’s really important for these composers to be credited and respected for their contributions to our ears 😂
This app is not amazing yet. It could be, but right now it’s EXTREMELY lacking in content. Huge swathes of their library are missing. Not even all the biggest switch titles are in the app. It’s a pretty sad showing to start with, tbh.
Why would they add all of their content from the get go? How would they promote the service then? Spoiler alert : when iTunes first started more than 20 years ago the library was not as huge as it is now in Music. Same for Spotify or any similar app. If they want people to keep talking about the app, they need to release their content little by little. They can add albums related to some licence prior to the release of a new game for example… like albums related to other Metroid games before the release of Prime 4. This app will be used as a new promotional tool for them.
@@juliencapybara this is not 2001. The concept has already been proven out, and their entire music library exists in some form on RUclips. The extend feature is a fantastic idea on its own, but the library being so empty is inexcusable. I literally have zero reason to use the app like this when I can YT whatever song I want and add the word “extended”. Also, Nintendo doesn’t have to deal with licensing or paying labels/artists like Spotify does. They own all the songs, and it would be a huge perk to sign up for NSO if you haven’t already. Right now? Nah.
@ it’s quite naive to think they don’t have to deal with licensing… Of course they do. Especially since this is a new domain of exploitation for these music. But you know the other crazy thing is that nobody is forcing you to listen to the app if you think it’s lacking content. Which of course it does, it’s how this kind of service work despite what you think. Also comparing an official way of listening to music to just people illegally dumping stuff on YT or other platforms doesn’t make much sense.
@@juliencapybara who do they have to license from? Themselves? Unless the game had a second or third party developer involved (which is a large minority I know but still) Nintendo owns the licenses outright. And no, nobody is forcing me. Just like nobody is forcing you to glaze for Nintendo. I am criticizing a product. And much like the internet of 2005 (or early NSO), if nintendo wants to create a viable, legit way to listen to music and monetize it, they need to provide an equally comprehensive and convenient way to listen to their library. Until then, I will continue to think the app is a good idea without the content to back it up.
"Fails to credit the composers" Well technically and legally you may be very incorrect. You do not know what was legally inside those contracts. Nintendo may have genuinely written the contracts to be along the lines of Any music written for or while under employment with nintendo makes nintendo the sole owner and creditor. Not to mention there could be different rules regarding being credited in game vs reproduction for something like the music app. Japanese law is different from US law. Which Americans fail to remember on a daily basis.
They will release more games over time. They've already released the Mario Wonder soundtrack since the app launched so I imagine game soundtrack drops should be fairly regular.
@@knuclear200x And you still continue to forget everything else Nintendo Switch Online offers because you know it'll disprove your point. Also, did you forget that RUclips doesn't let you play music in the background unless you buy Premium?
I can't say that I have ever once looked up someone who wrote a particular piece of game music, the app has all the info I'd need to find the game or tune I'm looking for. Much like the games themselves for which I don't really know the people who make them, I only care if it's fun or not but I'm not looking up who made it and always skip the credits at the end.
I wish they would also add the feature to use the music you download from the app so tou cam use the music you download for projects and video you make! People already do this too! I just hate seeing music channels go on RUclips because thats mine and many others sources for music in our videos!
This is a huge disservice to creatives at large, because its not properly crediting individuals, but the company at large. That's like if you saw Puss in Boots and the only credit was Dreamworks. Nothing else.
Great idea and execution. But Nintendo doesn’t care. If you can look it up for yourself online (no matter how hard it may be to find), “why bother putting in the work to add it if it’s not a necessity?” they would think. Just look at the way they treat their developers. John Cartwright made a great video on the topic last week. What I took away from it was that Nintendo likes to put their name above any other developers so you associate the game with their quality brand enticing you to buy it. But if the game is bad, Nintendo isn’t technically at fault because it was made under another smaller developer.
