      Which thing? This was such a great video, detailed, explained and showed everything. Not sure if the potatos I have are "determinate". I'll read more comments. Does it hurt the potatoes if bugs eat the leaves? I'm guessing those flowers get fertilized. Looked like they were in shade most of the time. Full sun? I've got a sweet potato slip I want to try too.

    My gosh, here it is April 1, 2020 when the world is falling apart and I should have been onto this knowledge years ago. God Bless you both for putting this step-by-step out there. So am I, and this is the military style of teaching people from many backgrounds. Teach to the lowest level of their experience, and take the time to be thorough. In taught military and civilians in electronic theory, and this method worked for me. Also wanted to say a Big God Bless to both of you. This is going to help many in these times.

She fed all the cousins that worked as feild hands in corn crops and tobacco crops , plus Pap had a saw mill ! Three big meals a day on a wood cook stove! They didn't get electric till I was 15 ! Hard work every day , with farm animals and all but a healthy life. They lived to be in their 90's ! Wow ! I wrote a book ! Thanks for the teaching, I subscribed.

I have always had a heart for farming and growing my own food and with all going on here in NY with corona virus and not wanting to go out much to the market, we decided to start our own garden on the property. Hollis and Nancy, I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am that I stumbled upon your videos tonight. It's now 3:36 am and I'm STILL watching! LOL Right now I'm steadily taking notes on how to grow taters in the 5 gal buckets. Besides loving how incredibly informative you are, I'm especially excited because ya'll are the first veggie growers I've found on YT that's even remotely close to me...I'm just outside of Warrenton in Virginia, so everything you're teaching actually applies to Meeee! One question though...WHEN should I start my buckets? Today is Thursday, March 28th...it's still in the 20s & 30s in the mornings but into the 50s, 60s, and even a couple of 70s by about 1 or 2 in the afternoon the last couple of weeks.
    Thank you so very much for sharing your talents and giving so much of your time to us. Making these videos can be very time-consuming so I don't know how you can make these and still have time to do all your other gardening too...I'm impressed! I'm a disabled granny who's looking at some intense health issues coming down the pike (1st of 3 surgeries coming April 19th), but you have me all amped up and excited about getting some successful gardening done in between recoveries. If all goes well, I won't be AS disabled as I am right now and I'm blessed to have help from one of my sons. You both are a Godsend and you've given me something to look forward to. Bless you both for showing up on my path when you did. All in God's time, right? Right! I look forward to your response and to watching the rest of your videos. I have sooo much to learn!

    Best potato vid I've seen. I made sooo many mistakes last year, which was my fisrt time planting potatoes. Hopefully this year, with the knowledge I've gained from this video, it will be a better crop. Actually, any crop will be a better crop from last year. Thanks again.

    I have a tip for you, use rainwater. Don't use water from the city tap, you will see a big difference. Try growing butter potatoes, when they are almost full-grown, they taste like potatoes were soaked in butter when cooked. In fact, you do not need butter. You have to harvest them before they are mature to get this taste.

    • @kathrineprice8368
      @kathrineprice8368 2 года назад

      Unfortunately in some urban areas it is actually illegal to collect rain water. That’s what we discovered in Tacoma. 😲

What we have coming as a nation as a people is going to make us independent from the system so I plan on growing alot. My hope is I can gain my independence thru dependence on God 🙏.

    I live in New Mexico in the desert. Water is scarce here and after watching the video, I decided that it wouldn’t be a wise choice for me to do here in New Mexico. Plus I am 71 years old and don’t want to work quite that hard. Just call me lazy but I think the potatoes deserve someone more energetic and with more water to help them grow. It does give me a tremendous respect for the farmers. I have family members that are farmers and I’ve always respected them but seeing the process and how much work it is, my respect for them have jgrown.