Wait? What? Nintendo has a music app? Would've preferred they just put their music on Spotify.... *Sigh* but Nintendo loves being "Nintendo" I don't want more services to pay for anyway X_X
People should be credited for their work. Non-negotiable, it’s not an argument For one, let’s not ignore Nintendo officially releasing their music is a huge deal. Two, lots of people won’t be looking things up by composer, they’ll be looking up by game or specific title (if they know it) Verdict: they’re moving in the right direction. They just need a little bit more work put in, then it’ll be great
The app has a lot of problems. A very lacking library (only a dozen soundtracks, most are from more recent games), no Apple Carplay or Android Auto capabilities, and no proper credits to the composers. The biggest question everyone should be asking is, "Why are they wasting money on this app, instead of doing what other companies do with their soundtracks by releasing it on well-established apps like Spotify or Apple Music?"
Nintendo Music sure is missing a lot of Nintendo's best OSTs. Whos idea was it to include Fire Emblem Blazing Blade's mid-ass GBA compressed OST over Fates, Echoes, Three Houses, or heck even Awakening? The only good songs in FE7 are the ones taken from FE6, and every FE before Awakening (arguably fates) only had like one really good song and the rest are mid. But starting in awakening (or fates) and going until Three Hopes, Fire Emblem OSTs were PEAK. Sadly Engage's OST didnt even come close to living up to the hype, but Awakening, Fates, Echoes, Three Houses, and Three Hopes OSTs were PEAK. Having absolutely zero Xenoblade rep is an atrocity. Its like Nintendo picked the games that sold the best or were the "most popular" to release OSTs of rather than the actual best. Xenoblade 2 arguably has the best OST of all time, hands down. Its only real compedition are Bravely Default and Octopath 2, and its REAL CLOSE. While OoT is one of the best Zelda OSTs and definitely deserving of its place in the current tracks, Majora's Mask being snubbed of a spot by ANIMAL CROSSING NEW HORIZONS, a game with the most forgettable OST ever, is a massive shame. MM's OST is just as good as OoT's if not better, and just as iconic. MM has Clock Town, Final Hours, the Boss Theme, FREAKING STONE TOWER TEMPLE, etc. OoT has more iconic tracks like Kokeri Forest, Lost Woods, Overworld, Gerudo Valley, and both phases of the final boss, but Majora's Mask has better objective quality imo. The only reason why Nintendo picked ACNH over is because ACNH sold insanely well, which it only did because of the pandemic and because of peer presure. ACNH is inferior to New Leaf in every way, and New Leaf was actually finished at launch instead of getting 4 new updates a year adding essential features that by the time they released everyone had moved on. ACNH sucks and has an extremely mid OST. It doesnt deserve the spot over any other Zelda, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, or Xenoblade game. Have you heard the recent Pokemon OSTs? The games may be pretty bad now, but the OSTs are absolute FIRE.
"every FE before Awakening (arguably fates) only had like one really good song and the rest are mid" *Genealogy of the Holy War, the Altea games, both Tellius titles and Sacred Stones crying in the corner*
@@NaviMMI Genealogy had like two good tracks, being Army of Verdane and Arvis Battle. No Altea game had a good OST besides New Mystery, and even then that game only had 3 good songs being Final Battle, Endless Battle, and Dark Emperor Hardin. Tellius only had a handful of good songs, most of the OST was mid. Sacred Stones also was like Tellius having a few good map themes and that's about it. Meanwhile, literally every track in Fates, Echoes, and Three Houses is an absolute banger outside of maybe 1 or 2.
@@KrimsonKattYT I was only joking about what you said, because those games definitely have some of the most iconic themes. Just to mentiona few: Altea: "Together We Ride", "The Time to Act", "Trouble!", "Footsteps of Fate", "On the Path to Victory", "Medeus", "The Little Divine Dragon" FE4: Prologue - Chapter 5, "End of Despair" and the final chapter. FE8: "Desperation", "Truth, Despair, and Hope", "Lyon" Tellius: "Ike's Resolution", "Greil Mercenaries", "Crimea Attacks", Black Knight theme, "Echoes of Daybreak", "Dark Traveler", ""Bearer of Hope", "Dawn Brigade", "Eternal Bond", "The Devoted", "Neutiquam Erro", "The Task at Hand" In any case, I think it’s pointless to argue about subjective tastes.

Even if it doesn't much affect the app experience, it's still better to credit the composers, as we can pinpoint the talented people.
First the Nintendo switch online play test now this?
Something really interesting is going on with Nintendo
Amazing job Andre!!!
As far as Nintendo is concerned all the songs are composed by “Nintendo”.
Great idea guys
Nintendo’s thing has always been special one of a kind experiences that u can only get from them
They do that for games so ofc they’d extend it to music
So makes sense they’d want to do that for music as well
oh wow. dude that's really cool of you.
"I've been a busy boi!"
André 2024 😂
Even Brawl did this more than ten years ago...
I'm not even sure Nintendo knows all this information, especially for older games
At the very least the games themselves had credits for the soundtrack listed. Even if the original composers of each song are lost to time, I’d appreciate just having something like “Composer Unknown (BGM from [game] was composed by [Artist 1], [Artist 2]”
Thank you Champ appreciate it 👍
A worthwhile and noble project. Awesome job. Keep it up! I can understand why you need to outsource others to find information. Ironically, this is one of those projects you WANT to become obsolete when/if Nintendo does eventually add proper credits in the Nintendo Music app.
That would be a hell of a job to add the music tracks form Super Smash Bros.
....yeeeeah I'm not looking forward to that one LOL. At least every song is well documented though!
This never happened.
I really don't think it's YOUR place to do this.
I love the app. I think it's a shame people always have to find something to complain about.
I wouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet. I’m sure this app will be continually updated for the next few years, and song credits will be added at some point.
Not all heroes wear capes.
There are some tracks. I wish you can extend, but you can’t.
Bro is on crack, I love it
The opposite of last
Does anyone know what song format does the streaming service uses for their music? Lossless?
I thought I read somewhere it was AAC? I may be wrong, though.
I’ve been doing this for years dawg…
I was hoping they include The Super Mario Bros. Movie Musics
This app makes my phone heat up to like 100 degrees for some reason
I agree that Nintendo needs to credit their composers, but the bigger issue with the app is that there are barely any soundtracks available to begin with
They are updating it over time, they just added Super Mario Bros. Wonder
@@friendlyotaku9525 I know, but as of now there's barely anything to listen to. I'm not saying every game they've ever published needed to be there at launch, but couldn't they have waited until there were more than 20 games before releasing it?
They have over 500 songs on this app already z calm down lol
@@DANCERcow I have no idea where you got the idea that I wasn't calm, I'm just pointing out a problem that a lot of other people also have
Good job Andre! This is a really good project and it’s really important for these composers to be credited and respected for their contributions to our ears 😂
Is there no screen-off playback???
There is!
Works fine on Android.
You know who doesn't have this problem? RUclips VGOST UPLOADERS
Let's a go!
That's really something only industry professionals will care about. It's a nice thought, but maybe 1% of the population will really pay it any mind.
That's how every music streaming service starts out.
Thanks So much Andre
"Fails to credit the composers"
Well technically and legally you may be very incorrect. You do not know what was legally inside those contracts. Nintendo may have genuinely written the contracts to be along the lines of
Any music written for or while under employment with nintendo makes nintendo the sole owner and creditor.
Not to mention there could be different rules regarding being credited in game vs reproduction for something like the music app. Japanese law is different from US law. Which Americans fail to remember on a daily basis.
Missing credits is one problem
Missing games is another, like no tears of the kingdom, no lost world, no dread...
They will release more games over time. They've already released the Mario Wonder soundtrack since the app launched so I imagine game soundtrack drops should be fairly regular.
Just be aware that it will get struck down by Nintendo, so it will be best to use the Send Feedback button on the music app to show some awareness.
I'm really hoping they add this in a future update.
OK apologist
@@knuclear200x How is that being an apologist?
@@SALTYTOAD00 you still believe adding credits will redeem $20 RUclips videos
@@knuclear200x And you still continue to forget everything else Nintendo Switch Online offers because you know it'll disprove your point. Also, did you forget that RUclips doesn't let you play music in the background unless you buy Premium?
@SALTYTOAD00 you think it offers anything because you ignore PS Plus and Gamepass. Touch games
Bro relax, I’m pretty sure this will be add in a future update😂
This is Nintendo. It took them two or three years to add basic online to Super Mario Party
Or folders.
I have Spotify. That would be a good place to start for official Nintendo music playlists.
Glad you guys didn't do another go vote video. Keep politics and video games apart please.
Thank you for doing this Andre
I wish they would also add the feature to use the music you download from the app so tou cam use the music you download for projects and video you make! People already do this too! I just hate seeing music channels go on RUclips because thats mine and many others sources for music in our videos!
This is a huge disservice to creatives at large, because its not properly crediting individuals, but the company at large.
That's like if you saw Puss in Boots and the only credit was Dreamworks. Nothing else.
What a waste of time. Nintendo needs to get you guys some games asap.
Crediting the composers is a waste of time? Way to show everyone how little respect you have for the people who actually make Nintendo games.
It’s for listening to brother!
Buddy, you can just look up the composers and said composers were already paid for their work. 😅
Ok but they’ll never add the Chibi Robo OST, so what’s the point?
Another problem is that is only for Nintendo Switch Online members. Why not just make it free for everyone?
That's terrible. (It would be great if they just have music on Nintendo's website with folders so we can use them on our videos.)
Nintendo owns the rights to all the compositions. And that's it, folks.
This is a very good idea. But my biggest issue is the content. There's maybe 5 % of all the music Nintendo has.
Wait? What? Nintendo has a music app?
Would've preferred they just put their music on Spotify.... *Sigh* but Nintendo loves being "Nintendo"
I don't want more services to pay for anyway X_X
Nintendos latest lackluster software keeping Andre busy. 😂
🎉
People should be credited for their work. Non-negotiable, it’s not an argument
For one, let’s not ignore Nintendo officially releasing their music is a huge deal. Two, lots of people won’t be looking things up by composer, they’ll be looking up by game or specific title (if they know it)
Verdict: they’re moving in the right direction. They just need a little bit more work put in, then it’ll be great
Everyone deserves credit
The app has a lot of problems. A very lacking library (only a dozen soundtracks, most are from more recent games), no Apple Carplay or Android Auto capabilities, and no proper credits to the composers. The biggest question everyone should be asking is, "Why are they wasting money on this app, instead of doing what other companies do with their soundtracks by releasing it on well-established apps like Spotify or Apple Music?"
Typical Nintendo.
"every FE before Awakening (arguably fates) only had like one really good song and the rest are mid"
*Genealogy of the Holy War, the Altea games, both Tellius titles and Sacred Stones crying in the corner*
Just to mentiona few:
Altea: "Together We Ride", "The Time to Act", "Trouble!", "Footsteps of Fate", "On the Path to Victory", "Medeus", "The Little Divine Dragon"
FE4: Prologue - Chapter 5, "End of Despair" and the final chapter.
FE8: "Desperation", "Truth, Despair, and Hope", "Lyon"
Tellius: "Ike's Resolution", "Greil Mercenaries", "Crimea Attacks", Black Knight theme, "Echoes of Daybreak", "Dark Traveler", ""Bearer of Hope", "Dawn Brigade", "Eternal Bond", "The Devoted", "Neutiquam Erro", "The Task at Hand"
In any case, I think it’s pointless to argue about subjective tastes.
